You can’t avoid it. Texas is fully on the side of landlords.
Smh. sad
Seriously 😫
Whats fair is fair...Live some where else...
NY State has tenant rental laws. Y'all need to leave Texas. I grew up 15 minutes from the Texas border in Oklahoma and I left the first chance I could. Seriously, protect yourselves. Abbott is a douche.
Landlords contribute nothing to society.
If you want what happens to your property as a landlord the same as what happened to Cuban landowners back in the day (violent seizure of property by the public) maybe don't be so psychopathic about pricing out basic human needs such as housing.
All of these raggedy apartments using " market rate," as a reason to hike it up but the apts are trash. No serious changes, upgrades, no maintenance. There should be a law that raggedy apts can't partake in market rate if they were last built before 2012.
That sounds good man. As long as you can’t raise my property tax and utilities either. And you guys cover the repairs
@@yenpham-jb4wo I see your point. Some people want to put a hold on rents, but don't realize cost of every material, every labor, every insurance and every utility goes up, that the LL must pay. So far, I haven't seen anyone follow up your comment by volunteering to taking over LL's bills.
The rent is too damn high!
Side affect of screwing landlords out of rent for years during covid . We gotta make up all the money we lost somehow
My apartment has put this in my lease, trash, water, and pest control 57 dollars. Lol the funny thing is trash is running over the trash containers.
Do you think they will lower rent prices when the market dictates it? I don't think so. Market rates is just a cliché phrase now that doesn't make any sense what so ever. It just doesn't make any sense that rent in an apartment building 15 years or older should hike their prices up to where the newer apartment prices are just because they throw some fresh paint on the outside, and don't bother improving the insides. And they won't improve the insides of the apartments until the current tenant is out. It's a terrible thing they are doing and should be considered bad business practices.
You every heard of property taxes? Raise in energy costs, raise In utilities.
No you didn’t because you don’t care. Yeah your rent goes up because the property tax has been doubling.
Don’t like it? Buy your own place
@@yenpham-jb4wo I pay the utilities and energy costs, and property tax is public record and no it hasn't been doubling (and I know because I just looked it up), so get another stick @sshole!
@@yenpham-jb4wooh. And most of the time... utilities aren't included in someone's rent. So increasing someone's rent to increase the size of their pockets is fkn bs
We need to arrest these slum lords and put them in prison where they belong.
You just mad because you broke

@@wellshititskyle Dear Kyle, does it hurt being illiterate? Learn to write a sentence and then try to articulate that nonsense again. Seriously, did you graduate HS at all?
Let's arrest someone that made great financial decisions and had amazing credit to acquire this home which increases in cost to operate ever year due to repairs, wear and tear, taxes, property taxes, and increase in utilities. Makes perfect sense 😂
@@angelberthoteroful There’s raising rent to offset the rising costs…then there’s raising rent to offset the rising costs whilst burning bridges between tenants that provide you with reliable income. These landlords need to think more logically here 😅 plain greed at its finest, you’ll get return on your investment someday.. you don’t need to rush things
If that landlord/management company does renovations on an apartment, they can raise the rent substantially. However, if nothing has been done to your apartment, you have every right to fight that increase because nothing justifies the rent increase.
The increase in property tax utilities and cost of waste manamgement say otherwise. You want the same rent when they raise my fees every single year? Don’t work that way man
@@yenpham-jb4wo in NYC, there's a 4% rent increase every year. The key word that you lost in your panic lather was "substantially." Read the comment again, comprehend all of the sentences, and then respond.
Wait so it’s fair to the owner to charge less then market value? Cost of living is high. Property tax is high utilities are high interest rates are high. It’s not fair to the owner to not raise rents in this economy. And section 8 will provide enough for renters if they apply for it.
@@iceegogaming8060 NYS rental law dictates what percentage a landlord can legally raise a tenant's rent. Period. Section 8 has no part in this conversation, dumdum. Learn to comprehend written language.
@@yenpham-jb4wothe government should cap how much your able to raise every year then. Because some you landlords are on crack pipe a lot with the rent raises you come up with.
My daughter and I are now homeless. They raised my rent 10 percent recently. I’ve paid on time for 6 years. I have 1 month left. Not sure what I’m going to do.
Go somwhere Cheaper
@@yenpham-jb4wothe hood?
I'm so sorry to hear that. that's awful! Hope and pray you all found a new home.
Hey u homeless now or naw?
These slum lords need to be put in jail.
We can't help our own citizens, but let's send billions to some random conflict in Europe
Do tell me how government spending has anything to do with PRIVATE owners demonstrating their greed. Really, do explain that, chump.
Uh you know nothing about what private owners have to deal with. That is probably why your broke self can barely afford rent. Enjoy the streets you bum
My rent once again increased another $200 now I'm paying $2,000 a month. So getting damn sick of this clown of a landlord.. 90% of my check now goes to that clown not to mention I had to cancel health care benefits due to making sure I could still afford the rent. One just can't afford to live anymore freaking pathetic... If the world ends tomorrow it would definitely be for the best because who in the hell can afford to live in this damn world anymore.? I'm a middle class hardworking father of 3 and I'm feeling completely helpless nowadays.. Landlords seriously need to STOP screwing us people over enough is enough..
Who are renting out these places when the rent goes up?
Ghost
You can always negotiate your rent. I’ve done it and saved like 600 off rent
not with the rental companies
Same is going on here in mass. Landlord except you to make 3 times the rent and a minimum credit score of 600. I've been homeless for 2 years while fighting cervical cancer and dealing with DCF after a domestic incident. Ive been on every housing list across Massachusetts since 2016.
The serious housing shortage began with Federal banking law changes made between 2009 and 2017. New laws or tightening of existing laws reduced the number of lesser safe and medium safe loans(laymans terms) a bank was permitted to loan. That meant a lot of good people got locked out of buying houses. And that, in turn, meant a lot of people continued to rent that would have bought, reducing the number of rental units available.
The law may have been well intended, but it had bad consequences.
They will gladly give you a few extra months at twice the monthly rate.
There should be a cap on rental hikes This is illegal
Not gonna lie, I have bought into several syndications, and they quarterly reports in the first year or so ALWAYS talk about bringing in "higher quality" tenants, i.e., tenants who can pay more.
And do the math: if you increase rent by 15%, that's worth taking a 13% decline in occupancy, even before you factor in that fewer tenants to deal with means less time (= money) spent on dealing with tenants. If you increase rent by 15%, then any occupancy decline of less than 13% is already money in the bank.
That's just the way those general partners roll.
You didn't mention her INCOME, that's very important to the conversation. If she works part time then ofcourse she won't be able to afford the increase.
"I did that!!" - Joe Biden
HA! Because he did do that.
Heres a solution vote out any politician who is increasing property taxes vote out politicians who is not building more homes to inflate the price and vote out politicians whos increasing taxes thats would be a start to getting rid of such ridiculous rent hikes shelter is a necessity and these people could careless if millions goes homeless
It’s impossible to live an honest life and continue being a law abiding citizen in this city. Add crime and gun violence not to mention the rampant car jacking and auto theft, and you gotta wonder, are these key pieces being put into place so that we are unable to fight back, under funded, no resources, hungry, broke, afraid, vulnerable, and fed up? Historically looking at other countries where this has become the state of its citizens, the citizens fight back. And it doesn’t end well for anyone. So you got a wonder why our government here in the United States is supposed to be intelligent, diplomatic, for the people, by the people, of the people, why are they setting us up for this? And can any of us survive it? Something to ask yourself. I just know that I’m afraid of what comes next because, don’t have any solutions, and no one’s answering the questions.
By “fixing” you mean painting over cockroaches lmao
Then buy your own place. Or move to a smaller cheaper place. Or get a roommate. $600 is very very cheap for a 2 bedroom apt.
The apartment isn't worth the price hikes, or they'd already be at "market value."
@@tmm6884if it isn't worth it then leave then no one is forcing to rent our properties
not that simple. many can afford rent but get denied when trying to get a mortgage
Lmao
Places don’t allow roommates. They will have an adult limit.
And for those who have kids they are charging fees for children over 1 years old.
It would be great to live in la la make believe land where you can snap your fingers and make other people agree and do what you want them to do.
Even family members back stab and ruin lives.
Money
One way to avoid high rent. Teach your kids to buy not rent, to be responsible for credit , not to be workers and dependant on government and they'll be fine. Landlords bought, invested and they are set. Even they have kids to feed.
The reality is “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” - 1 John 3:17
Deuteronomy 15:11 ESV - “For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’
Luke 3:11 ESV - “And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
Proverbs 21:13 ESV - “Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.”

So after a significant increase, she's still significantly below market rent. That means landlord is being fair and considerate to raise it to $1,000 when similar properties are renting for $1,300. Its not landlord's responsibility to subsidize her housing.
If rent goes up, property taxes goes up for landlords, so who pays for landlords taxes. If tenants complain.
That’s the landlords responsibility. I didn’t force them to purchase an apartment complex that had property taxes that are too high. Why should they force their expenses onto me with no compensation in amenities?
Everybody going to help pay for student loan relief. 😂😂😂
Aren't you a dilweed. Everybody didn't go to college, like you, for example.

How to avoid rent raising to market rate? Nah I don't want to get full value for my investment and hard work
Hard work?! HA! As if, dumdum. Landlords do nothing.
@@tmm6884 if it was so easy everyone would be doing it. I got out of prison in 2012 with a $50 visa card and a prison ID. Now I'm renting out construction equipment and renting homes to dairies to house totally legal not migrants wink wink employees to do the jobs you wouldn't want to consider.
