Trump was running for president before these allegations were made so the motive of political character assassination can't be ruled out.

He's far from being behind bars.. but he has been found guilty of all charges.
Sentencing is scheduled for next month.
However, the criminal appeals can be quite lengthy. And whether he'll have to appeal from behind bars or remain free will be up to the judge.
And that was only for his 1st indictment.
Imagine what he will get for the other 3 indictments.

In italy, they tried to cut Berlusconi out of politics with similar accusation for decades.
Never managed, in fact he stayed in politics until he retired and soon died at 87.
With Trump the same applies, he's here to stay, a lot of people likes him and all the counterarguments to his presidency are weak AF.

@@change4066 even if he does appeal he cannot do so until Judge Merchan has passed sentence on the current charges so if he insists on Trump + jail he will be obligated to do the time and will have to appeal when behind bars. So the sentence regardless stands.

Sentence isn't until July 11th, 4 days before the replublican national congress. Sentencing will include breeches of the 10 gag orders and it's only after sentencing that he can appeal. If he does appeal and he has a custodial sentence, he can wait appeal inside or out of jail, there's a choice when sentencing is made.
It's a shame that we are losing our language. No one challenges flagrant errors anymore or corrects people; let alone, see the mistakes that are being made. People are so concerned about "offending" someone.... we have really become soft. Do people think it doesn't matter? I know these youngsters of today just don't care. How did they come to that?

They can only appeal after the sentencing has been made.
Wait... what? He can wait appeal *inside or outside of jail, there's a choice when sentencing is made?* So you're saying the judge can say "Well, you've filed for appeal now - would you like to be in jail until we have the hearing for that or not?" and Trump can just say "Nah, I'd prefer to walk free, thanks!" and the judge will just go "Fair enough - okay, this court is adjourned, see you all for the appeal!" ?? THAT'S INSANITY!

It depends on the crime. A jail sentence can be suspended pending appeal. It's up to the judge.
Think about Steve Bannon - he got a custodial sentence for defying a congressional subpoena, which was suspended until the conviction appeal was heard. Once the appeal was denied, he was sent to prison.
Compare that to Peter Navarro, same crime, convicted and sentenced to prison. He asked for a suspension until the appeal was heard - that judge said no and he had to go to jail a few days later. After a week or two inside (I think) he again asked for a suspension pending appeal and was denied again.
It all depends on the judge.

@pagangamer87 I've been following the trial, and I'm still very confused. From what I got, it seems to be one of three things. The judge apparently had the jury choose which one they'll charge him with, they didn't have to agree on which one, but they'll count it as one felony.

A convicted felon can't join the military, but can be a President. The only things the Constitution says is You have to be 35 years old and be born in the United States. They need to make an amendment stating a Convicted Felon cannot be president and you cannot be older than 70 to run for president. Having said that, Russell Howard is Hilarious. Im surprised Trump hasn't gone after him the way he has with late night show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel who i also find hilarious in his monologues

Even if he appeals he cannot do so until the sentence is passed by Merchan so if the judge insists on prison time he WILL have to do it and appeal while behind bars.
Not sure what band E is but in the states it goes M1 M2 M3 (murder classification) then Felony 1-6, then misdemeanor crimes.

So I work in retail & a customer with a strong United States accent said that they like it here because it better than what’s happening with Trump.

-prosecuter has been convicted of purgery previously
- the case filings didn’t specify the crimes he’d be on trial for, stopping him building a defence (violation of the 5th amendment)
- 2 federal campaign finance groups said in 16/17 they quote “had nothing to convict him on so it would be pointless” the 3rd an independent followed with the same styles quote
-The 3rd one then now had refiled the case (on the behest of the Biden administration)
- the statute of limitations had expired so the refiled under “type e” to extend the statute to be possible to convict

I know a couple of Americans online who support Trump and making claims about previous presidents is a common tactic.
Anytime you mention something bad Trump has done, they immediately respond with claims that other presidents have done similar things.
Now, I'm not American, have never been to America and have little interest in American history so I don't know if the claims are true or not. For the sake of argument, let's say they are true. That doesn't help the Trump supporters' case one iota.
They don't seem capable of grasping the concept that a bad act is always a bad act. It doesn't suddenly become good or acceptable just because someone else did it first.
