- Today I am excited to introduce you to a beautiful family in a beautiful home in Southern France. They moved here just a few years ago and are working to live a more sustainable lifestyle. At home they are expanding their garden, adding on rainwater harvesting containers and transitioning to heating their home with wood they harvest from the woods near their property. They built their house to function within the land that they are a part of and because of this they don't need air conditioning, even in the hot summers! They practice thriftiness by buying quality items that last. Christophe was so proud to show show me that he'd been wearing some of his clothes for 20 years! They are already doing a lot (which you'll learn more about in the video), but in the coming years they’ll be doing a lot more to live sustainably. They are a wonderful example for families that want to live in comfort and some luxury but do a lot more to live in a better harmony with our world.
I stayed with them for 5 weeks during the lockdown and we shared a wonderful time.
Now it's time for you to share the experience I had through this tour of their home!
Thank you so much for hosting me Christophe, Lysiane, Marie and Brieuc @Cagnus

Thank you Rob for your inspiring video's. I am learning so much from you. Keep up the great work. You are a compassionate soul and it shines through in all your video's.
doggo pancake getting groomed in the beginning really brightened up my day lol
My dream ... I was born and raised in a countryside but unfortunately got sucked into big city life.... can’t wait to adopt to this life style. Must try harder....
I love that house! Such a great place to live sustainably. Best wishes to the family.
Love this Family Rob! Thanks for sharing
Lovely family, beautiful pets.
Love this, please thank them for sharing with us & kudos to you 1🤗😋🥰
Nice to see you in our beautiful country. Merci à cette famille pour cette visite !🇨🇵
Very nice to see some other household. We have compost bins, a complete front yard garden, lots of trees, and a zero waste philosophy (which is hard now in California). Glad to see this.
Rob is so cool. I'm learning how to be more sustainable. First started by installing a solar panel and I use my battery bank to charge electronics. Super cool process!
Hey Rob! You have given so much inspiration to us. Your positivity is so contagious. Keep the fire within burning. 🔥 Thank you for all your contributions to our planet.
Much love from Philippines. 🤩
Yay! More Filipinos watching this Channel🤩
Thanks for sharing, Rob! I appreciate seeing different people at different points along their journey. It’s worth emphasizing the process over perfection, and I think your attitude of openness and positivity is so inspiring. It makes living this way seem welcoming rather than unattainable or difficult
Loved the tour! Such a beautiful place. Definitely shows ways to reduce environmental impact that are relatively easy. Things like conscious consuming by purchasing for long term use, air drying laundry, avoiding air conditioning and considering the most eco-friendly type of transportation to use for different types of travel are fairly doable for most.
^This 💯
Thanks to the family for sharing their story/life.
Thank you so much for sharing. What a great example of things a lot of us can do. How great it is that you can present this in English so that even more people can understand. The freedom knowing a language gives us! I will go practice my French now..... Greetings from Crimea!
I love this...you’re lucky to have found such a beautiful place that matches your philosophy, in such a short time after having left Amsterdam in a hurry! There are no coincidences!☺️ They will benefit from your ideas and experience! Beautiful!Thank you and thanks to the family you live with for sharing. Love from/salutations de la Suisse!🙏🏻
Thanks for showing this. It is amazing that you are willing to show a spectrum and even give an opportunity to show people who are completely different that you. Trying to navigate through the journey of living a life more sustainably, without a lot of immediate support from people around, it can become overwhelming at times. But seeing different viewpoints and ideas can create encouragement to keep going towards the most sustainable life possible. Thank you, Rob, for cultivating and providing a positive space, to gain new ideas and providing a place to keep going in the right direction.
blessings to you rob, thanks for showing a different way of existing.
I am glad you found this family to visit at this time and can share this with us. Love your work Rob 😃👍🏼 Greetings from Australia 👋🏻
The family you are staying with seems very lovely. It really struck me as I watched this wonderful video how similar our lives are- we live in So. California, they live in So. France, but really, so similar, with like minded goals. It is good to know that there are others all over the globe working on making our planet a better place to live. Thank you very much Rob,.
Love the house- glad you found such a nice family to stay with-trying to reuse my water( from dishwashing , etc as much as I can. Thanks for your inspiration
I love this!! Especially their Great Pyr!!!
What a nice family and nice area to find yourself stranded with during the Covid 19 lock-down. :-)
Thank you for sharing !! Always very interesting.
Yes. Everyone can start doing something to make their life more sustainable
Beautiful home.
This was highly interesting Rob.
Delightful home. Greetings from
Switzerland.

Very informative. Thank you
Thank you for sharing! Beautiful!
Much love and respect family from germany ! 💖 💖 💖
7 like, Good to share👍🏻
Really beautiful appreciate ❤️🙏🙏
Great video. Looks like a wonderful place to spend the several weeks at, crisis or not.
I've been finding it difficult to stay positive about the state of things, and unsure of how to go about making the right choices to have less of an impact on the environment - or as you put it, treading a more lightly. All I can do at the moment is become more educated, and make very small changes and sometimes it feels a little overwhelming. Thank you for being so positive and helping educate us all. Hope this comment helps with that RUclips algorithm!
Have you found other people to talk to about sustainability? It took me awhile, but once I found someone else interested it became a lot less overwhelming.
Find a nice community online to talk with 😊 There are so many groups that could benefit your company and input ❤
Better light a candle, even the smallest, than being in anger about darkness 💡
@@walking_with_cj Do you have any that you would recommend? :)
Wonderful and exciting. Impressed with the real meaning of "sustainable lifestyle ".. you have proved. All the very best 👌

Nice family.
💯🙏
Very inspiring your vlog..godbless🙏stay safe
This is good: (vachment chouette) having an electric dryer and choosing to dry your clothes in the sun. Having cars and choosing to travel a la bicyclette c'est bon.
What a lovely life. Love this family and ways they found how to live more sustainably while being in a traditional system. I really love the lack of air conditioning--I have not used a/c for many years but found my circle often uses it in their homes, cars, when it is in my opinion not healthy nor sustainable.
Hello Rob ! j'adore ce que tu fais et je pense comme toi...un grand bravo pour toutes ces initiatives qui font bouger les gens, je me suis abonnée à ta chaine pour te suivre car tu me donnes des idées...@+Zabou de France.
Great job
That was phenomenal. Here I thought people from France weren't anything like us in America.
#ProudOfOurFrenchAccent :D
They have dogs too ! A golden retriever ! :)

Great video. Thank you.
Not sure how, but would be good to prevent the wind from adding to audio. It was distracting.

wow i see u again my idol!!!😁🔆⛲
this is great, its a journey, correctly said.
Great content
I’m from the country side close to Toulouse :D
💚🌱🌳♻
I’m not sure we could live without ac in Kansas (especially in the west) as during the summer and spring it regularly reaches temperatures upwards of 40*c aka hot enough to melt tar but other than that a lot of this seems very achievable
A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step (Buddha). 👍😁💖
Im from phil,,Rob nice vid
thank you for sharing, and also the bit about the algorithm of youtube, (i didn't know) :)
Old appliances are usually less energy efficient. I would get a new good quality one and maintain that.
Nice vids 👍🏻👍🙏🌹
Are you from PP city?
@@walking_with_cj Yes, how did you know?
I recognized your name as being Khmer!
I plan to to move to PP for business one day. Cambodian culture has a special place in my heart and its really nice to see you here.
Hi I from Indonesia I like your project to produce food by your own field. I want to know how you begin your project? Thanks for your video and sharing
I hope to see them getting more progress gradually. But somehow they're still attracted to the package and label world. I suppose the microwave will be the next thing thrown out though
Naturally and globally seen this is mostly anything but sustainable! definitely not fair
👍👍👍👌☺️
Can you please share your biodegradable washing up liquid recipe, please?
It was very difficult to understand a lot of his story. You did your best, and I knew that. I still enjoyed it and watched it all. Thank you for sharing
Click on closed caption and it'll all come together for you.
@Editions Nautilus You did a great job!
Hi rob when you come to Indonesia..

Rob I wanted to ask u if you've seen the new documentary from Jeff Gibbs about green energy. It's very shocking video, very heart breaking, extremely worrying. The documentary is called "planet of the humans" please I would like to hear ur opinion, forsure it's definitely a must watch video. As always love watching ur videos and thank you.
My god, what's their income? 3 cars, huge garden outside and beautiful house!
France is a large country in Europe.
Education is important to a high
level. This in turn leads to a higher
income in life. Living like this leads
to saving and a lot of preparation.
Not wasting money and buying
things for the sake of just shopping.
Greetings from Switzerland.
House prices in France are fairly low. I moved there 16 years ago after selling my house in the UK for 3 times what I paid for it and with the change bought a traditional French small holding. The good life☺
Did my ear catch your host narrating w/ a German accent but living in France?
Happy Customer I hear what you mean especially in the pantry and when he says “closing” , but this dude is pretty damn French
6:58 “alternative distributors” doesn’t get much more French than this guy trying to say that in English
