    Interesting result. I wouldn't have though of this sort of issue - bad connection or bad modules quelling the CANbus, to the point the car would not start.
    Thank you for showing the rest of us! This is something an amateur/involuntary mechanic by way of Mk4 VW ownership, like me, just wouldn't think of. I know I learnt quite a bit with these two videos, so now I have another 'tool' in my head when dealing with a no-start, or electrical woes.

    +1 on the ABS controller bringing the network down being a common problem on VW's (and Audis). Had that on my 99 A4, when I first bought it as a non-runner. Unplugged the ABS unit and was able to connect to PCM and scan for codes. Luckily, the connector was really easy to get to on my car.

    • @CoolAirVw

      It isn't the radio its the adapters. If you have a radio adapter with no radio then it might cause no communication with the scan tool.

      There is no radio or radio adapters. When i bought this car all the cables to the radio was cut off. I have a cheap scan tool and with that i can scan but i cant test anything. Im reading a trouble code on throttle position. I also have an obdeleven that schould be the same as vag-com but for andriod but with that i cant connect and then i cant do a alignment on the throttle position. @@fredrik6166 check for power and ground to OBDII connector then make sure k line isn't shorted to power. Then look at wiring diagram to see what modules are on the data bus's and what databus it has. Unplug modules till it communicates if that doesn't do it look for short to power or ground onthe K-line or the databus wires. This is just general advice on communication problems.

      I will do that. I have checked my k-line on the obd and i have 5 volts with ignition off and 11 volts with the ignition on. I dont know if this is correct. Should i even have any voltage on the k-line with ignition off?

    Great Video. I'm wondering if the cut wire at the sensor caused the failed ABS control module?

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  3 года назад +4

      Its possible, but I learned after the video that the car was in a crash, hence the new fender and new suspension parts. I always worry whenever there is a computer failure whether someone "jump started" or charged the battery with the terminals reversed.

    Old School mechanics used to unplug MAF Sensors to check if it works if engine shuts off.. Does this still apply to newer vw's, or this no longer applies bc of new tech?

      1st step. Scan all modules and see if any are communicating. Watch the video again and take notes. Watch my other video. Next step would be based on which modules will communicate. ruclips.net/video/S0vtC_AbRpg/видео.html

Scanned it and found 13 foaults, one of them being the engine locked by immobilizer. I run some other non mechanical tests, and the car started and died. I haven't got airbags

    Hey i have a vw cc 2011 2.0tsi only misfires on a single cylinder,p0301, p0341 camshaft position code, p0055, p0441. 160k miles. Timing has been done along with a balance shaft replacement. Car starts on a dime even in the cold. But has terrible low end power and will sputter. Reving to about 1.5k rpms and letting off at idle my rpms will drop and sputter before either stabilizing or just stalling. It does seem to idle roughly too. Any ideas? Just cant find anything similar to my case but i did notice a lot of similarities with the 2012 vw u worked on eith vvt issues. My car isnt running nearly as poorely though and starts fine. No clue whats wrong

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  3 года назад +1

      Have you checked the cam solenoid (cam magnet) to see if its stuck? Have you checked the oil control valve to see if it has the problem like in my other video? Do you have vagcom to run the timing check I did in the other video? I have several videos on timing issues on that engine and similar. You might even have Timing jumped one tooth. You probably need to address the cam timing code 1st. but you might have a timing problem and a separate misfire problem like a coil pack or something else. I have videos on diagnosing misfires as well.

      @@CoolAirVw My bad. I meant that i havent pulled the sensor and checked the magnet or valve solenoid. Im replacing coils/plugs and the sensor today. Ik its unlikely it is the sensor, but its really dirty so i was going to clean it and replace the sensor, then see if p0341 comes back. I have noticed it misfires more with load. Around half throttle 2-3rd gear it will stumble and the engine light flashes, but it runs smooth 1/3 to 1/4th throttle.
      I dont have vagcom, or special tools to work on these. Or the experience so im taking it to a forgein auto so they can work on the p0341. I dont have the tools on me to do it and id rather it be done by a professional. I dont trust myself doing it and i was to have the timing chain tensioner and chain replaced along the way if it hasnt been already along with all the guides.
