- This is the story of one of Destiny's greatest heroes! His name is not in the lore but his story is as great as Saint -14, Osiris, Toland and Dredgen Yor! His name is Rusty! Our local tower sweeper bot!

I know this is a seven-year-old comment but, I agree, this is absolutely canon.
This is now Cannon, every day I will bow before Rusty. Everyday I will kick that stupid ball off the Tower so that it may not impede Rusty's progress. And everyday I will sit along side Rusty, so that he may never feel unappreciated. The true heroes of Destiny are those left unsung.

This is no joke and a beautiful story. Every person no matter how brave, strong, or intelligent they are can become a hero in their own right. And even lesser known heroes like Rusty, even you and I should be celebrated.
And in his dying breath, Byf said "It-it's just a prank, bro..." So sad.

In destiny 1 the bot tries to whistle but it can't and talks about a whistle malfunction. In destiny 2s beta, when you walk to the right to find the speaker the sweeper bot is sweeping and whistling a song. I think it might of been the song that the gardian who saved him was singing.

Because why hire someone to write good lore, when they would just take pieces of it to make a story then sell the rest
Guessing he missed out the bit where he rode on the back of a Hydra (Not a Vex Hydra, a normal Hydra) and took out Oryx with a poke, oh and then there's the bit where he had tea with Skolas to get his help and the two forced Crota into the prison on the Dreadnaught before betraying Skolas, throwing him in there too. And how could I forget the part where he built the most powerful weapon known to the City, the Broom of Power, a weapon, capable of cleansing a planet of Darkness with a single sweep. May this legend carry on forever.

Cool fact! On bannerfall if you look through one of the windows on the sniper spots there's a chance that you can find a frame robot in one of the Windows that looks like an apartment and he's sweeping and whistling! It's really cool and if I can get it again I'll try to post it
I've attempted to return the broom to rusty however my attempts still impede me. But, I shall never stop until his broom has been returned
now an forever, I will wave to rusty whenever i happen to walk by him, for I now know that we all must show true respect for Rusty, the Sweeperbot.
I want this to be real why oh whyyyy. Also the fact that byf can narrate a story better then bungie can makes me smile
This should be cannon. It would explain why he gave no shits during the Cabal Invasion of the tower. And how he was just sleeping up the mess that they made. And how he survived after the city fell and is back sweeping. I don't know how I missed this. This is amazing!
Rusty is the real hero of the story. He's the hero we deserve, but not the one we need.

When we see Rusty nonchalantly sweeping during the midst of the Red Legion attack, that’s him saying “I’ve still got it!” after disposing of the bodies of his would-be attackers.

I was actually gonna ask if this was a joke, but I'm only, just now learning a lot about Destiny Lore, so I wouldn't have been all that surprised if this really was part of the official lore!! Cute story! I actually felt some real emotion for Rusty!

Did anyone else notice the Cabal bodies shattered and broken littering the floor around him in Homecoming? And he just kept sweeping... I fear that they stepped in his dirt pile and he handed them their asses. Too bad Ghaul/Gary didn't walk through his clean floor...

I love how even though canonically this is incorrect, the Sweeperbot got its own backstory in D2.
Before I start watching
Rusty was young when his parents were killed during the battle of twilight gap an event which changed his life forever but as he began to update he began to think "there needs to be justice" so finding the most hidden cave he re built it into a base and made sure he would help the people of earth
Years later he was injured in a bombing from fallen warriors and lost some of his memories he was brought back to the tower and re purposed to clean to this day he still tries to remember
I love all these little stories. It just shows even if most of it never actually made it into the final game the writing teams at bungie really did go all out on these world's and characters.
I saw the title while binge watching all of these and instantly checked the date.
His background explains why there’s two dead cabal around him in the home coming mission in D2

Don't forget, in the beginning of the Red War, Rusty had taken out several Cabal. He may be old, and Rusted like his name suggests, but an old Frame still has Fight.

(Can be any weapon) A burst rifle that represents Rusty’s conflict with the captain, how he survived the attack, and was found by Xur.
It has a life support perk that works more
Often. Can be switched from Kinetic to Solar elements by holding reload.
Used for its odd usefulness in crowd control. Sweeping the battle ground with fast fire rate and above average damage.

😭😭 I always wakes past rusty during the beta never realizing his sad past this touched me right in the feels
Im the lore guy in my group of friends and i told them sweeper bot was with a group of guardians and they boarded a fallen ketch and it was taking off and the fallen caught notice of them. He stayed behind while the guardians escaped and ended up crashing the ketch. They found his damaged remains and now instead of being a battle frame he sweeps the tower with no memory of his valiant deeds. They still believe it to this day.

Good one! It makes me wonder when bungie is going to add more vendors to the tower? I think the sweeper bots are more of a placeholder than anything else. I Remember in year one there used to be a sweeper bot where Eris currently is.

I want frames to be a new destiny class.
they will have their own races:
Tower frame/War frame/Reef Frame
Their own 3 subclasses that only do kinetic damage and a super for each: 'need a hand' they rip off one arm and use it to spin like a tornado,
'bowling ball' roll around in any direction knocking down enemies and 'minigun' it's just a minigun...

I just saw this way after D2 release, and I remember that during the attack on the tower, this guy was right next to a pile of Cabal dead bodies, meaning that he must have killed them all with a broom, and a bad leg............
