    Exactly what I needed to test the diodes in the old Miller.

    Thank you very much. I have an 1969 SAE 300 F-226 gas powered that will fire up but, will not strike an arch. With all the information online, I still cannot find an answer as to why my machine will not weld. I don't really understand the mechanics of testing wires on the machine. Some things I don't get is like, do I test with the machine running, off, do I undo the line before testing, do I leave the line and test as is? do I use OHMs??? and the like. In any case, thank you for your video.

    In diode mode it reads the voltage drop across the diode, so you got 0.422 Vdrop or 422mV which is good (0.3~0.7V), and on the failed one the "zero volts" means short circuit (it "became a wire"), the way diodes like to fail.

    Thanks, my issue with my Snap On welder too. Is there any info on your diagram sheet to where a guy could find a copy on the internet by chance?

    Wrong not an open diode it is a shorted diode.....

    What machine did that diode come off of?

      @@cozy4build245 I just got quoted that changing diodes on my miller big 40 would be 800$ for parts alone. The guy said the are testing fine until machine loads up and therefore the diodes drop out? I’m a millwright at the local paper mill and feel confident about tackling the job myself but concerned if that’s actually the problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

      Hey Caleb I would take out the diodes myself. They will have a part number somewhere and look for that part number on google you can probably find those diodes for less than half of that price quoted to you.

    What if below 400 in reading.?
    The diode is damage

    • @pusherpilot
      @pusherpilot  5 лет назад

      Probably not. You just have to know what that diode is rated at. The main thing is to check if it it open or not. See video. Thanks for watching

    • @pusherpilot
      @pusherpilot  5 лет назад

      Probably not. Be sure to check that it is not "open"
