  • This is how I mounted our baby gate at the bottom of our stairs. Gates can't be installed on newel posts without purchasing additional kits, often for $20+ per post. This method is secure, looks good, and can be done for less than $10 for both posts.

    Really appreciate your example of how you made the gate not only work, but also how it’s attached. Thank you 😊

    So helpful, thanks! Would the mesh prevent an adult from falling down the stairs?

    Hi!! Nice video! How's the durability?? Is the gate sturdy enough where a little one couldn't get thru?

    Do you still like this gate now that your baby is bigger? I'm worried they could push through it if it was at the top of the stairs. Our banister sides are very thin, 1 inch, would it be possible to zip tie the gate to the banister? Essentially skipping the who 2x3 step?

    • @rbell944
      @rbell944  6 лет назад

      Gabrielle Hutter we still like it. We don’t use it very often. Baby girl is 3 1/2 and I have a 20 month old. Both can safely go up and down the stairs. I never had an issue where my daughter would push through it, nor do I think she really could.
      I don’t Think skipping that step would work. Because either on the latch side or the main unit side he would have a zip tied going around the piece either preventing the gate from attracting an opening or preventing a solid latch from top to bottom where it hooks to the other side.

    is it easy to close one handed from top as your going up stairs? Or do you have to bend completly over to middle of gate to pull/latch it?

    • @rbell944
      @rbell944  6 лет назад

      Nathan Plant yeah. One handed operation isn’t a problem.

    Nice solution video! Other than having to hack the installation, how do you find the gate? Easy to use open/close? Keeps the little one safe?

      +Jason M I bought the gate at buybuy baby. It sells for around $90 but you can use a 20% off coupon. I have 3 of them in my house and so far they work great. They are easy to use.
