I drove both Uber and Lyft. I knew the no gun policy and carried anyways. I refuse to be a victim.

I'd rather be fired than shot, too.
Its certainly easier to recover from unemployment than death. Probably less putrefaction too but that's subjective.
Same here
Ed Campbell just out of curiosity: have you ever felt like you were gonna have to use your gun while driving for Lyft or Uber? Where do you drive? I used to drive for Uber but I always stuck to driving in affluent areas to avoid any issues where I felt unsafe but I’m guessing your circumstances are different. Just for context I drove in Southern California in a region known as the South Bay which is relatively safe at least from my perspective.

Pretty sure its a felony to carry when you're an unarmed security guard?
At least in my state. I think its ridiculous that you basically don't have a right to defend yourself if you're a security guard.
Unknown person in a truck cuts you off slams the brakes and says he has a pistol as he approaches you in an aggressive manner making death threats. You'd obviously get scared and defend yourself no matter what you say or who you are.

Oh, the same Uber that decides to label its drivers as private contractors so they aren't liable for literally anything? Yeah, think I'll still carry when I drive.
Well it makes sense because lets say some crazy Uber driver decides to shoot someone in his vehicle for a disagreement they could be liable problably the reason for independent contracts. I would want to see more paperwork to reach a definitive understanding of the policies.

He had said multiple times he was going to stab me and the little girl to death and he kept coming closer to me with his hand in his pocket, at one point i felt the need to pull my gun out because the threat was becoming to big at that point, i gave him 2 warnings and after that he runned towards me i shot him twice.
He passed away later and after his clothes were searched it appeared he didnt even have a knife on him but because of all the witnesses and camera's i didnt got charged because it was decided that it was justified.

They had other evidence against the attacker in the form of text messages to the attackers ex girlfriend specifically saying he was going to harm the uber driver. Also the passenger in the car being a witness. I don't think he would have gotten in any trouble even without the camera

I can clearly see on the video its not a gun. Doesnt look like a gun. Doesnt look like his hand is in the shape of a gun. Just the verbal threat and his actions is enough. Cause if no one had a gun that man wouldve got in his face. Put hands on him or threatened to do so 1 foot from him and it could easily escalate. I think it was a good decision overall. That being said, The driver seeing this man with his own eyes probably just knew it was an object in hand (hes ready but not gonna shoot him) then he threatens him with said object and points it up at him. He drops him immediately. Good job

Being a person who now constitutionally carries, I can tell you that I used to be the honker-road rager and let my ego get the best of me. I have done a complete 180 and do everything I can to avoid confrontation. The last thing I want to do is escalate and put someone down because I may have been the catalyst to the escalation, regardless if I started it or not. It isn't worth your life or their's to flex your ego. Stay calm, remove yourself from the situation and live another day. As soon as I started to carry and go through training, my attitude changed and now I am an advocate for being the silent shepherd rather than the opportunistic wolf.
Well said! Thats exactly how it should be.
That is because you are a rational person. I believe many people undergo this transformation when they carry a firearm. With great power comes great responsibility, and you realize if you are ever put in a lethal situation your ability to settle it in your favor is also a burden you now have. SOME people unfortunately seem to not undergo this transformation, but I hope this is only a small percentage of people. Kind of like the people who pretend to be cops, and go full sheepdog. I don't know what is wrong with those people. They seem to think being a civil servant (playing cop) is "cool" or exciting in some way. It somehow elevates them in life because police have some kind of authority over people when they are wearing the uniform. But in reality they are just employees wearing a uniform, doing what they are told to do. They are not really superior to citizens in any real way. I'm pretty sure if they had to spend a few days being a REAL police officer they would hate the work. They just like the quasi-authority that the uniform would get them in certain situations so they can play cop and act out a fantasy on their own terms. I notice all those people who get busted for playing cop are always trying a traffic stop, or patrolling, or doing something that involves them flexing. Its never something like them parked in the street, directing traffic in the rain while wearing a reflective safety bib".

Even absent a gun, the dude is advancing on him with violent intentions, and I'd still not blame the Uber driver for going weapons hot. Threat of grevious bodily harm is a valid reason to draw and fire. Threat of violence of any kind is a valid reason to use a firearm to stop the threat, either by displaying or by putting bullets downrange.

You are correct. In this case tring to back up probably isn't an option because as far as you know he has a gun and can kill you before you can get far enough. He also had a passenger to worry about. I agree that all Uber drivers should carry if they want. I am CCW and carry everywhere I go except Federal buildings and Airports. My life and my family's come first.
@@FFCRBDI lol liberal
Al Dee go away unless you actually want to have a sensible discussion.
I would have done the same and YES all UBERs shirr to protect their car and passengers.
@@Danny-hv9ox I believe Al is one of the hot heads that likes to ruff people up, but doesn't want to get shot when he says he'll kill you

Only real ASPers will know this one.
That dude is legendary lmao
This was very pleasing
So little time good thing he was alert and ready.
Attacker is dead too. One shot center mass. He did not survive. Bullied the wrong person that day.
thanks 4 informing us ... hope its true
Could have shot the tail light first
There is something wrong with you people.
NC_Rainman are these liberals or something^^^
@@Stormbless3d you turn a blind eye to cold blooded killers, and freak out if someone defends themselves. You are sick. You've never witnessed someone you love be taken from you by someone like this. I sympathize that a life was taken, but it was to insure that innocent people could go home to their families. So what if you think we're monsters. We're monsters that might save your life one day, while you cry about the person who tried taking it.
Screw Uber company policy. If I'm picking up strangers, and especially after I've seen some of the crazy, drunk assholes that Uber seems to have for customers, you'd better believe I'm going to have a firearm on me.
Jealousy is one of the seven deadly sins.
jealous from uber driver , nonsense .
@@albundy6685 he thought his gf was the passenger in the Uber. His gf was still at the bar and helped pay for that girls Uber.
I watched the video a bit ago and I still didn't even see the phone rewatching it
Uber drivers need to protect themselves because UBER is NOT going to do it!!!
Uber did not even make a big deal about their anti-gun policy until an Uber driver saved a life because they were carrying. Were I am Uber driver, not that I would ever, I would carry; I'd rather lose my job/contract than my life.
Sheriff Judd is awesome, love the message he sends out!
His press conference was gold.
The Uber driver just finished police academy he’s not worried about Uber 💯❤️🔥
honestly thought it was a pistol before the anaylisis started
Even I thought the guy had a gun.
John: use your vehicle as a solution
Me: runs threat over.
John:🤦♂️ not what I meant
I have actually done that before. Road rage cut me off, jumped out of his car with a knife, I ran him over. Lol
That is actually a judicious use of your arsenal. Turning the wheel left and gunning it would have suppressed the threat. If you insist on using your gun, you can always shoot through the windshield before the bumper sends him airborne, and then practice skeet shooting as he is flying. 😂
On using the car.. I was thinking to put it in reverse as the truck driver gets out, holding cars stopped with brakes. When the guy threatens, and gets close to side of my car or window, gun the engine while turning the wheel hard-right. The left-front fender should shove/knock aggressor off feet. Then shift to 'D' and escape. Can't do this last-minute; have to plan/think ahead and shift to 'R' before the guy gets anywhere near my car.
@Andrez Torres Sr. Right? That’s exactly what I thought lol
Not against somebody with a drawn firearm.
"Judd said Boek's criminal history included arrests for aggravated battery, burglary, and drug charges. He was also driving the truck on a suspended license." So.... He got what he looked for
yeah but his criminal history doesn’t play a part in this video
@@claytonkickflip7595 too bad so sad
Nah you’re wrong, he had already been judged for those past crimes and they play no part in this video. It was stupid to even post his criminal history.
@@claytonkickflip7595 and the future crime would have been drag his gf from an uber and assualt her. for years.
His criminal history cannot possibly factor into the kill decision, but it is extremely useful to us in post-event analysis. Thank you for posting it. This jackass was already on a mission to commit multiple crimes.
Yes. Yes, I do appreciate the lessons....

My work place is a victim only zone. I carry regardless. You only have one life, I can get another job.

"Looking swole" would be the correct terminology
The_Real_BruceWayne orly?
Lord Vader Orly?
I feel like he has the option to drive away. Instead he stopped, and even worse, he got out and exposed himself and his passenger to escalation which resulted in just that.
BEAUTIFUL AND QUICK RESPONSE!!!
AGREE that dash cam is VERY important if you own a car. It saved this guy's a$$ more so then the gun hindsight
Uber suspended him...
Guy protected his life and his passenger's life, but no, Uber suspended him.
@Nickel Mgtow agreed
Fuck uber
policy is policy but it is still your choice.
He went to lyft
I mean he knowingly violated their policy. Their reasoning is logical; doesn’t mean it’s moral. I’m glad the guy is ok, I hope he can get back with them if that’s what he wants.
I would say what’s been said by countless others so I’ll just say this:
ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
F that! He lost his $9\hour job just cuz he was afraid of taking some bullets?
When you are part of the uber family, you are FAMILY!
Sometimes that means you gotta take one for the team.
As a previous uber driver myself, i can attest that it is 100% against policy to carry a weapon.
I hope they take away his uber window sticker, that is a badge that only a true member of the uber brotherhood can proudly display in their car
