The full build took 8 hours counting trips to the hardware store, camera set up, troubleshooting, and breaks! If you have any questions leave a comment and I will respond as soon as possible
thank you thank you thank for this! i’m planning on living in my renegade until I pay it off and I can get a van. This came right in time for me decision change to not get a van now.
Heyyy! Jeep gang! There’s no way I could live in mine but I’m glad you can make it work! Doing any cool mods in it?
Science definitely prevails! Laboratory Medical Scientist over here! My Rene is brand new to me and this build out is fantastic and something I want to do!
Thank you for sharing and going into all the detail!
hi fellow scientist, FYI if you use smaller hinges and 1x2in studs instead, it folds small enough to fit under the cargo area floor! I modified it and it worked out great! happy to share images etc. just remember that all the stud lengths will be different.
This is awesome man! I got my Renegade with the idea that I could camp out the back of it, so I might have to try a setup like this!
its definitely going to make road trips a whole lot cheaper too!
Thanks for the video - it gave me my starting point - I made my first part 52" long x 37" wide then added the second piece with hinges that was 20" x 37" then I built braces that hold up the 20" piece. Since when I travel the back seats are down and I need it all flat back there. Wish I could add the photos of what I made but hopefully, my measurements help you understand what I did. But thanks - I searched long and hard to find someone who did this with their Jeep Renegade. Awesome job buddy - awesome job.
I love to hear people are building their own stuff! I think I understand what you are saying. It your seats are down anyway, that seems like a great build. Since I modified mine to fit in the compartment under the argo area, I just drive around with it under there now!
I love this build! I watched a bunch of videos as to how I want to do with my Jeep and this is by far, my pick!
thank you! are you starting your build soon?
@@DaHoodScientist Yes, just whenever I have the time. It’ll be my first time DIY’ing (at least on a car) so it should be interesting. 😂
Dude, I like this idea. I would combine this with another video that lifted the platform and have under storage. I like the folding and carpeted aspect to it. Nice job!
I have some more vids where I showed the other stuff! Check them out!
@@DaHoodScientist Sweet, definitely will check it out. I'm patiently waiting on my 2016 Rennie that I get to pick up next week. But love the aspects of car camping. I would love to do some kayak camping with friends as it would be awesome! So far I like the a few people's ideas and may mash them up!.
Thanks!!
I have the same car, love this
Got a Renegade last week. Definitely going to try that out myself. Thank you for the detailled video!
Good luck!
May I ask if you built ?
We are going to make this today! I saw your post into our renegade Facebook but couldn’t find you to message you a question! Thanks for this!
Feel free to reach out on any social media platform @dahoodscientist ! I would be happy to answer any questions
you are so awesome for sharing the schematics, THANK YOU!!
Thank you! I am glad you found it useful. I hope you subscribed because I am dropping another video with a new and improved sleep platform!
Bad ass!!!! I’ll say that the webinar encouraged ya to make more vids!!! 😍
I love what you did. I may get a 2023 and I will do what you, with one exception. I will remove the rear seat. Cheers
Great for camping or hauling stuff. Thanks for the video.
This is PERFECT! Exactly what I need for my Renegade. Good work!!
I tried looking up build parts and unsure of screw size. Can you please post that again. Thanks so much. It looks like 5/6 but doesn’t make sense to me. Lol. Nice build and thanks for sharing
this was so long ago I dont recall there sizes but if you are using 1/2in plywood and 1in studs, I would recommend 1in wood screws.
Awesome build. ❤
thank you for including the google drive with the build plans/material list. super helpful! i just returned from lowes and will try for myself!
Share it on here or Instagram!
That’s really cool. I love it. Just got a Jeep renegade today and will definitely try your idea👍👍
Have fun!
This is dope! Currently living in an apartment with no tools so it's gonna take awhile to build me one of these!
I love this! Thank you for sharing. Ive had my Jeep Renegade 3 yeats & wanted so much to sleep in it. I'm in the UK and desperately need to get away with my family (2 adults, 2 dogs and a adventure cat) Campsites are so expensive and full. Everyone is stuck on this tiny island 😬 I will definitely attempt to make this. 👍🤞
You got this!!!
i realize I'm kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch new movies online?
@Brixton Alijah meh lately I've been using flixportal. you can find it through google :P -thiago
@Thiago Mitchell thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!!
@Brixton Alijah no problem =)
Freaking COOL your video dude. Keep sharing man! Awesome platform
Appreciate it! I haven't had much time for builds but I will keep uploading more content!
Exactly what I was looking for thanks!
Yessss this what I need for my Red Renny!!
Nice job..
I’m going to do this! Thanks
Thanks for this...i really like the idea and have a idea for it on a fold out sliding table as well.
Hi this is cool, I might do this for my Renegade. Thanks and I had also an idea for my jeep and will share it when it’s ready. Keep sharing!
I have completely changed up my camping setup and will share a video soon! make sure you follow so you can see it, its cool I promise lol
Nice! I have liked and subscribed. I made a quick foldout platform and was interested to see how others did it. I need to be able to fold mine up and pop seats up to drive kiddies around so it’s nice and flexible :)
Good stuff! Thanks!
I like this a lot. I’ll build it just like this. Thanks!
Amazing work 👍🏼
Thank you!
That's really cool we'll played what are the load dimensions with seats folded flat also full length from front seat folded forward to tailgate close I'm thinking of buying a jeep for home/work
Where did you find that cargo mat? Its awesome!
its this one here. if you were in San Diego id offer you mine since I dont use it haha
Great instructional. I’m almost tempted to try this.
Thank you! What’s stopping you from doing it?
@@DaHoodScientist Everything that you did made it look easy. Ideally I would like some sort of light pop up trailer. As a back up, this instructional is great. It was referenced within the forums on a site I saw after I watched your video. The blueprint for your plan was posted as an image in the forum.
@@jessieessex nice! What forum? I actually changed it up quite a bit and removed my back seat to give me more room. I can make a video if you’re interested
@@DaHoodScientist I’m thinking, now that I’m looking at it that it’s probably your post.
Great job 👍 turned out good.
I love it, good job 👏
Well done 👍. Rockin that Tribal hat is the key.
the tribal hats go wherever I go! I am the only one rocking a tribal hat in science conferences lol
Solid dude!
This is so good!! I'll be making this for sure!
that slight incline would murder my back. i would adjust the height a little and make legs for other side as-well to get it flat
That’s the beauty, it’s super customizable!
Love this. I want one for only the back seat 60-fold side of the jeep. And how did you get it flat..my seats do not fold flat
It will make a great cargo storage platform. I need to fold the seats down with weight to make them lay flat. Guess the previous owner never lowered the seats because they don't lay flat yet
That can be a pain, mine was new so it also did not lay flat! It makes measuring a bit of a chore
Wish it was like a WJ. The back seats fold outward so the backs lay straight. I used mine as a work vehicle so took the back seats out and removed headrests from the seat backs so still had storage behind rear seats. I was actually thinking about removing the lower seat bottom bit a hassle to put back in every weekend to allow passengers.
This is so awesome thank you!!!!
You are so welcome!
Loved ur work buddy 👍🏻
this is way more legit than my piece of plywood
Very cool - I like it, thanks :)
Very cool, but if you can afford to pay a little more, put a rooftop tent on it and you'll have a lot more space to sleep and can store your stuff in the Jeep.
oh man, if I could afford it, I sure would! maybe one day
thank you so much! converting my renegade soon :)
let me know if you need some tips and pointers!
Wow! Very imporessive. I wish I was handy like that.
To be real a car with a sunroof. Is better then a tent to be real
I did it! Magic!
And for the curtains/awning, can you give some advice?
you made one?? please share! I'd love to post photos of other's who have made it on my social media @dahoodscientist
I hate purchasing stuff that I can build so two of the plans I have currently are for window shades, for that I will use regular window screen attached to suction cups so that I can pop them on and off my window when necessary.
for an outside awning I plan on taking a long piece of PVC pipe attached to my roof rails. For that I will roll a tarp around a broom stick and stick it inside the pipe. The pipe will have slit cut the length of the pipe so that the tarp can be pulled out of it. one end of the pipe will have a manual crank to pull it back in. Not the best explanation, I realize that, but I will make videos when I build it!
Da Hood Scientist with pleasure I’ll share! I’ve got the same idea for the window (with suction cap and so on) I will share it too the next days 🤩
May I please have the plans to this!
Hi sorry I haven’t seen this message! Yes if you look at the link in the description you can see my plans!
Love the content keep it up
thank you! more soon!
Nice work!
Great job man! I am thinking to change my old car and buy the Renegade and put a bed inside too!Your video is very helpful! Looks like it is pretty easy to make :) Did you put the front seats totally ahead, in order to fit the platform, right? Maybe you said it but I am Italian and I didn't catch every sentence. Grazie, ciao!
hello! yes the front seats must be pushed forward as much as they can move. With the seats in their forward position you can get a maximum of 178cm of length. It was very easy to make and if you use smaller studs, it can actually fold into the bottom of the compartment in the cargo area! I have since modified mine and carry it there.
Does it lay flat since the rear seat doesn't fold completely down? Also, how tall are you?
Hey bud, I'm in San Diego also, and I am going on a camping trip at the end of the month. I really like your video, but I don't have the tools to make one. Would you be willing to make one for me for cost plus whatever you want to charge for time and labor?
hey there Rick, I hear you and I would normally be more than happy to help you out but my this is the busiest season for my job. You can actually bring all the measurements to Home Depot and they will cut what you need... and then just a drill and some screws would be all you need. Sadly I just gave this platform away last week, drat!
@@DaHoodScientist thanks for the great advice! I found someone who is able to help me out with the project. Do you still have your Renegade? Would love to meet up sometime!
@@buildanichesite I actually sold my Renegade and my next video that drops in an hour or so, I'll show you what ive replaced it with! I would still be up for a meet sometime!
Hi everyone! if you like the Jeep Renegade life check out my merch store for my new Renegade design!
Did u add water or solar or anything else yet
What year is this. I have a 15 idk if the measurements the same
Would someone make it for me and I would pay costs and labor? I would love to have one. Or would you direct me where to get something similar
I’m actually changing my setup, are you interested in buying mine?
Easy as genial
Nice bro
is it possible to pull the rear seats out temporarily ...so that its completely flat?
J.t.R. JP it is possible but kind of a lot of work for a slight incline
Hello. Thx for nice video. I am thinking to make it also for my Trailhawk. Could you please send me some blueprint with measurements after you redesign it? I am 6.1 tall. You think its suitable for me? David, Czech Republic
Hi David, I sort of freestyled the second design but I would be happy to share measurements. email me at dahoodscientist@gmail.com and I can send you a little write up. I am 5'9" and fit with only a bit of extra room. If you look at the blueprint, the head panel is only 22 inches but can be extended to 24 to make it match the other two panels. If you do it that way it'll rest of the backs of your front seats. If you choose to do that, a pillow between your sleep platform and the seat would make it so a 6'1" person fits just fine. I can take some photos of that and share if you want to see!
It didn't look very flat tho 🤕
How tall are you for reference
I’m 5’9”
How tall are you?
I’m 5’9”
how tall are you bro?
sorry for the late response. im 5'9
I meant it’s functionally simple to use
Like it’s so easy
Place inside
Fold out
Boom bop bing
You’re asleep
If you can sleep in a renegade then i surely can Lol
O
