I know that AGE did pretty poorly, but DAMN I love the model line. Many of my favorite kits come from AGE, and the AGE-2 line is still one of my favorites (I think the AGE-2 Normal SP Ver was my first P-Bandai!) I'm a sucker for grunt designs and the Adele didn't disappoint me. In fact, I like pretty much all the Federation grunt designs from AGE- from the Genoace to the Clanche. My deepest regret is that we never got a proper Genoace II Diva Color or Genoace O-Custom. I really liked Obright and he really got shafted in terms of models.
If Bandai does something like what they did to the HG seed line where they released new HG Astrays a decade later to the HG Age line by releasing Genoace 3, Adele Cannon, or the Space & Ground Adele Mk 2s, Id buy all of it
I love the way you build your kits, with the seemingly random splashes of detail color that come together cohesively in the final assembly. I build my HGs faithful to the lineart so seeing you abandon that rigidity is refreshing to me. Great video, I haven't given AGE a second or much of a first thought for that matter, and seeing your take has given me pause to reflect on how overlooked the kits from this series are. Thanks again, stay healthy!
"We could have had it aaaaaalll~ Rolling in the deeeeeep~" Wait, wrong Adele.... :p (but I guess the lyrics do fit, considering AGE kits looked great especially in terms of engineering, but sadly didn't became that popular because the show itself didn't became popular too)
It's a real shame Bandai never really reprint the AGE stuff, because I'd love to build huge swathes of the line. Your painting looks really great, as always, I love the Iron Man vibes I'm getting from the "face".
Love the simple, sleek, geometric look of AGE kits! I want to buy more. Since you brought them up, I'd love to see a video all about 30MM kits! Also, always love the little pops of color you give these things by using colored paint in the panel lines and divots, rather than just black/grey. Really gives it an extra boost of flavor and detail! I'm gonna start doing that.
Thank you! Unfortunately, the 30MM line and similar products are just a bit too generic-looking for my tastes. I don't plan to buy any of them any time soon. In fact, I've been somewhat disappointed that 30MM design techniques are now trickling up into more premium lines, like the Witch of Mercury HGs. A lot of recent designs may look interesting on the outside, but they're nearly identical on the inside.
Getting into AGE was probably the decision I've ever made while being in this hobby. Although I've built every kit, I still but AGE kits when I see them.
@@TheKrowSama I remember when I first started looking for stuff in 2018, I'd always see age kits, but I was on too much of an IBO kick to want them, and the adele always struck me as something id like, but the high saturation cyan wasnt my cup of tea.
I actually like these minimalist desgins. It has a lot of customization possibilities. Painting, kitbash, etc. Thanks for this video. I love your content eversince I got into gunpla. 😎👊👊
Unpopular opinion, but I liked Gundam AGE and its aesthetics. I hope those MG prototypes for the AGE-3 and FX will become reality as a sort of revival of AGE, MG F90 style.
Bandai announce that they are doing reprints of the AGE line, set to release in April. Gonna get me more of them, especially the G-Exes, G-Bouncer, and G-Xiphos.
I saw the list of what they are reprinting. But we can always hope that the sales of this line will provoke Bandai to reprint the rest of the AGE line. The Earth Federation grunt units were amazing. And the Bisidian pirates versions were cool as hell, too!
The entire Age HG line is underrated AF. I was playing around with some Vagan kits earlier today and was surprised at how well they hold up despite for being 8 years old.
question the front armor skirts did you cut them ? cause i just bought this kit and i’m not sure if i should cut the front skirts so the can move individually? & what pens do you use for panel lining ?
I think the writing is complete trash, but feel free to give it a shot. You'll have to give it *a lot* of concessions to enjoy it. As for the MS, it's also complete trash, which is ironic, because it somehow took *25 years* to develop in-canon.
Can't agree with you. Being out here in Japan, many of these kits flew off the shelves, because they were solid kits and awesome designs. The only reason the show failed was because of the character design and animation. The Adele is a sick grunt and I believe well worth the price tag, even if slightly higher than retail.
I do thank you though for reviewing an AGE kit. It seems like interest for the designs and series is starting to resurface which is amazing. It's my second favorite series, so I would love for the big wigs at Bandai to see we want more.
"failed because character design & animation" I'd argue it's more about the writing considering Level 5 also made the super-popular *Inazuma Eleven* with similar character designs & animation. AGE was simply too formulaic & messy for longtime Gundam fans but also not interesting & a bit depressing to newcomers & kids who were the supposed target demographic of the show.
@@androyus I don't know how well the kids took to it, but that sports anime has a completely different demographic. If AGE had a more traditional gundam animation, then it would've done much better, because the tone and story were fine. The two just didnt match.
@@TheKrowSama The point of Bandai recruiting Level 5 to do AGE at the time was precisely to get Inazuma's target demographic. Too bad the story didn't capture new audience. Maybe because Gen-1 was so boring & flat that people didn't even bother to stay for Gen-2 & 3. Well, good for them coz Gen-3 was a hot mess.
There are plenty of modern HG molds that are worse than the HG Adele, but they also tend to be more ambitious in either design or gimmicks. That being said, this has been one of my favorite HGs for a long time. I prefer the look of this over the Alto because I think the design looks more cohesive (I like the Alto too though) and I don't like the C-clip joints that much. I've always liked the teal for its uniqueness. It's also a great kit to test out color schemes on. Anyway, I still think the HG Age line was one of the most consistently good HG lines. I still find it jarring when people call kits from this era "old," though it's true.
AGE as a whole was just uninteresting. It has a lot of good mobile suit designs and concepts but it kind of used up that potential once we got to AGE 2. The Clanche I think was trying way too hard to be the Rezel and it's just not. If you really think about it isn't until the Adele and Genoace 2 showed up that the grunts were actually pretty good. The Genoace 2 is a little below the Adele but still strong and the Adele is basically what the GM is to the Gundam. A bit below the Gundam in performance but still a basic yet flexible machine.
never watch Age series before. Is Build Diver Guard Frame based off from this unit? Gives the similar vibe with different color tone. ps: i do share the love "boring and simple" kits :)
@@citrusjuicebox hey! Thanks for replying! 😲😲How do you clean them up? I've tried scrapping them off with hobby knife and/or rubbing them with thinner, but I could never achieve results as clean as yours.. :(
I've found that I tend to love grunt suit designs more than the actual Gundams or most ace suits, so I'm really disappointed that good designs like these get shafted when a series is maligned as much as AGE was.
The only thing I really don't like about this kit is that the clear faceplate is too dark to really see any of the detail underneath, although maybe that's different in person.
HGAGE is still the best High-Grade Gunpal till now. I don't really understand why Age kits never really took of, they have good engineering for their time and actually interesting
Probably cuz the show didn't take off either. It's indeed a waste.
Their anime went downhill.
Give the show a try and let me know what you think.
@@citrusjuicebox watching it back as an adult. It wasn't that awful. Also Flit is a jackass if you think about his character arch.

The Genoace and the new 30MM Alto line are designed by the same person, Kanetake Ebikawa, thats why you can see some common traits between them.
Would recommend painting the read of the clear visor in Chrome/metallic gundam marker, however,it will remove the detail behind the visor
