    I'm sure you people have more going for you than SLA (simple living Alaska) site and don't get me wrong, watching what you do to survive, interests me to no end. I just wish I was 50 years younger so I could do what you do. Minus the have to have items such as water well, solar, and gas for the car has to come at a price, so I really hope you "kids" make a real go of it. O yeah, is there any other family plans other than the dogs, chickens, ducks, and another cat?

    You may have already done it but I've seen people in Alaska put rails on their shelves to keep stuff from falling off in earthquakes...kind of like in some rv's.

    That is going to be a beautiful table. The wood grain will pop when you seal it. We had wood in my house drying and aging for most of the winter in 1983 there about . We built our own kitchen cupboards out of that wood. You have a beautiful home. I am so glad we are without snow so far this year. It is so much easier to get around. Less work for my husband too. 💕. @SimpleLivingAlaska  5 лет назад +2

      Hi NonnaGrace, thank you! We love using wood around the cabin, we were lucky to be able to bring some from our previous homestead too. The snow makes things harder but I think we are lucky we are having a mild winter for our first year here. :)

    Just a thought, you could make a bunkbed out of the dog beds to make more room? Younger one on top?

  • @sam-and-angela
    @sam-and-angela 5 лет назад +1

    I don't know much about dogs, so this may be a dumb idea, but... could you build bunk beds for them? Would they do that? If not, maybe use some of that nice birch to make table tops above the beds? Just my idea as an outsider who doesn't live in your home. :-)
    Plain mineral oil would work great on that table -- food/pet safe, easy to apply as needed, and odorless since it'll be inside your home. It's easy to find around here in drug stores, so maybe (hopefully) up there, too?
    Happy New Year!

    • @SimpleLivingAlaska
      @SimpleLivingAlaska  5 лет назад +1

      Very good ideas! Really never thought about doing that. Our dogs are getting older (9) but we might have to look into that! Good tip on the table stain also 👍

    Nice tour guys. Gin and I think that your subscriber count will take off this year. You guys really have a good thing going on with interesting content, beautiful scenery, and well crafted videos. Really love the table with all of it's natural elements. One of those half log benches like I built would be a nice bench for your table. Happy New Year you two. Jay and Gin

    Happy New years to you two. Great looking table, I made our bedroom set out of neat pieces of wood I came across while out hunting or camping. One of my daughters and I made all our rustic benches out around the fire pit. You'll never be sorry for wood recycling, and sometimes that means letting it warm you up twice... Once when you cut and stack, the other feeding the wood stove. How many chords of wood do you guys go through? Or are you still finding out ?

    • @SimpleLivingAlaska
      @SimpleLivingAlaska  5 лет назад +3

      We are far from good at woodworking, but it works for us haha! We are thinking we will go through the 3 cords we have and maybe need a half cord more.

    • @cinsidebackwardsnbacksideo5195
      @cinsidebackwardsnbacksideo5195 5 лет назад +1

      We'll keep at it, I love the way you guys are living, and where you are living also. When I shut our furnace off like this year, we will go through about 4 cords also here in northern Utah. Nothing better then the heat from a good ol wood stove. I really like way your videos sound and look, you have some real talent. I'll be rooting you on from here and hoping to see you out exploring, fishing, and hunting. You'll always be in my best thoughts, and thanks again for sharing

    That table is gorgeous and way clever. My cat Neferteri liked watching the dogs romping in the snow. She is right about not cutting any trees if possible. Our gov't is destroying them right and left for Monsanto and 5G. Assholes totally.
