It looks like paradise. You and your kin have come a long way on your cabins and out buildings. An incredible accomplishment for someone over thirty. At least I think you are over thirty...
You've come a long way since your first walkthrough of the sparse little log cabin! Now that you've provided yourself with all the amenities, you can enjoy your home and do all the things everyone else dreams of doing in Alaska!
A neat looking off grid cabin. I like the bedroom decor..... It's great how you have managed storage throughout the small space. You have everything you need!
Cute cabin, seems just the right size, the addition will be such a blessing to have the indoor shower and laundry area. As we all know, it takes time to get everything just how you want it. I love the ladder idea, very smart.
I Love your little cabin. You were saying you like separate rooms and plan to put up a wall separating your kitchen, but I feel that would make your kitchen chillier especially in the winter, it would prevent the heat coming from your wood stove in your living room from coming in there❤
The heat seems to stay fairly even but I’m ok with a little difference. The kitchen being cooler will be better anyway since the refrigerator and freezer are in there
Well aren't you the epitome of a gentleman living the off-grid life in Alaska !!! Love how snug yet practical youve made your wee cabin esp with the added extension of shower and laundry. Good on you. Youve made a pleasant cabin to live in and retreat to from the winter onslaught. Thanx for sharing. From a Nan in Down Under 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👌✌️👏🇺🇸
The addition turned out really nice, I like the mirror and shelves by the shower, everything you need is in reach! I bet the closet is a favorite too! Your home is lovely, all the comforts one might need!!! Thank you for the tour!
Quite the homey little cabin you have there Tony! I notice you have a well stocked kitchen too. I love a wood stove on those cold winter days. Thanks for the tour
Thank you for the video nice to see the semi-final product. Always good to recognize and be able to correct any issues, like water heater and filters. I too like divided vs open floor plans especially when it’s one person. All the shelvings great. Do you have issue with the earthquakes and shelf storage? Anyway we’ll thought out and implemented, thanks for sharing.
Nice cabin you have made for your self. So glad to finally hear from you all again. Is the rest of the family still up there with you. Miss seeing them also.
Love the atmosphere you have there. Brings back such great memories when Inwas there for a few years. Will be back again....soon. Do appreciate the videos and hope there are more to come. Quick question, how are land prices out your way? Thanks again
Wonderful Alaskan cabin 😊 It's funny when you said you prefer seperate rooms, we lived in Alaska from 1970 to 1999 and our house has seperate rooms and regular ceiling heights. We retired to lower 48 and the house is "open concept". It actually overwhelmed me, hated it. Got used to it but am actually looking at places on the Kenai peninsula. I miss my Alaska❤ Thanks for the tour. Loved it. Hope you have a safe comfortable winter.
Thanks for the tour of your tiny cosy cabin. You’ve planned the improvements well. Having separate areas also good for keeping warmth in those areas 👍. I see your gift is being used. I couldn’t help myself, thought it was appropriate 😊. Love the view of the mountains from your kitchen window. I went to New Zealand (Sth Island) recently, was mesmerised by the majestic snow capped mountains. You’ve done well from the time you bought your place. (PS: my contact no was on the package).
I love seeing the cabin, will we get a tour of the other cabins again as well? seems like there was still a lot you were working on in them last time we saw them.
I’m so glad that this additional room will help you more comfortable during winter time , are you consider about the toilet room attach to your house too? Great channel 👍
Great lil cabin! I'm still concerned somewhat for your safety when taking a shower without any ventilation going on in that addition. You now have your water heater venting in-room, as well as your propane heater venting in-room and your shower adding vapor. That area will be humid and during showering you seriously run the risk of running out of oxygen, it being dispersed by CO2 from both heaters and possibly CO if either burner doesn't burn too well (e.g. because it's running out of oxygen). Hate to see you drop to the floor and wake up dead while taking a shower... Perhaps crack open the back door while in the shower? Cheers on the great upgrades!
Love the cabin. Have you thought about plumbing the water heater after the pressure tank or maybe it is. I use the same thing but don't have a pressure tank and it's work great for three years now. Didn't think it would last that long honestly.
I used this one without a pressure tank and it was ok but on a fresh refill of the water tank because of how cold the water is you have to adjust it then and next time when the water tank is at room temp adjust again, that really wasn’t that bad but I want one that puts out a constant temp.
Hello, you always moan about the gasoline prices, then come to Germany, the gallon costs around $7.80 and more for diesel, the price last week was $8.90. Greetings from Berlin
Great tour. I’ve learned a lot from arching your videos. Have you ever had any issues with your propane tanks freezing up on you? I finally got my cooking stove in the yurt up and running and pretty soon I should have my hot water on demand system working and so they’ll each have their own dedicated tank. Just wondering if they should be covered or something during the winter.
Basically I want one that is thermostat controlled. This one just heats the water as much as it can as it passes through which is also dependent on how high you have the burner set and water flow
I was wondering if an on demand water pump rather than a pressure tank would fix your water flow issue. I'm also wondering if that would simply chew through your batteries.
The pump I use is an on demand pump. It is a 120 volt pump but works just like an rv pump. The water heater works better without a pressure tank for sure but it still has limitations. Such as the incoming water temp will change the outgoing water temp. That’s not a real bad thing if you can reach it from inside your shower for small adjustments which I have used it that way before as an outside shower. Where it is mounted now prohibits that so I ordered one that is actually thermostat controlled instead of flow controlled. I hope that makes sense.
@@MitchellsInAlaskayes it makes a lot of sense. I'm interested to see if that solves the issues for you. And the other question I forgot earlier is, do you have some sort of heater in your water tank to stop it freezing in the worst conditions?
@@alpinealpine2793 no heater in the tank. I heat with wood and have Toyo heater for backup. My new water heater has freeze protection built in it. It Will cycle on and off by itself if the ambient temp hits 32 degrees
@@MitchellsInAlaska thank you for explaining, I find all this very interesting. Where I want to semi retire,(if it ever happens), at worst gets to -6 Celcius which for you is somewhat mild.
