This cover was made specially for March Caprice (www.marchcapri...) a special event for Kingdom Hearts fans to celebrate our interest in the series, fan music, and fan art of all kinds! I always had an admiration for the music and community in KH as a whole, but playing through the games was particularly special for me last year! I got a better understanding of the characters, the crossing of motifs, and definitely loved the story Roxas had fighting his existential and identity crises. The beauty of The Other Promise is that it takes us from Roxas' theme into this reharmonized and more grandiose arrangement! I wanted to bring a lot of subtle connected KH melodies into this and give a few stages of the arrangement - Start out with ethereal smooth, arguably more faithful grooves, move into that middle ground of driven but clean textures, and end with a nice heavy, choir-addled chorus that feels fun! Fans of Avenged Sevenfold might recognize the fun ending too! OH and say hello to my Abasi Legion 7 I got like-new, it's an absolute beast for versatile modern guitar tone!
I sincerely have to thank my bud @DavidRussell323 who has created a ton of good resources for understanding KH music and its themes, let alone the whole team at March Caprice inspiring us all to create something extra special! I hope to do more Kingdom Hearts arrangements if not an outright project, but we'll need to work on my original album first... (fabiotheiguana): Nice Majesty symbol ;) Dude I remember this dropping during March Caprice and now circling back through your material, this is still definitely one of my favorites!! It portrays the intensity and desperation of Roxas's theme and the battle with Sora so well. But besides that, the progressive metal elements are done very tastefully! Modern, but not too derivative of any particular influence. And of course the latin style guitar outro, c'mon you can't beat that, no sir. Great job!
