      I've got several ideas I'd like to script out. How's the writing/scripting process going for you and any tips on writing for youtubr videos that might help?

    • @JoshKorzan
      @JoshKorzan  2 года назад +2

      @@paulberber It's going fairly well. Although, I'm sure there's plenty that I can stand to improve on. I'm not sure how much I have as far as scripting advice, but here are a few things that come to mind.
      1) Dedicate time to brainstorm video ideas
      2) Ask yourself if the video will bring value to others, and if it won't maybe do something else (keep the viewers in mind)
      3) Set aside time specifically to write out the script- don't rush it
      4) Work on scripting multiple possible titles. This may be just as important as scripting the video itself. The video script could be great, but if people don't click, it won't matter (same goes for making a good thumbnail)
      5) I use bullet points for organization, but more or less, I write out word-for-word at the moment. Some people go unscripted..others entirely scripted, and anywhere in between. I think it all can work just fine. Find what works for you through trial and error
      6) In my scripts, I'll capitalize words that I want to emphasize
      7) I'll highlight sections where I want to add specific b-roll
      8) I recently started scripting out a "hook" in the very beginning to serve as the intro- I would keep it compelling and short..and probably front load the video with Fx and b-roll to grab attention
      9) I have also found it useful to script using google docs rather than Word. That way, if I'm away from my personal computer, but find myself with time and another computer, I can pull it up and work on it
      I know that's a lot, but I hope it helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Great insights about the tough job of publishing consistently on YT! I wish you all the success and I already see that you passed "the relly on luck" phase :). I found you through a SkillShare comment you made it some time ago. Comparing your video journey, from first to last videos, there is a clear path of constant improvements in image quality, script/scenario, studio arrangements, confidence, YT SEO. Who are your mentors, if I may? :) Did you take Ali's PTYA course? And two things you didn't mention: what editing software are you using and what b-roll stock video database do you recommend?

    • @JoshKorzan
      @JoshKorzan  2 года назад +2

      Thank you Claudiu! I really appreciate that! As far as mentors, I've followed Ali Abdaal pretty closely, along with other med channels like Zach Highley, & Dr. Cellini. Following similar channels has been really helpful, and then I've also followed other channels that focus on helping new RUclipsrs like, Think Media, Video Influencers, GaryVee, Film Booth, Nick Nimmin, and VidIq.
      I took Ali's Final Cut Pro Editing Skillshare class, along with his New RUclipsr Skillshare class. I would do the PTYA, but that's definitely outside of my budget. I did also take a Skillshare from Marques Brownlee and an online course called 14 Day Filmmaker. All of these resources have been very helpful! I've delved into many others..just can't remember all of them at the moment.
      For editing software, I use Final Cut Pro, and I've been getting stock b-roll from Storyblocks. Hope this helps! Thanks again for watching and for the feedback! :)

      @@JoshKorzan I actually have a question, so I’m gonna film with my iPhone and I watched vids about mics and all that and everyone talks about the rode videomicro shotgun microphone, and they say that the quality is pretty good and it’s budget friendly and I am on a budget, so if you know if it’s good I’d be thankful for the help cuz I bought a mic and it turned out to be a waste of money so I don’t wanna waste more, I’m going to get it with the boya by-m1 mic so I would have options for every vid so what do you think about the rode one?

    • @JoshKorzan
      @JoshKorzan  2 года назад +1

      @@positivevibes2871 the Rode VideoMicro is solid for a starter mic 👍. Just make sure it’s close to your mouth and the audio quality will be fine. Also, if you’re filming with your iPhone and you haven’t already, check out the Filmic Pro iPhone app. I’ve been using this pretty much from the start (still do) and I’ve been happy with the video quality through the iPhone with this app. Ali Abdaal has a video on adjusting the settings in the app that is helpful. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
