Cold War is one of those games where despite the reused maps It still feels new because they added areas that couldn’t be explored in the campaign missions like even more so compared to ascension maybe not on par with five but still
Not only is the bunker in forsaken a multiplayer map, but it was also used in the mission where you go through the KGB headquarters as Bell and Aldler. It is one of the most reused areas and they added just that left and right side to it to make room for the wonder weapon buildings station, and the wunderfiz.
Really been enjoying this series! It’s so fun seeing how and where stuff is re-used, same kinda feeling of playing through the older CoD campaigns and suddenly being able to recognise a part that was used as a multiplayer map
The amplifier room in forsaken is heavily based off the bunker in drastic measures and the Gluboko gunfight map (which released alongside Forsakeb). You can most easily tell from the tube-like shape of the room and stairs leading to a platform.
Been watching a ton of your old (& new) zombies videos and I really enjoy your style! Usually very succinct with great editing & unique video topics, mixed with some standard commentary/thoughts. Keep posting Zilla, your content is excellent
Honestly, i was beyond impressed w cold war that despite all their crunch time and rushing, i really believe bo6 is gonna be the best zombies iteration in the whole series. Sure bo3 defenders will continue to gatekeep bo3 being the best and in many ways it is (custom maps/beloved characters/classic gameplay/good map design and aesthetics) but i think bo6 will go even beyond that (probably minus the custom maps although if they did decide to have that, then bo6 would be peak)
Never played the CW campaign past the first 1 or 2 levels as I found it extremely boring. Reusing assets from campaign/multiplayer is not a crime, if it were then WaW would be hugely rejected as those maps are almost 100% reused assets.
i love coldwar so much, like honestly i love when zombies maps re use parts of the campaign/MP. like ascension for example is just an absolute barn yard slapper of a map and it’s like 100% from campaign/MP. it’s kinda like a fun easter egg seeing what maps re used what parts of other maps
The reusing of maps kinda makes me happy in a sense because it means the great level design of the campaign was (sometimes) expertly translated into a zombies experience, which is just nostalgic for the same reason WAW maps were. Seeing locations and going “ooh, I’ve been here before” always impresses me because it’s so different but so similar
You pretty much nailed a lot of info in the game. DM was the first map created that had the most thought put into it as a new map, and also to serve as an 'easy' map with a easier map flow for beginners. FBZ reused the main area, then when you teleport the base, that area is entire built from scratch. Also the bunny room you enter that's a dark forest is actually a separate floating cube built from map assets that's placed way behind the mountains in the background. MDT had a lot of reused layouts from the campaign, but still pretty creative. Foresaken definitely used a lot of campaign layout due to time but was always planned as a map from the start.
I always wondered why they didn't add the scrapped Chaos Storyline maps into CW and just add the CW mechanics to it. I didn't know how long it takes to make a video game and Treyarch was definitely stretched thin
I’d compliment them for saving resources, too bad none of these maps stand out at all or are even that great to play. This game set the zombies mode back a whole decade. And that’s NOT a good thing.
Great video! Surprised you didn’t also compare Forsaken with the multiplayer map based on that same location. Anyways, perhaps you could do one for Vanguard since it’s technically a Treyarch zombies experience? Also I think a video exploring how BO4’s Blackout mode and multiplayer reuses zombies locations. Like a reverse version of this little series.
If there’s enough examples, I’ll do it. I also want to revisit Kino Der Toten, a lot of people say it’s from a campaign level in World at War and I want to confirm it
@@theGODZILLA150 100% true, bo4 was too ambitious, had a thousand ideas thrown in the middle, and they wanted to make something big like bo3. That didn't work. Bocw was more "modest" re using some assets e etc, but was way better cause the direction was actually something well done
Yeah if they added more modes like grief into the game with a few smaller, more replayable maps, it could have been a great addition to the bigger cross-platform pool of players. The lobbies for these extra gamemodes would be more full than BO2 ever had.
being stuck on battlenet means mods are out the window by default, but i honestly have no idea if they wouldve let it happen even if the game was on steam guess we’ll see with cod 2024?
@@deathtrooper2048 When he is referring to mods, he means fresher, newer maps. It is gonna be inevitable that you will get tired of the same 14 maps over and over again. Why not freshen your experience? Playing new maps, more gamemode options, and newer weapons at your arsenal. It just makes sense to change things up when the developers do not bother taking the risks that they used to when they had more passion about the projects.
The fadeout at the end of the video was hillarious

I love the series, great videos man
i absolutely despise cold war zombies but this was a great video regardless, really love this series
I really like the reused assets
When i first played the forsaken i was like OH I REMEMBER THIS ITS FROM CAMPAIGN LET'S GOOOOOO
Exactly what i was looking for! Thank you
The lab/collider area and the offices were a condensed and rearranged version of the headquarters in the campaign mission Desperate Measures
Oh yes , the legend has returned
The firebase part of Firebase Z borrows assets from Array from the Blackout map in Bo4. Which of course was based off the Bo1 mp map.

despite the maps being reused, the maps still play very well are are fun. and that's the most important thing

Aside from Foresaken, it worked pretty well in Cold War. Especially Mauer Der Toten. As long as it gives me a different feel, it’s all good
babe wake up new theGODZILLA150 video
The part at 4:56 reminds me of that narrow area from the KGB mission when you're trying to escape after rescuing Belikov, I might be wrong though
Request for more videos like “The Oddities of World at War Zombies” Zombies.
i love youre video's

Wow I didn’t know the only reused part of firebase Z was the spawn area. I thought the entire map was reused
I thought so too until I went back and played that level. I guess it’s some kind of Mandela effect
Mauer Der Toten Have me ptsd because the Panzer Soldats
I always wondered why they didn't add the scrapped Chaos Storyline maps into CW and just add the CW mechanics to it. I didn't know how long it takes to make a video game and Treyarch was definitely stretched thin
please do reused maps in vanguard and maybe even have a look at iw, ghosts, exos and ww2 would love to see that
No one else has noticed that Mauer der toten is literally a port of Berlin Wall from black ops 1. The challenge/wunderfizz area is a copy paste
Which section of Berlin Wall did they use? I took a look and saw areas that were similar, but didn’t look identical to me

Would be cool to see this series continue on with Ghosts' Extinction, AW Exo Zombies, IW Zombies, WWII Zombies and Vanguard Zombies

Can’t wait for treyarch to reuse maps in thier next black ops game do you can keep the fourmla
I was just talking about something like that
When Reused Maps in Vanguard Zombies
I might have to get the game first
waw zombies maps belike 🗿
Cold war re uses a lot of assets, and still it is miles better than bo4 zombies, which doesn't re use that much assets
As I always say, good direction is the most important part of making a game

Completely disagree. I’d rather play BO4 than this
imo, this couldve been the best zombies from a gameplay pov, but the sheer lack of content + no mod support means its mediocre at best

I personally think the loadout system kind of hampered its potential. The game was far too easy.

The zombies is way better than BO4 and BO3. If you have to mod the game to make it good, then it sucks

its stupid that they rushed cold war for vanguard. it was such a shit WW2 game
Agreed, I wish they didn’t try to be so ambitious with Vanguard
