1971 was the greatest year in rock 'n roll history. So many bands put out iconic albums that year, or the best album of their careers. The Stones accomplished both with Sticky Fingers, a watershed album in rock history.
I Fuckin love Mick Taylor...I've been trying to play like him for over 30+ years, but anyone that denies Keith and the rest of the band in this show is Fucking Nuts!!;! This is Amazing start to stop!! Thank you for posting this Important History!!! S.F.
First Real concert in Detroit 1968. Sister was a Big Monkeys fan. Got 2 tickets. Mom made me go with her. They didn't know the Rolling stones were there. Cobo Hall Detroit. Was 11 Years old. Dig it.
Mick Taylor is the man! Replaced Peter Green in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Played with the Stones on several albums and live. Toured with the great Jack Bruce. And has continued over the years, playing concerts, and in blues clubs. He has a unique style, curling melodies through the music 🎶 ♥ 👌 The best! Thank you for posting.
@@neilus Yes a decent player. Without Bill, Charlie and Keith 's work, he is one boy in the crowd. Try him with this video with Little Feat and let's open our ears.
Arguably the best live Rock & Roll recording ever made; the band at their all time peak; whenever some young musician has negative comments about The Stones based on more recent performances (with Ron Wood, the world’s LUCKIEST guitarist) I encourage them to listen to this…it don’t get much better than THIS; the greatest Rock & Roll band in the world firing on all pistons
Had to laugh at your Woody description. Most fans give him his due, but for me Mick Taylor was the best Stone from the trio of Jones-Taylor-Wood. Wood was much more productive with the Faces and Rod Stewart; his mandolin playing on Stewart's hits is iconic. And YES, 1971 was the Stones at their peak. For me, the 1968-1972 Stones were Rock and Roll Gods, and 1971 was the zenith.
@@markb20 in terms of sheer virtuoso guitar artistry, I agree about Mick Taylor, but it was Brian‘s band to begin with; probably the first high profile, white guitarist to play slide; to me, he soloed best on the harmonica, but, by all accounts, he was a troubled soul
FARRRRRRRK this gig went off. How about that rendition of 'Midnight Rambler?'....boys on fire. Imho Mick Taylor took The Stones in to the freakin' stratosphere. They were already great, however Taylor was the 'booster rocket' that I believe took the group to a sound like no other from the Stones. Greatest lineup for me. It's a bit like the various lineups of Deep Purple. For me it was the Mk II lineup that was my favorite; Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. That lineup just pumped & peaked. But this is all about The Rolling Stones. And for me the Mick Taylor years were their best.
You gotta love the cool snapshot of late great Charlie Watts smoking a cigarette sitting in back of his Gretsch drum set and Bill Wyman on bass and listing to Mick Taylor weaving his magical melodic notes during Brown Sugar.. Hence, Ladies & Gentlemen It's The Rolling Stones ! Let It Rock !
i have many, many Stones concerts on my PC, 800 ?? . I saw them for 30 concerts since 1976. Brüssel 1974 good, Bremen 1998 ok, Perth 1972 very good, lost concert NY. good . But, but Leeds is the BEST.
I saw them at Leeds round hay park but I was too young to appreciate the experience. Would this have been in the university refectory? Mad to think the stones and the who played there at their peak. I'd have thought that after 1970 they'd have only been playing huge venues so I'm surprised they played here at this time. I've been in the room where the who played live in Leeds and I'm assuming the stones recorded this at the same location. It's not a big venue.
If you read the comments thank you so much for posting this!!! I’d very much like to talk to you about getting a copy so I can listen in my car without ads. Please reply!!!
Some can notice bill Wyman's hugework. Peak on Keith solo of Little Queenie. Mix between Keith and Bil, on Charlie's work made de Rolling Stones sound.
IMHO their best live recording. JJF before Keef decided to up the tempo on later live shows is always preferred but only downside is no Street Fighting Man to finish the show.

Not to mention playing with Alvin Lee, Jerry Garcia, Debbie Davies & who knows who all. Quite remarkable!
Carla Olson too
Oh come on. He was a decent player, but he was never in the Page/Green/Clapton/Hendrix/Beck class.
