Taylor was undoubtedly a more fluid guitar player, but as far as composing and playing unforgettable guitar parts, Richards was unmatched. I don't need to list the riffs he wrote that powered their greatest songs but he was also an incredible lead player. The leads he composed and played on songs like Gimme Shelter, Sympathy, Honky Tonk were incredibly creative and unforgettable. I did see them twice on the recent tour, early on in Arizona and later in LA. Richards definitely payed better as the tour went on. I would agree with you though that, as much as I love Ronnie and respect his playing, as a live act they were never better than with Taylor. Cheers.
Who needs a guitar tuner when you're Keith Richards? 😂 Great gig, really love the footage of Hyde Park ~ The Stones in all their glory at the beginning of the dream run, 1969 - 1973.
Mick Taylor was just 20 years old here - and already he was the best musician the Stones ever had - (with the possible exception of Charlie Watts) - opening the show on this day was a new band called "King Crimson" - they had not yet released their groundbreaking debut record - but were already the toast of the town - their original line-up would break up soon after the record's release 4 months after this show ..
This is a concert that probably never should have happened. Founding member, Brian Jones had just died 2 days before the concert in early July, 1969. Brian had been responsible for the birth of the Rolling Stones and he defined the early sound of the Stones and his continuous experimentation and innovation sparked it forward. The concert was then billed as a tribute concert but the Stones should have been questioned if that was accurate. Was the concert just an example of their vanity, narcissism and need to grab attention? Certainly, Jagger wearing a dress did not seem very mournful and playing violent songs such Midnight Rambler and Sympathy for the Devil did not seem remorseful. Stylistically, the band seemed lethargic on stage for most of the time and their guitars were sluggish and out of tune. Their depression and reluctance came through in their music. Still, no one in the audience seemed to mind because no one had heard them play live for several years. In retrospect, it was all a strange time. The world was burning up every day in Vietnam and on the streets of Chicago and Los Angeles. War and racial injustice were prevalent. People had looked to the Stones for something they could never provide: heroism and leadership. The band were not political figures, negotiators or uniters of the people. They simply played the blues and their music reflected the violence of the times. C'est la vie.
Mick Taylor IMHO was the best sone's guitarist 🎸 it's indeed the rarest show❤ many thanks to authors and to the all concerned 😊

This is a better version than the Blu-ray release
That section that starts at about 3:21 is the most badass rhythm part I can think of.
Right after Brian was found dead 😰
Not hard to tell who is tripping in the crowd lmao, best year for the best music and best acid

The audience didn;t mind because they were all STONED
They gathered no moss ...👍🏻
Interesting to see who you can identify in the background. I think I saw Fripp, Sam Cutler, Prince Stash & of course MaryAnn. Anyone find Anita?
At 2:31... Is that Robert Fripp watching from stage left? It's just a brief glimpse...King Crimson was one of the opening acts.
Yep
This would be a classic album if released, the sound is raw and authentic.
Офигеть!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Платьице прикольное😁
Brian Jones tribute concert?
Tout à fait.
28:51 Stu wanting to play piano in Honky Tonk
King Crimson were the opening act.
Dwaj najlepsi wokaliści rockowi to Peter Gabriel i Mick Jagger.
First tune so masterly! towards the end of the gig it becomes slightly boring.
Sad songs is all they knew..

"I'm Yours & I'm Hers", "Jumpin' Jack Flash". "Mercy Mercy", "Down Home Girl", "Stray Cat Blues", "No Expectations", "I'm Free", "Loving Cup", "Love in Vain", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", "Honky Tonk Women", "Midnight Rambler", "Street Fighting Man" and "Sympathy for the Devil".

Oh there he is....not much in the vid
Ciego
@@williamnorkelun1468his first gig in the band.
He was there just playing in a different key signature.. Eventually, the stones caught up.
That's a stupid looking outfit Jagger's got on.
LOL, this was 1969, everything was weird
Bloody awful
С 1969 и по сей день играют на инструментах так же грязно.За 55 лет эволюция - доли процента.
Los verdaderos rockeros, hasta nuestros tiempos,The Beatles ocultaban su maldad ,Los Stones no!¡😱
