Thant’s a great old Case these old Case knives from the era of this one were really good not sure the steel is as good as todays but I like them as they sharpen up great
The same people that give you grief about Remoil will just love Ballistol, not realizing that BOTH are simply mineral oil with a mild solvent. They work. They ain't miracle sauce😂
I was about to make a comment about using Ballistol on leather sheaths and how great it works, and saw that you beat me to it. I use Ballistol for all my knives and guns, and anything else I need to use oil for.
I really enjoy your videos. May I suggest you add canned air to your knife restoring arsenal. You can use it to blow the grit out of that pivot. Thanks Doc
my current Buck folding knife is the 251 Langford with the green G10 handle. If I can keep from cutting steel braided hoses it stays razor sharp. It is an import but I like it a lot.
I’ve got a 1966 that. bought after boot camp. It’s not stainless, it’s regular carbon steel, other than one of the slabs having a small chip out of its as good today as it was back then, and I carried it for many many years! That Flits is the best!
At first I thought you'd paid too much for that folding hunter but after you worked on it for awhile I realized the potential it had. Good find and a great restoration!
Came out great. Don't worry what people comment about not using something, more than likely they have never even tried it and are just parroting someone else. Thanks for sharing, Live Long Prosper and Collect Your Own Way!
Man, I totally love those old folding hunter Case XX knives. I restored two here while back. They turned out pretty good also. The one was a gummed up mess.I had to oil that bad boy 3 times. I'm still working it out too. I don't know what the heck they got in this knife. But, the messier the better for me. I enjoy tackling the more challenging restorations! 😊 I am excited about the Live Auction Kevin! Those boys better bring their wallets.... I love me some Auctions. I love me some knives. So, be ready everyone. There's NO FRIENDS in the Auctions! 🤣😂🤣😂
I personally use mineral oil on my leather sheaths. Reason being is because if I use my blade for any kind of food processing I sure don't want a petroleum product on or in my food. I think thats why most people are saying you shouldn't use rem oil on your leather sheaths. Get you some mineral oil and Ballistol.
Don't ever get tired of making these videos.....but you have a passion for what you do and it shows....keep that knife doctor footage rollin Sir......I look forward to your videos every day....stay sharp
Nice job. I've used an inexpensive ultrasonic cleaner with dawn to get rid of the gunk after the first scrubbing - I think it loosens the grime in the small crevices well. Great channel.
The grime in the pivot just needs some WD-40. Once you get you a good amount of WD-40 open and close the blades a few times and it will pull that grime and grit out of the pivot.
Great knife . Good work on it. I really like the Hunter folding knives . I want a old Schrade one . I do have a Chicago Cutlery Hunter ,that's a great knife , it's very sharp also.
turned out great,i had a early 70s folding hunter like this that was beutiful but the blades was hard to open it had been polished and oiled but my fingernails would chip trying to open it so i had to sell it
What might work is using very very fine sandpaper on that clip point could take away some of the previous grind marks , I love watching your work it's become a daily highlight for me thank Buddy !
I'm really not picky. WD works also and just about any oil but for last couple years I've been using Rem oil mainly because I can get it for a good price at WM. Like you said been doing it for a couple decades atleast and never had any problem
Love the channel and content Doc! Question. Why do you clean and oil before fixing edge? My concern would be it's too slippery to repair or having to do all those steps again. Love the content, my dad passed Down a lot of case knives that I added to my collection including a like new hunter. Keep it up brother.
As you say, "Sometimes ya gotta let an old knife be an old knife!" Agree wholeheartedly. Another beautiful restoration.
That’s it!! Thanks for watching!!
Had to earn your pay a little on that ole girl. But you brought her back to life. Can’t beat those old Case Hunters.
What a great old folding hunter restoration! I have a tremendous amount of respect for your dedication and skills.
Thank you!!
Nice Case make it pretty. Thumbs up to your video.

Turned out great with a lot of good years left in it.

Gran trabajo amigo.
Amo sus vídeos.
Tengo un Buck 317 similar a ese Case.
Saludos desde Uruguay.
Muchas gracias!! El Buck 317 es muy similar al Case Folding Hunter!! Gracias por mirar desde Uruguay!
Great looking knife. It’s got a lot of years left in it and you gave it’s dignity back. Thanks for the video!
Thank you
LOL 😅 I think I bid on that knife too! She's pretty now ain't she!
At first I thought you'd paid too much for that folding hunter but after you worked on it for awhile I realized the potential it had. Good find and a great restoration!

You beat me out of that knife I was Bidding on that knife too😂
Great restoration, great knife!
I have mine from ‘72 exactly like this one. Cleaned a ton of game with it and it’s still like 95% good..
very nice job! One of my favorite knives, a classic!
Nice restoration of the Case XX folding hunter.
Thank you!!

Thank you!!
That was a great video Kevin awesome find!
Beautiful restoration.
Came out real nice. Great looking knife
Thank you!
Doc i thought you bit off more than you could chew with that one but it turned out fabulous
You do great work. You should try Remington Action cleaner to blast that grime out.
Thanks for sharing this!!
Nice score Doc , do you remember back in day when just about everyone used 3 in 1 oil ?
You do you doc. Turned out great. Saving knives and taking names.
I agree with you on the oil. It gets into the heart of the leather, then condition it a couple of days after it's sucked all that oil in 👍
jus got a knife lot on ebay and there supposed to be coming today!
That’s Awesome!!

Beautiful job! Great news about the auction, looking forward to that, thanks

Kevin your Case hunter , two blade has rose wood 🪵 handles or scales. 😊
Kevin Phoenix ✝️
Thanks for sharing this!!
I use rem oil , 3 in 1 and mink oil. Everything for a purpose
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing this!
So when are you going to start the auction for knives and Zippo lighters?
That was a great restoration on the Case Hunter knife. One of my favorites. I have two from the 70’s.
Amazing work !! 😊
thanks for sharing- what do you do with all your fixed up knives?
I keep them. I may be adding some to the live auction I’ll be doing soon on WhatNot. Thanks for watching!!
The way I see it you do a fantastic job on knives and sheaths alike. It’s your stuff sounds like they need to stay in their lane. 😂
Soak it with that Rem oil then blow the crud out with an air compressor 👍
Très beau couteau, très dur à trouver en France, mais j'espère en trouver un.
Merci de votre travail.
turned out great,i had a early 70s folding hunter like this that was beutiful but the blades was hard to open it had been polished and oiled but my fingernails would chip trying to open it so i had to sell it

Dried up leather, I use Mink oil.
Dirty leather, saddle soap.
If it belongs to you, do what you want, it's yours.
Thanks for Sharing this!!
I'm really not picky. WD works also and just about any oil but for last couple years I've been using Rem oil mainly because I can get it for a good price at WM. Like you said been doing it for a couple decades atleast and never had any problem

Thank you!! I wait to do the repair at the end, but it’s not oily or anything. It’s completely dry and clean when I work on the tip.
Be careful when working a dry tip Doc!
If I send you nitrile gloves will you wear them? How are your hands not cracking/splitting & being as rough as sand paper?
LOL!! I have Man’s Hands!
I just made a new handle s ale for one very much like that. Not stainless though
Did you ever ask your sheath maker about using Rem Oil on leather?
No, he don’t deal in old dried up leather. The ones I get from him I’ll condition with a WAX. Thanks for watching!!
👍❤️🇨🇦
I bet that knife has cleaned a deer or two
that's a biggun...
