- 3D platformer fans will find a lot to love in Astro Bot. Astro’s first feature length game instantly propels him to the all-star pantheon of PlayStation platforming greats, joining the company of iconic characters like Crash, Ratchet, Jak, and Sackboy, with the sharp level design and controls of the game guaranteeing it a spot in discussions of the genre’s best.
On top of that, with a bevy of secrets, references, and even entire levels and abilities inspired by and based on a multitude of PlayStation-related games and things from over the years, Astro Bot also a treat for fans of the platform.
Hopefully this is the first in a long line of many high-quality console 3D platformers to come starring the intrepid robot from Team Asobi in the years to come.
Im a grown ass man and this game is cute asf. Its goofy, its adorable, and downright fun as hell to play. Not only that but it feels really good to play. BUY THIS IF YOU CAN

Metacritic score gone from 93 to 94. Can it go to 95? True GOTY contender. Sony delivered the biggest fail with Concord and great success with Astro Bot.
Concord was not that bad as a game. By this I mean the actual gameplay, visuals and sound were good.
But it is still a failure, yeah

Support the game.. we need to start speaking with our wallet and let these money hungry business folks ruining the industry, what we want. Make a great game with passion first and foremost and we will support. This game needs to be supported close to the support mario gets on Nintendo.
I'm buying it in November when I'll get off from work for 2-3 weeks. Seems it'll be a lot of fun.

I'm really glad Playstation got a true mascot worthy ebough to compete with Mario, at least in terms of game quality and representation of its eco systems using the controller, visual, and audio

Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper were amazing Sony 3D Platformers, but I’m glad Sony got another awesome 3D platforming rival!!
It’s the platformer we deserve and it’s also what gaming needed. Back to basics, fun gameplay with responsive controls. Soundtrack and sound design are fantastic with the graphical power and SSD used well. I’m an older gamer(mid 40’s) and this is up there with the best platformers like Mario.
I have never cared for dual sense motion. But wow I was smiling and having so much fun using it in this game. Makes me even more upset that we will never see a Gravity Rush 3.
Also I’m so sick of all these cinematic games. Gray and lifeless. I don’t care if I can see the pores on a characters face. I feel we’ve reached a point where they’re starting to blend together.

I’m not typically into platformers but I had a $10 Best Buy coupon and this looks like so much passion was put into it that I had to buy it.
Xbox owner here (haven’t owned a PS since the PS2)… Jus tried this at my buddy’s house yesterday… And it’s a legit amazing 3D platformer!! Can easily win GOTY… Well done Sony!!!
I was initially disappointed in the core move set...but the level specific abilities and variety of gameplay in general have hooked me.
Just finished the first galaxy fully and I'm having a blast.
So happy I pre-ordered this game. Look forward to playing it and many videos about it. Astro’s Playroom had the best haptic feedback I ever played with for PS5. Look forward to this one.

It is super impressive technically IMO. The graphics is outstanding, it's not just pretty colors, this is up tp date. And butter smooth 60fps. Not to mention, it looks fun
Game is by far the best most enjoyable one of the year to me. My only wish is that you could make astro look like any one of the characters you rescue. Then it would really be the most playstation nostalgia game ever.
As an Xbox player; I'm a bit jealous. It would be cool if Xbox did something like this. Having a game that references all their IPs would be quite cool.

So in the beginning you mention Astro Bot's PSVR Rescue mission, the first full game of Astro Bot. But on the end, you seem to forget about that and say that it sends into the company of great platforming mascots with just one full game. But we arleady established this is the 2nd full game of Astro Bot.

This looks like a fun game and is getting great review scores. However, looking at overall package i think Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is more deserving of goty at this moment. But i wouldn't be surprised if indeed Astro Bot gets it

@@Penguino19 Rebirth doesn't feel like a remake to me and it's the game with most side content and extra's. I'd be fine with Astro bot winning. Wukong is not for me, it's all been done before and better. But all personal preference

eh, one man's 9 is another man's 10. I have also heard the base game is a bit short, so that could be considered a point off as well, especially when Mario games offer the same quality for 20 hours, excluding completion and gauntlet stages. It seems unanimous across reviews that the design and gameplay is flawless, which is what matters.
He also criticised combat which many people give primacy so let's consider it a 10/10

Great game but those lost levels really killed my enjoyment. They need to be toned down in any sequel.
For several years now I only buy on release (or dare pre-order) 2 games per year tops, everything else I buy is always on Sale, usually -50% at least.
But this game got my 1st full price spot this year; might be the only one, but Oct-Nov usually have a ton of games coming out, so I'll have to wait a bit longer.
40-50$ should have been the sweet spot
I hope Sony sees this success and pivot towards more games like this and this level of quality. Not that concord BS they tried to pull off.

Astro Bot is AWESOME, and easily a GOTY contender if not the outright champion. I haven't played a game this FUN in years -- it's forgivingly easy (unlimited lives so you can keep retrying levels) but the level design is so creative, you'll keep revisiting levels to find all the bots, puzzle pieces, secret exits, and easter eggs. My wife isn't a gamer, but both of us have been having a blast with Astro Bot -- we saw the trailer completely by chance a few weeks ago, unaware this was even coming out, and after having had fun with Astro's Playroom as the PS5 "pack-in" game, we were excited about this new entry into the series. She was especially so, and went on launch day to buy this at full retail (we almost always wait for titles to go on sale), and it's definitely worth it.
The square, triangle, x, and circle levels are some of my favorites for the quick challenges they offer. But the whole game is 10/10, no BS.
If this is not a10 I don't know what is!

Looks great, but they squandered the potential with the villains. Generic green dude in a UFO? Robot King Kong? They could've at least tried to make it something tied to the Playstation brand.

I can't stand my PS5 this gen due to how incredibly boring the console has been but the game looks promising. Tbh, I wouldn't at all believe the reviews if it wasn't a platformer. I mean, it's a sequel to a free demo.
I don't see it being a goty contender because every Sony player says that about every Sony game when most have been shite this generation. But Im gonna get astrobot, it looks good and if it's that good than awesome but if not I won't be too surprised at all. Xbox has had the shine with the first party output this generation tbh. So it's good Sony finally puts out a first party game. They literally just admitted today that they have not at all enough original games. I don't think they're gonna be able to catch up with the 30+ first party games Xbox has this generation...it's why they're able to put a couple on PS5 and everytime they do they're the best selling games on PlayStation.

(1) The game looks CRINGE. Why is this character always gyrating and dancing like an idiot?
(2) Sony has brainwashed you into not liking "kiddy games". So the fact that they made this trash is pure comedy. Who is this game for?
(3) You have been burned so much by over-rated mediocre Sony slop so many times that you are super cautions just by instinct.
