About to turn 57 .. single, never married, no kids. Happier than all my married friends ... I have freedom. I had the time to truly get to know and evolve into my authentic self. It was not my plan per se, but it's how things worked out and I'm not lonely at all. I have People. I have a job I love. I travel with single's groups and have wonderful peers from that. I'm an Auntie and a kitty Mom. I've enjoyed aging thus far and look forward to what life has to continue to bring. ps.. I don't own a home or make a lot of money, but have managed to provide for myself in a way that I am content. It's definitely not about the stuff.
I’m married and cherish my solitude. I’ve always enjoyed being on my own and never feel lonely. That’s why I actually love it when my husband and son head out for the weekend! I’m almost 60, and I believe it’s a stage in life we’ve earned. We’ve spent years catering to others, and now it’s our time!
I really needed to hear this beautiful message today - I lost my longtime partner of 9 years through death two weeks ago today. Prior to that was married 34 years and I have kids and grandkids. You give me hope that a new life is something to look forward to. Thank you so much!
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. And I’m happy that this video gave you hope through more than just one path to happiness although I’m sure it’s very hard. You can find peace in solitude as well.❤️
This I felt so strongly in agreement to!! I too have had complicated difficult relationships too. My husband of 21 years ended his life at his own hand in 22, devastating and traumatizing myself and kids. While I loved him immensely, he was SO HARD!! I have so much peace now and cannot envision having to deal with another man!! I’m relishing my job and free time. Just going to a store and lingering after work instead of constantly checking in was so freeing. At first it made me feel guilty but damn, I’ve had enough guilt for examining every reason why he would make such a horrific decision. Lately I’m thinking.. it’s my time to thrive. Love this topic. Alone but not lonely!!
@@jeam1 first of all I’m so sorry to hear your story. What I have learned is that it is through our struggle, through diversity and through our grief that we evolve and grow. I am also very happy to hear that you are thriving in your new normal, in your new reality. Keep on rebuilding your kick ass life so proud of you. ❤️❤️
Ditto Girl! I haven't been in a relationship since 2009. I'm 74 and couldn't be happier! I live life on my terms and yes, I am that cat lady...we have a blast every day. I do as much or as little as I want in a day, yayyy.
So love your message. I am 56 and I also am Over It! Lol I have zero interest in a relationship w a man. Out of a terrible relationship three years..... my issue is I probably love my solitude a little too much! I do some things that are social. I work full time in the medical field. When the weekend arrives I am happy to be home. I do tend to worry about finances.... Wld love to feel more secure in that area but will work on that. I enjoy not dealing w someone else's problems and shit! No more, not here for that. It's too much. You are very relatable. Yayyyy!!!! 🌺
@ I'm in St. Petersburg. Yes, I do love it, although the recent storms have done a number to many. Please tell me the name of your book, you may have mentioned previously. I just found you tonight. I feel like I could write a book! Learned lessons the hard way. Toxic relationships are tricky and you don't understand until you are in head deep and don't know what is happening! Crazy. Changed me. I will keep watching. I think RUclips is a great vehicle for helping others! I'm glad you started your channel!!! 😊 PS... I have used the same L'Oréal lipstick since high school! Sandstone 810. ☺️
I agree with so much of what you said. I to have embraced single hood.I stay active in my church, family ect. I also am focusing on surrounding myself with like minded people. There is peace and freedom in choosing where your energy goes.
New Subbie here just started my channel this past summer. Im 53 and have been alone for 7yrs! I am sooooo glad to have found your channel! It feels so good to hear someone that feels the way I do about being alone and feeling lonely. Tinestamp 11:00 I feel the SAME EXACT WAY! Im so excited to binge watch your content and catch up! I feel the same there are days i miss having a partner but that only comes and goes in waves! So thank you for sharing! I think we need more content creators over 50 sharing our journey’s and insights.
Just found your channel randomly on my feed and just sub'd ~ I also have two divorces under my belt (married 21 years collectively), didn't have to worry about money, etc. I was so scared to give that up but that/it does not compare to the absolute peace, confidence, happiness that I feel on my own. I LOVE my own space, my own decisions, my own thoughts, the ability to live life on my own terms and lay out naked on my bed sprawled out like a starfish eating chips ahoy cookies if I feel so inclined. I walked away with nothing but two suitcases of clothes. That's it. Started over and built my life up all on my own. Knowing that I can actually support myself on so much less than I ever thought I could and learning how to do that gave me confidence that I didn't know I needed. I do it on my own. Like, what?? I am so proud of myself! I'm 52 and also do not date. I'm not saying that I will never date again but I haven't come across anyone that would make me want to alter my current way of life in any shape or form yet. It's glorious! GLORIOUS - you mentioned good sleep. YES. The most peaceful sleep ever. Also just started HRT and lemme tell you, the brain fog, depression slumps etc has completely cleared up! 10/10 recommend! 🌟 100% on community!
"Stuff" makes me very happy. I don't have much but it is comforting to surround yourself with stuff that makes you happy. Just add a pet and you're complete!
I agree, sending surrounding yourself with pretty things and things that make you feel good is a definite plus. And I have four pets… Love them all.!!!
There are still some of us who are very happily married - and couldn't think of life apart. I'm very grateful to have loving people all around me, and have a best friend in a spouse. I realize it's truly a blessing.
Great topic and very relevant to women of all ages. You also look great! If you had said you were 50 I would have also believed it. Maybe there is really something to living alone that keeps us healthy.
I’m actually across the street from the beach but still I am lucky although I do love my home, the area is considered ‘undesirable’ I don’t care I love it. That’s all that matters.… At least I have a home❤️
Excellent video. It is important to find your community to beat loneliness. It also helps to prevent a person from choosing a new partner that is not right for them as well as prevent people from falling for relationship scams. One thing that I always thought is especially with people who lost their partner through divorce, they confuse loneliness with being frustrated with the current struggle. For most people, they experience a financial downturn, and if things get tough, they start wishing that they had a person to help them, and they think that’s “being lonely”.
Hello Emily, great video, very inspiring as always 😊you're 💯 correct peace of mind is priceless!! Love the recommendation for the glowy skin. Which color do you use? we have similar skin tone... Enjoy your stay in NY hope you're daughter continues to do well❤🙏
Hello from Ireland i just found and subscribed to your channel. I am over 50 live alone and never married. No regrets there as divorce rates almost every where are up and many people are realtionships that are not happy or suited too. I have dated up to recently but apart from who hurt me by dumping me by text i would like to meet a suitable partner but i am happy and at peace living alone. I have 2 cats and love animals. I do get lonely but i would not be with a man for this reason and mostly i am content. I don;t have close friends or see any family much. I do get out and socialise with meetup groups mainly. I am well over menopause i started. I do value my peace and quiet and having just me and the cats. Its the little things i miss in a relationship but we have to well suited and some values and interests.
