A very high quality high spec build that will immediately put this Man into a very well respected group of engineering genius. I also applaud the final finish on the trim and paintwork. He can almost name his own price if ever selling I think..
My father was a test driver for the original 6R4. He also had to record for smashing the most cars in British Leyland - whilst taking a mini around the factory for a test, the steering wheel came off going round a corner he then smashed straight into a metal fire escape on the side of a building which then fell onto a shed load of new cars. He did limp for a while but he carried on. Great vid, you have great skill and determination.
Listen some of us can only dream of doing shit like this. Man, I take my hat off to you. This project looks damned amazing. Absolutely fascinating to see this build and I hope I can get around to doing something this real soon. Great work! 👍👍👍

Gareth Burrows I think they have only just finished the wiring. Can’t imagine how long it’s going to take to break it back down, rebuild the motor and box and paint it.😆
CaptainKrimson you are right my friend. Hence I called this one 6r2. It’s a v6 2wd version. So I called it an original 6r2 not a replica 6r4. Does that make sense

Car looks amazing, I can remember when the 6R4 was outlawed and there was a field full of them at Cowley all unsold and in white I think the asking price was around £16,000, In the late 90s I was lucky enough to be passenger in one around the Silverstone rally cross circuit, what a great car made from something so humble.

Outdoor UK build. Proof that with enough skill and dedication, it isn't impossible to build amazing things without the luxury of a big workshop. I've built the last few of my projects on my gravel driveway and they've all turned out well. Nothing on the scale of your metro project though. Top job. Well done.

Major achievement to get a project of this size finished. In all of history it must be one of only a handful. I had a replica in my shop about 20 years ago. PRV Engine and Renault 30 transaxle. MkIII escort front uprights used on the rear. Just undrivable. Couldn't even drive it on the dyno. Nothing like yours. Look forward to seeing it the Hills 👌👍 Absolutely

Fantastic build, well done. I saw Tony Pond test the Metro 6R4 here at the Donegal Rally back in the early 80's. Engine blew up due to a stuck throttle cable.

It's all so much work, so much hand fitting, but when he had to widen the hood, to cut up something you just bought, that proves the commitment.

I've driven all types of metro's, the GTI was like the today's S1's back then brilliant car. Good build!!
