I was at that incredible match. It's wonderful to see Hector's goal again and relive that night. Thank you RUclips. Like the Beatles this proves how great those times actually were!
I don't even remember this match and yet I was a fan after seeing them play Pompey at Fratton park. What a great team of hard working players... and those white boots!
I was in the Ley Stand watching with my Father, I saw the first global superstar in Eusebio but Colin Todd marked him out of the game. It was a magical night indeed

Derby had a great team with a great management team ,entertaining and played in the right spirit ,ps wasn’t David Coleman a great commentator ,with him the game was the main thing .
The founder of macdonalds was a Derby fan and it was after watching this match that he renamed the Mac burger THE BIG MAC BURGER after seeing the class performance by BIG ROY MCFARLAND. He also tried to market an ARSEHOLE BURGER as a tribute to Forest fans but it proved to be as unpopular as their team.
My teacher in Ilkeston in 1975 - had a cine film of this match - or maybe the highlights, cant recall. He showed it at a special evening event at the school and there was at least 100 watching. Dont think there was any sound!
Love watching the old matches and loved Cloughies teams.Wonder what Benfica made of the Baseball Ground . Packed to capacity and the crowd right on them pitchside.
Excellent free flowing football,10xs better than the dross in the Prem. This is real football. Not pay to win, every team had a chance and every team passed and played good footy.
Simplel request: Can all players from the old Derby club of the 70s, come out from their retirement and replace all the players that Derby have now. 😂😂
It was still strong af. Season before this they were more than a match for Ajax and only team that went toe to toe with them and ppl even say Benfica shouldve had a pen in Lisbon and shouldve gone through to face Inter in the final. They were still one of best teams
When there was no passing sideways for the sake of it and if you lost the ball you just won it back. The premier league has gone boring. Too tactical. Derby back then were an excellent team
FA Hierarchy was so stupid and short-sighted for not allowing Brian Clough to become England's Manager in the 1970s and 1980s costing a few generations of players to keep missing out on the big prizes. The football that Derby County and later on Nottingham Forest were playing were absolutely magnificent. I grew up during that time in London as a Man Utd fan (and still am), always wondering how my team couldn't have a great manager like him until they hired Sir Alex Ferguson.
I watched John o hare playing at Sunderland ,mr Clough if I remember rightly was youth team manager after having to retire with injury ,he had considerable success as a youth team manager and the vacant managers job for Sunderland came up ,but he was never considered even though he desperately wanted the job ,Disastrous descision, also interestingly Mr Clough signed John o hare and Colin Todd from Sunderland.

I think that Pele was probably the first global superstar player.
Eusebio just came afterwards.

Hello....Yes indeed I'd like to see Pep Guardiola try and build a team with hardly any money to spend...he would fail to succeed
Mean feet ....Leeds had those😃
And did it all as pissed as a newt and drowning in depression. I'd like to see fergie do that!!
Individualist? He was a member of possibly the greatest partnerships in sport along with Peter Taylor.

HERMOSO ESTADIO, IMPRESIONANTE COMO ESTAN POR DEBAJO DEL NIVEL DE PASTO LOS AFICIONADOS, SALUDOS DESDE MEXICO
Derby had a wonderful team back then, all engineered by the greatest........ Brian Clough
Raymond McDonald they had but Ajax was the top in Those days. Cruyff
never got chance to find out who was top as Derby were cheated in the semis.
Don`t forget Peter Taylor and the backroom team.

A milionária equipa do benfica de início dos 70s levou uma abada naquela noite e nunca conseguiu repetir os feitos internacionais da década anterior.
What a night that was I couldn’t believe what I was watching
Good old British football

I’m sure there’s an episode of Micheal Palin’s Ripping Yarns when they do that 🤣
I'm a true dcfc fan , cut me and I will bleed white but I wish Derby County where that good now.
Don'tJudgeMe my dad always moans about derby
He grew up watching this side
I grew up watching Paul jewel 😭
Know what I’d rather watch
This Benfica was not the Benfica conquering Europe in the early 60s.
Only Eusebio and Simoes remained in this Benfica team.

Even though it was school the next day, occasionally you was allowed to stay up late for Sportsnight 🙂
