- It's time for a Kermit Adventure! Now I can tow the big trailer again, no more letting bargains pass by.
This time it's a 4 post lift. On the up side it was a mere £100 - on the downside it's a long way away, needs dismantling and is stuck behind a whole load of fancy cars. Going to be a long day!
If you want to join those supporting my channel (starting at £1!) you can check out my Patreon page here:

Many many thanks to all those that have supported me and the channel but please only send money if you have it to spare!

When checking the trailer strappage tension I believe you are required by RUclips law to say 'that ain't going nowhere'.
You'll wonder how you ever got by without it. I got a two post lift for £300 last year. Took a while to figure out how to convert it to single phase and I had to put a bigger pulley wheel on to gear it down but I just love it. Jobs I used to do laying in the dirt I now do reclined in an old office chair with a cup of tea on a table next to me. Another great video Max, thank you.
Kermit honestly looks better than any of those "premium" cars on that lot. ☺️
Thanks, I thought so too!
£100 the steel is worth that, great find Max!
Kermit out there hauling on the open roads! Definitely earned a cold beer after lifting that kit on the trailer solo... good effort!
Brilliant to see the old truck out earning it's keep.
My thoughts exactly.
Couldn't help flinching when I saw you were heaving huge lumps of steel about right next to a Bentley! 🤣
You weren't the only one!
Yeah, that was my first thought as well.... You'd have thought they would have shifted that for sure!
What a fab adventure ,ticks all the boxes. Thanks for taking us along.
Yeah... you know it's gonna be a big job when you say "oh, I'd better pack my sledgehammer".
That trailer needs a coat of camel!
Stand the building on the ramp so it goes up with the vehicle.
Great work, i fetched on in a transit.
Few things beat the sound of a Landy, when it's working hard...... Even after more than a decade, I still miss mine!
Thank you for a great video.
Love all this … there’s a great feeling when you get a bargain but you have to dismantle it and then when you rebuild it at the other end… just feels great… nice video mate 😂
Kermit has opened the door to eBay deals…this could get dangerous!
The circle lights in the panel in diffrent colors remind me of soviet cars like the UAZ 469 and the ZiL they are bring them
Kermit looks great!
Love the extra pair of hands, well lungs: “ how are you getting on there ? Alright ?” Exit stage left.
Anyone with ANY sense of decency would have given a hand. I’ve done it myself when selling “Buyer to dismantle and collect” items….The world has gone to sh@t…….
Good to see you again Max. Hope you're doing OK.
Bloody hell Max that looked like hard work for one person! Great to come along with you on another of your adventures, top video mate.
That's a proper shift you put in there!
All those superflous cars next to kermit, to move another step closer to self reliance, awesome!
That's a really nice heavy duty trailer, and now a four post lift. Nice.
Looks like an old Bradbury. Fit new ropes and if any wear fit new pulley wheels. They arnt as expensive as people think. If you fancy a similar aged 3 poster lift I’ve got one you can have. It’s being pulled out at the end of the month to make room for a new 2 poster. There’s hundreds of these old girls up and down the country 40 years plus still grafting every day. Shame things don’t last like they once did.
It is indeed an old Bradbury - a 700 I think. Thanks for the offer of another but one's enough for me!
Buyer to dismantle and collect… good job you had all the right tools! Good foresight and great effort Max! 🍻
Thats a propper bit of kit.. thought you ment car ramps.. good salvage
Got a feeling that the adventures of kermit are going to be a very popular part of the channel 😊
You did well on your own. The post with the ram and hydraulic oil tank, presumably still in hence keeping upright, are bloody heavy.
Well done for not whacking the cars on the forecourt
Glad to see Kermit earning its corn. It is the proof of the pudding..
I have seen a roof mounted to a 4 post lift/ramp rather than having multiple posts on the ground, think it even went up and down with the ramp
That is exactly how I roll! Best thing ever garbing a bargain, working out how to get it home. Strapping it on a old trailer. I currently have a lorry body on the back of a trailer I need to work out how to get off. If you fancy a challenge!?!
well done max and kermit the old landrover done a sterling job
Nice work my RUclips hero of frugality and ingenuity!
Easier to take the Kermie shed down, concrete pan and put up lift. then rebuild roof structure as part of the lift maybe?
I think the trailer needs to be painted in matching livery 😉
I always fancied a proper car lift myself but never had anywhere with enough headroom to instal one: it would have saved a lot of backache. Best wishes.
Back to great content times. Thanks max
Looks bloody heavy, good job you've been training!
Great Video
I worked for a time in a garage after the agricultural engineers where I was a second year apprentice went to the wall.
left on my own whilst garage owner on holiday and desparate customer waiting for his recon engine I used the for post lift to install engine ,
Bit dicey now that I recall ,I parked my beloved Minor 1000 pick up with scaffold board under back wheels, then an alluminium ladder over end of four poster and under board projecting over Ford 100E popular, rope sling round engine and on to a couple of ladder rungs. Up lift, up moggy pick up, up board , ladder and seized engine ...sorted..
Thanks for the content .
Dicey or not, it's still a win!
I bet you were absolutely exhausted 😩 Max. Can’t wait for part 2
Long days bring many memories, and a trip to the unknown is always a treat. Thanks for letting me ride shotgun.
I would also like a 4 post lift. good score boy and a nice bit of countryside to boot. Cheers
If you're planning on digging, it might be an idea to put in a small inspection pit whilst you can.
Defeat the point of having a lift wouldn't it?
@@jbuckley2546 It wouldn't. Lift can break, power can go out. Not all vehicles are equal dimensionally. There can be a case where some vehicle is too tall for lift only, but it could worked on from the pit.
@@PR_96 Fair point.
Kermit is running smooth !!!
*£6300 for a 13 plate Panda, crazy money! That's between double and treble what you'd pay for one up here in the North.*
Have never seen a panda and a conti gt beside each other on a forecourt before,
I just love the rawness of your Defender, just perfect. 💪🏻👍🏻
Kermit….what a great workhorse it’s proving to be 👍
Well done Max a fine example of doing your own thing and achieving satisfaction .
A car lift sounds like Man Christmas to me, I'd love one for tinkering on vehicles
well done and fair play on loading that amongst those obstacles!!! after a 3hr drive!
living the dream there. I really wish i had/ could afford somewhere to work on my car that i could put a 2 post lift into. Ive got to put a new engine in my mr2 and i feel a bit nervous using the engine hoist to lift the rear of the car to remove subframe and the busted engine. Property in Stroud is so expensive though, i kind of want to get away from here and find somewhere i can do/afford what i want. Seeing the kermit restoration was fantastic and its great to see it out on the road helping you haul stuff!
All your hard work on Kermit has delivered a really great unit. Well done.
Brilliant 😄 Reminds me of some of my Bright ideas over the Years 😄 Kermit is Fab, my kinda vehicle, Great Adventure👍🏻
had a trailer like yours years ago.good solid thing alas too much weight too many times killed it.
What a bargain, you had to put in quite a bit of work for it though.
Nice work on that trailer, and I suppose it's been edited, but I know if that'd been me, the brakes would have been seized on etc. etc. and that would have been another days work making sure that the trailer would actually brake itself!
Kermit earning his keep. Good ebay find
Nice to see Kermit out working 👍 we used to have one of those trailers, was a fair lump if I remember right… might just have been seized up😆. The lift will make Kermit’s services easier 👌
Definitely earnt that beer! Thanks for taking us along on the adventure. Could you integrate the whole Kermit house onto the lift? Imagine it raising up automagically! :-)
Kermit is a fine beast indeed. Awesome project that we saw you create. Fair play Max!
Really enjoyed this video, great to see kermit earning his keep - what a fantastic vehicle!
Great to see Kermit earning it's keep and without raising a sweat by all appearances. I imagine your weight lifting exercises paid dividends shifting all that lot. That'll be a useful addition to Casa Maximus. All the best, Mart in Solihull.
If there is a vehicle on the car lift, there does not look like there would be any clearance when you take into account the structure roof to lift the vehicle up to a working height!
Oh no, I wish I'd though of that! What a waste of time that whole mission was then. ;-)
@@maximusironthumper ha ha ha ! 😂
Got to love the 'bleedin obvious' comments 😁
All the best with your projects - great to see your down to earth practicality ... you get the job done, solid and reliable ! ✊👍
Cool 👍😃
I was waiting until the 7:50 mark wondering why you'd chucked a couple of batteries in the back!
Nicely done :)
You came just past me @ Yeovil 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Nice work. Kermit seems to go really well. Nice conversion and I’m help of the lift 👍🏼👊
Who wouldn't want a 4 post lift!
Nice find good luck with it
that lift looked like one i used in the 80s, one fixed rail, +one you moved to suit the width of the vehicle ? if it is, it was a good ramp. [in the eighties]
i will be disappointed if the roof of the building does not rise up as you raise the ramp...
keep it up young man
Great effort there Max.
Not sure why but I'd have love to have spent the day doing that task.... Probably just the huge sense of achievement
Nice bargain there, definitely earned a beer.
Love checking in to see your videos mate, so glad youre doing well!
Great video Max. Another person on RUclips called Joel bought a ramp too and he's got a full video on it. @My911 is his channel and in the other stuff on his playlists. Might be a good / interesting watch for you. 👍
Great video Max. Always look forward to your videos. Hope to see you get that operational soon. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Well done! A nice project!
Should have asked for help Max, I’d pop down to help you
Max it’s got to be time for a garden update surely! Any luck on growing grain again this year?
No garden at all this year!
ooh a 4 post .. almost luxurious Max
Short video but a cracking video to watch loved it x
Much as I love Series Landrovers, and I used to have them as daily drivers, I'm not sure that these days I'd enjoy driving one for 2 or 3 hours. Must be a sign of middle age....
Good adventure 👍
About 15 years ago I bought a 4 post lift for £25 at an auction. It seemed a good idea until i realised how much effort it takes to move it. I ended up leaving it there as i figured it was worth losing the £25 for it to no longer be my problem!
Timewaster. Don't you just love them?
@@bernardgarrett3897 Yeah, everyone loves a time waster, just about as much as they love being judged by Bernard Garrett in the comments section of a you tube video🤣 I explained the transport issue to the auctioneers before bidding and they gave me three options. They would arrange delivery for £200, I collect it myself within 14 days or they would just weigh it in for scrap as the site was being demolished anyway. I already paid them for it, the ramp wasn't worth paying £200 for delivery and they offered to dispose of it at no extra cost if i failed to arrange collection, most likely because they would have made twice what i paid for it again in scrap value.
Big job, just started.
Is that an actual Bentley sitting there beside the little Fiat ???
Yep! There were some very expensive cars I had to squeeze past to get the trailer in and out.
👍🏻🍻
I always love a Max upload, always interesting
Well Mr Ironthumper, it would seem,
after years of not needing soft, nancy
boy luxury Tools....oh wait !😀
A tough day on your own, cheers
Watching you shift that stuff reminded me of building a stonehenge replica for the BBC. Met a guy there called Jan Adkins who had written a book called "Moving Heavy Things". Kept meaning to buy the book, and it seems you can still get it for around a tenner. Thought it was something you might enjoy too, hence the overlong comment. 😂
If you put it in the magic brambles, will it breed parts?
Top stuff hope it works out
Great stuff Max keep the videos coming
Trailer needs painting to match kermit
Not seen Broadmayne in nearly three decades.. 😲
HELLO! You enjoy that beer max 💪
You need some tailgate chains on Kermit
Would of thought the man selling it would of gave u a lift lol
A bit more room to work would have been nice at least.
Put some love into that trailer paint it to match Kermit would look very smart
@AllSortsOfStuff58 Police in the U.K. good one!!! We don't have any.
More likely be vosa these days. It looks a solid piece of kit that trailer 👍👍
good vid thanks four the vid you do on channel
Good effort 👍🏻💪
