You made it to Mark and Grandad!!!! So many wholesome moments in one video. Mark asking for a photo of his mate with his old land rover to show his dad, to the pint with Mark and grandad, to you standing in the garage, just looking at Kermit with a big smile on your face. I've become more emotionally invested in this than any other build on RUclips and it was so great to see the enjoyment of everyone in this final build video. I'm really looking forward to the adventures of Kermit! Best wishes to yourself, Mark and Grandad.
Great project Max, I love my landies and it’s been much needed inspiration to get my V8 90 pushed on. Most of all I think we are all envious of the relationship you have with your grandad who’s clearly a fantastic bloke. Mine was of a very similar ilk, but I lost him when I was 15 (30 years ago) but wished he’d have been about a bit longer as I know we’d have been much the same. Enjoy 👍🏻
Terrific! In a normal car that would have been a boring drive, but in a Land Rover it was an adventure! Your video also just serves to prove how loved these vehicles are, like a faithful old family Labrador..
Brilliant job. So pleased it ended with a clean ticket too. Inspirational to everyone who loves land rovers. I watched your mig welding and learnt how to weld. My series 2 now has a new rear crossmember and repaired rear sections. Thank you for such a great story. Long live Kermit!
I can't believe it! Your grandad only lives a few miles from me! My little boy would love to meet you, if possible, when you're this way. We've been watching you together for years.
Max! Did you go through Wisbech on your way? You would have been more than welcome round my yard for a cuppa. Happy for you that Kermit is out in the wild now, congratulations!
Way to go, Max...such a great video series. I've watched most of these twice as I progress through my "Project Enfys"...a frame off on my 1983 Series III 88". Hope to see a video series of the "Max and Katie Greenlane Overland Adventure Featuring 'Kermit'" Keep up the great content! ~Pete (Columbia, South Carolina)
Hi Max I’ve got to say I have watched this kermt build now six times , I have to say when my off grid life in Portugal-gets me down with all its day to day problems # vehicles, you raise my game and give me the confidence to attack anything. Thanks max , grandad and Mark
Congratulations Max that is a real achievement bringing Kermit back to life whilst at the same time providing hours of entertainment and education for an awful lot of people.
So pleased for you Max. A credit to all your hard work. Can anyone remember where the gearbox blanket Max fitted came from? In my tdi Series 2 the gearbox is the loudest noise and I've rebuilt it twice!
Company called Noise Killer - it's sold for the defender so doesn't fit too snugly on the series box - not done any scientific testing to confirm it's efficacy but overall we were both pleasantly surprised by the sound levels. Unlike when I turned up at my mum's in the old landy and it took awhile before I could hear what people were saying to me!
@@maximusironthumper I know that feeling. Once a year I do a trip to Wales from London in mine. 6 hours each way and as much as I love my series 2 I'm very glad to get out of it at the end! Thanks very much Max (for the info and all the fantastic videos)
I was going to say it's remarkably quiet for a Tdi in a series, the high ratio transfer box was a great call. I'm a little jealous. I've not been able to drive for 6 months on Dr's orders..can't wait to get my Series 3 MOT'd...then I just need a destinatto go on an adventure... Here's to many happy trouble free miles in Kermit 👍👍
It's great to see this project complete! And I have to say, it's nice to see a proper Land Rover, driven where it's meant to be, rather than the luxury version, with leather seats, driven by rich wankers on the streets of Amsterdam. 😆
Congratulations, I'm not particularly a Land Rover fan, but I've been glued to each and every episode. The skill, craftsmanship, and problem solving have made for brilliant entertainment. Time to enjoy it now 👏
congrats Max - you got there and it’s the most original new build on the road. can’t wait until you’re side by side with an ineos grenadier turning down offers to swap. Would be nice to see a video of you taking her to a land rover club exhibition day. how about a new build project for a nice big storage shed for that parts library?
Congratulations Kermit, Max et al. have done you right. What an adventure, what a fun series. Thanks for sharing the build with us Max, reminds me a lot of my first rebuild of a 1967 Austin Healey Sprite, although yours is a much more extensive and complete job, fun stuff! Looking forward to further adventures, you've done a beautiful job, I see great fun in your future as you and Kermit head out to enjoy both on and off-road excursions.
Well done Grandad's gifted grandson! Gaia's speed Kermit! Happy birthday Grandad & nice to see Mark. A really in-depth & engaging series that made me smile every episode. Many thanks from Maine, USA.
What an amazing project!!! amazing build, and amazing to see how you overcame all the obstacles along the way. Just to hear you always so positive although It was not easy I'm sure - was truly inspiring to me. Beautifully filmed and edited - as well as informative and lots to be learned from for any Land rover enthusiasts. I'm sure the decision to get Grand dad along will be priceless to you one day. In short... thank you for the opportunity to join along with you- enjoy your "new" Land rover !❤
Congratulations on getting road worthy approval. What a tremendous satisfaction. It's a great testimony to your meticulous build to specifications. Thanks for bringing us on the journey
Ive never had any interest in cars, yet I was utterly glued to this entire series! So calming to watch you re-build this from scratch. Whats blown me away is how something in such a state of what looks like its way past its time to be in a scrap heap can be made into something so amazing!
Thanks for sharing your amazing rebuild journey with us, and to Grandad ,Mark and any other people that helped off camera. I've done quite a few of these type projects with a Toyota Hilux/rover v8 mini monster truck conversion, an old Daihatsu jeep, lots of tractors including building a pulling tractor and JCB excavators, so totally get the achievement feeling at the end. You refer to it's agricultural feeling I've always said I couldn't understand why anybody would drive something daily, that would be the equivalent to putting wheels a diesel engine and a nice armchair in my late grandads potting shed. Then touring the country with it, I've driven quieter sounding tractors that are faster than some Landrovers over large distances L.O.L. Congrats to Grandad on another birthday it's great to see him again. Take care everybody
It’s been great watching the progress and it’s even greater to see it back on the road. It has been heart warming to see your videos when your grandad was visiting but I you both visiting him with Kermit completed was lovely to see.
Brilliant work and lovely to see the smiles on everyone’s faces. I bet some lovely memories made with Grandad, who is, let’s be honest, the real star of the channel!
You've made that thing better than new. A well deserved "ending" for this project, may it bring you joy and trouble free ownership for many years and miles to come! It's been really fun and educational following this build, hope you find another project like this someday for us to join in on! :) Oh, and make sure that thing is insured to it's REAL value now. It's much more than just another Land Rover...
Congratulations mate, this project has kept me going through some hard times. I love your work, your passion, and am so happy you finished it. Shoutout to the legend that is Grandad.
Kinda sad but joyful about the end of this project. I kept up with this series over the last six months while recovering from a back injury. Last week, I was released from therapy what do you know Project Kermit has come to a close. Enjoy the ride! Cheers mate.
What a result for all your hard work. So much more than a Landrover restoration film! It's a story of the life of the vehicle and the good people who put life back into it. Epic journey with high levels of skill and attention to detail! I going to binge watch all again! Thanks for taking the time to film it. All the best to Mark and Grandad. 👍🙋♂️
What a fantastic project. I was gripped by it, anticipating for the next episode to arrive. The Cherry on the cake was you driving right by my front door on the A47. Welcome to the Fens 🚜
Lovely to see your project come full circle, and what a fitting and touching end to the series. Always a pleasure to see you with your Grandad, and thank you for including some of the footage taken during your Summer sessions together, my favorite episodes, I have to admit 👍.
This is one of the very few series ive ever watched, start to finish, and ive enjoyed every second of it Max. Done a brilliant job with that truck and its a credit to you. Well done
I hope those new landrover bits you collected are going to be properly stored in a bramble patch until required
Top comment.
Well, they are currently stored in my bramble patch, so they'll appreciate the change of scenery! ;)
Good on you Mark for giving away Kermit. I hope Max lets you drive the car at some point 😉@@spungletrumpet
Lol. Love this comment!
Keep them fresh!

Totaly agree with you.
Screaming "IT'S A LOT QUIETER THAN I REMEMBER IT";
Hearing is probably a lot quieter than back then.
I'm here for the Kermit Gearbox Rebuild!!
Me to, can't wait.
The sentimental value of the Land Rover with the connection to Mark and Grandad makes it even more special and more than 'just a car'
Well done! After a complete rebuild and a 400 mile shakedown, you had one spade connection slightly wrong! Bloody brilliant, well done again.
Great project Max, I love my landies and it’s been much needed inspiration to get my V8 90 pushed on. Most of all I think we are all envious of the relationship you have with your grandad who’s clearly a fantastic bloke. The way Mark asked for a picture of you both in front of Kermit was one of the highlights. Awesome... 👍
Love that Turbo whistle
This has been the most entertaining, heartwarming and enjoyable series. The joy you get from doing it is infectious.
Terrific! In a normal car that would have been a boring drive, but in a Land Rover it was an adventure! Your video also just serves to prove how loved these vehicles are, like a faithful old family Labrador..
Yep! Talking of adventures, the next one will be rebuilding a gearbox - been watching back through your videos again to gen up.
Brilliant job. So pleased it ended with a clean ticket too. Inspirational to everyone who loves land rovers. I watched your mig welding and learnt how to weld. My series 2 now has a new rear crossmember and repaired rear sections. Thank you for such a great story. Long live Kermit!

Well done matey.... lovely touch taking it to show your grandad.
Congratulations Max that is a real achievement bringing Kermit back to life whilst at the same time providing hours of entertainment and education for an awful lot of people.
Congratulations!!
So much fun! 🎉 cheers 🍻
What a wonderful end to this story. And so well documented
Great finish boys 👌👌👌
Great. Nice see Grandad plus Mark see Kermit all finished. Will Kermit get a new name as not green!
So pleased for you Max. A credit to all your hard work.

The adventure was also fantastic. What is the next ADVENTURE?

22:10 it's amazing to be reminded of the state that Kermit was in when you dragged her out of the bush! 😮
Superb result.......deservedly happy.
I like it very much. Clean looking cabin and well layed out
Congratulations, I'm not particularly a Land Rover fan, but I've been glued to each and every episode. The skill, craftsmanship, and problem solving have made for brilliant entertainment. Time to enjoy it now 👏

Nice one max thats going to work well thanks mark and grandad
Finally finished! WELL DONE! It's a lovely Land Rover. Looking forward to some Adventures in Kermit!
A project never truly ends, it just gets little bits added here and there... :D
Must be satisfying having a vehicle where you literally know how every bit was put together
When Grandad appeared I think I got something in my eye. Bit of dust or something, really made my eyes water.
What a result for all your hard work. So much more than a Landrover restoration film! It's a story of the life of the vehicle and the good people who put life back into it. That was a fun trip - with a little bit of drama too!
What a lovely joyous video, to see Mark and your Grandad admire the final result was a treat!
It turned out lovely
