    • @RaijinKaze
      @RaijinKaze 18 дней назад +1

      Not really. We do not know the long-term effect of a major swap to electric vehicles. At the moment charging infrastructure can barely keep up with the demand for them. In fact most places with chargers in busy cities have queues that force you to potentially wait hours to fill the EV up to 80% charge. People opt to charge at home with their AC wall mounted chargers for most of their EV experience. This would increase the average consumption of electricity by a fairly large margin if the majority of road users do this. So the question would be if local powergrids can handle the extra strain. Electricity prices in some places are not exactly cheap. Also, the average driver would not have the mentality to maintain a disciplined approach to charging, as opposed to the one-and-done ICE method of filling up the tank in less than 10 minutes. All things equal the future seems to be going towards a more hybrid-orientated culture with bio fuels powering the combustion engines which will in turn charge up battery units for power distribution to the wheels. (Think like how F1 cars work)

      @@RaijinKaze Uhm, that’s a big negative! Not going to happen the way you think. China is going all in on pure EVs right now - easily beyond 50% sales this year. Plus, power grid anxiety is overblown since most will be charging at home using OFF-Peak charging between the local hours of 8pm to 6am, so the grid will Not be stressed. In addition, new solar and battery peaker plants are coming online daily. The only reason people are buying hybrids is due to a lack of charging infrastructure away from home causing “range anxiety” (by more than about 200 miles). This makes them feel good (about helping the environment) without actually doing much to save money and help reduce pollutants.
      Once pure EVs cross the price parity threshold to ice vehicles and become substantially cheaper to initially buy, most households (those that actually own their homes) will buy a second car to be pure EV; only for local driving, if nothing else. They will then realize (once EV charging infrastructure catches up) that the range anxiety they initially felt was way overblown. This doesn’t even factor into the equation continual massive advances in battery tech that reduces charging times and advances in efficiency.
      Then they will also reap the incredible benefits of much lower cost of ownership over time. It is enevitable - ice cars will be the dinosaurs of the 2030’s - big, fat heavy, inefficient, unaerodynamic SUVs polluting the atmosphere - Dinosaurs! I for one will never buy another ice vehicle again.
      Finally and Admittedly, all of this will happen in advanced nations first, but because of China and Europe’s EV adoption alone, the rest of the world is going to have to follow their lead, or they won’t be able to reap the cost savings and be left behind in environmental and health benefits.

    Tesla could learn a lot from BYD and how they intend to fulfill a wide variety of customer segments that offer solutions to a broader spectrum. Tesla relying on 3/Y so heavily will reach a plateau as the market expects more. Jim Farley of Ford who is a fan of Elton Musk also comments, Tesla does not understand the larger automotive business. Elon once had ambitions of 20 million Teslas sold annually by 2030. He found the going too hard so he pivots to other future technologies that will have less competition. Likely smart, but its car sales that fund those not yet commercialized opportunities. Hope he's right.

    • @Fldllse
      @Fldllse 18 дней назад

      Different company suits different strategy. For Tesla/Apple they'd better go for that minimal product line + fan boy cultivating route, because the way they positioned themselves to stand out against competitors isn't their tech (pretty average in China) but their "branding". So Elon tweeting more flaring comments on Tweeter and acting more trendy and celebrity-ish will help their sale way more easily than spending time and money developing new car models, especially when Tesla is trying to cut cost and laying off ppl all over the place.

    • @sunrisejak2709
      @sunrisejak2709 18 дней назад

      @@FldllseApple has more revenue streams aside from phones. Tesla gets 85% of revenue from car sales and the majority of that from 3/Y. The 3/Y revenue/profit is in decline. Once Tesla delves into red ink (they are getting closer) the money machine funding FSD, AI, Optimum, Dojo. Etc etc will dry up and they will start to eat up cash reserves. This is why Wall St is losing confidence with Tesla. Elon pivoting away from being a car company (by his own public admission). Tesla needs a broader affordable car portfolio to keep the money rolling-in to fund development. 100K cybertrucks sold at a loss is not it. Nor is a 250k Roadster that will sell in small numbers. Just look at BYDs portfolio and rising position. The CEO of BYD is impressive. Elton? Bored with cars so he chases his grand visions (cool) but not at the expense of ignoring the current fundamental business and money source.

    • @Fldllse
      @Fldllse 18 дней назад

      @@andrewsaint6581 48V lol. BYD's hybrid system called DM3.0 that launched 4 years ago already carries high voltage BSG motor with a voltage range between 360v and 518v, with at least 60Nm. And I'm not even bring up how the complexity of BYD's high voltage BSG motors under a hybrid system over your 48v single mode electric motor, stuff like active RPM control, HEV series & parallel modes, pure electric mode etc. All these never gets reported by any of your sweet and "professional" western media.
      Besides, None of your statement contradicts with my statement, because Tesla's "tech" is simply not on par in the Chinese market. Rest of the world maybe.

    Fifth version of the Seal...
    The original Seal (BEV sedan) didn't sell well in China despite BYD's expectation and efforts. Therefore BYD is renaming everything to Seals.
    For example, Seal U is Song Plus in Chinese. Song (a dynasty in China) Plus (compact SUV, BEV and PHEV) was transfered to the then newly-formed Oceanic linage in 2021 as the first vehicle (Dolphin came months later).

Finally, 5. Wait for the money to roll in.

    Perhaps BYD’s reasoning for having so many different vehicles named “Seal” is that the dumb media outlets will lump them all together when reporting sales of the “Seal.” If their goal is to beat Tesla’s Model Y (currently the best selling car in the world), they probably figure they can achieve that sooner if so many of their cars share the same name. Also helps with branding and name recognition-even if potential customers find themselves totally confused when actually trying to shop for one! 😂

    • @Kiss_MyAss
      @Kiss_MyAss 17 дней назад

      I was thinking along that line too! With so many models under Seal, they can lump all the sales under Seal and have bragging rights! But they are good, value-for-money quality EVs regardless, and deserve good sales, no matter what their marketing department is thinking of!😂

      BYD posted 37.5% NEV market share in China last month. Second place was Geely at 7.6 and Tesla dropped to 5th.
      For the overall car market, they were also first with 16.6%, while second place was FAW-VW with 7.8%. And they are production-constrained on most models, despite building new factories and increasing hiring.
      Sales are not an issue for BYD. And with a 28.1% gross margin last quarter, they are reducing costs at a faster rate than prices.
      Being able to offer customers choice and constantly improving product is an advantage. Although I guess some people like Trabant-style, limited choice in their protected markets.

      What ignorance! Have you seen BYD's Yangwang U8 and U9? They are way different and beyond any Tesla models! But of course, they are also in a different price range, hence, the Seal, being simpler and cheaper, to compete in the Tesla Model 3 category. That's just simple marketing!

    This is the problem with Chinese manufacturers. Rather than making a few high quality products, they rush products out of the door that are inadequately tested. This results in the need to constantly put out modified product models. We know from experience, that the quality is often questionable. It's often more flash for your buck, rather than bang for your buck.

      Tesla uses Byd blade battery because it's the safest one around. So no worries about spontaneous combustion. As quality and reliability, most of their models have 5 star safety rating from Euro NCAP. So again no worries there.Spy on? Nothing really worth their time to do that either. As for admirers there are plenty here in Asean. They are top dog in ev sales by a wide margin. Their assembly plant here in Thailand should be ready in a couple of months time, to service the RHD market. That leaves dealers network and insurance which are local issues. Leave them to the local distributor to deal with.
      So there you go. They have only just started.

      LOL - we have had BEVs in Australia since 2013, over 200,000 on the road as of 2023, how many BEVs have spontaneously combusted in those 11 years? answer ....zero.
      In fact there have only been 6 EV battery related fires in 11 years, 4 of those in 2022-2023, 1 arson, 1 a detached battery left in the rain and, 2 impact damage - that's 10 fires per million cars per year, (only if you include the arson and the detached battery otherwise it's only 5).
      In 2022-2023 there were 44,091 ICE car fires for 21.7million cars - that's 1,035 per million cars per year.
