XP-Pen has always been a favored brand of mine. As usual, I really appreciate your honest reviews. People in my art groups are constantly asking about pen and graphic tablets, and I constantly refer them to your videos. Keep up the good work!
I started using my older screen-display as a screenless tablet and noticed that it's alot more comfortable to draw on this way. So I was looking for reviews on YT for pen-tablets and was a bit dissapointed that you didn't have a video on the Deco L/LW, so I bought the LW after a week. Still can't believe that you uploaded this an hour after mine arrived. And after testing it for myself for a few hours I can say that drawing on it feels great and since it's your only negative I have to point out that I actually don't notice as much wobble with the pen as you do. I also tried it on my Tab S6 Lite and it works great. You have to connect it via cable (bluetooth doesn't work even tho you can pair it). Shortcut-buttons also work and are customizable on Artflow and CSP and probably on other apps that support keyboard-shortcut settings in general (not sure on that tho).
does your xp-pen have the issue of creating a line even though the pen nib isnt touching the pentab surface? how about the button on the pen? is it working? i have a xp-pen pentab with those issues and i'm thinking about finding a replacement
@@jang1809 So far everything is working fine. Hard to tell after just a day. But I was using the xp-pen Artist 22e pro before that for about 2 years and had no such problems with both pens they send me. I dunno if you've tried anything to fix it, but if nothing works I think the Deco L/LW could be a nice replacement, especially in that pricerange.
I gifted my Wacom cintiq 16 to my little sister and now i use XP Pen Deco Pro MW and oh my... its so comfy to use less neck and back pain and easier on wrists.
Is there a arrow cursor in your tab s6 lite when you use the xppen? I use huion on my samsung phone and old samsung tablet, there is a noticeable transparent circle cursor but it's so tiny, when i draw i can't see where i click, i test it on my brother's phone (xiaomi phone) and there is black arrow cursor, it's much much better, is there is a settings for this?
@@whwjsjhsj Not exactly sure what you mean, but if you are talking about Clip Studio Paint, there is an option to change your cursor when you go to your preferences -> cursor. From there you can set your prefered cursor for each brush-type.
I got my Deco LW two weeks ago and I'm super happy with it. The silky surface and the way the pen glides over it feels great. And the excellent pressure sensitivity registering even the slightest touch is fantastic. The slight wobble when drawing super slow straight lines isn't an issue for me as I mainly use the tablet for retouching photos. Thanks for the short preview of the tablet.
I recently got a Deco L and im a little confused because the battery of my tablet is low but it won't charge no matter what i hook it up to. I'm not sure if u even have to charge the deco LW but i was wondering if you do, how do u go about it?
@@brianna949 Hi. As far as I know, the Deco L is the non-wireless version. So it works only plugged in. You cannot charge it and use it wirelessly. Only the LW version is wireless with a battery. The Deco L you have to use while it is plugged into the computer.
Hello, I am interested in this model but when I heard in the video about some "wobble" I started to wonder what actually that is... Can please explain to me if you have experienced such wobble in your time of use? Have you actually felt such a thing or just the guy in the video?
I just got mine!! I ordered mine a week or two ago , mostly because they had it in pink and im crazy for anything that matches my setup. I missed clip studio paint though, after 3 years since switching to an ipad and procreate. I have to say this is a really nice tablet, comparing to the wacom intuos i had even longer ago. But compared to the ipad, there are some things i find myself struggling with. I found that my matte screen protector on my ipad is actually more matte than the surface of the xp-pen, and this feel is more smooth than i prefer, but i suppose it can take some time to get used to. And i dont know if its just me, but the pen feels much lighter and shorter than im used to, and i started to cramp in my hands after an hour of drawing, but again it might be something i need to get used to. The actual pen performance is so good though and i really love this tablet. Id say overall the only con i have with this purchase is the FEEL of the pen and surface. Also, it was really funny to see this on my feed today, as a few weeks ago i was goin crazy thinking "How can i buy a new tablet without Brad's review of it first?!" But it turned out alright!
What wacom intuos you use? I'm searching a new pentab that have the same surface as my old intuos cth480, i bought huion but the surface feels so different, how's yours? Do ur xppen have same surface as your wacom intuos?
@@whwjsjhsj The wacom i had was the intuos cth490! Its been a long time since i used it so i cant make the most direct comparison, but in my opinion the wacom had a nicer textured feel while the xp-pen is a smoother texture so far. However, with my wacom i scratched up the surface of the tablet pretty bad with the pen nib which might have caused more texture. I don't think the texture of the xp pen is worse but it does feel smoother than I'm used to.
For people who is wondering, If your device has bluetooth module built-in you don't need that dongle/adaptor, that adaptor is useful for desktop PC without Bluetooth since most laptop/tablet has Bluetooth module built in. That dongle is just a bonus.

This Bluetooth issue needs to be addressed. They do have an official logo and are mentioning 5.0 compatibility on spec sheet, but you said it needs dongle. It should be backwards compatible unless it's BT 5.0 only, is this the issue? Thanks for the review
Hi, i have this tablet actually. Im not using the dongle. I just have it connected via the computer's bluetooth and thats it. You have to charge it eventually with the included wire, but as far as i know the included adapters and dongle isnt required to be plugged in
@@brendaschustrin6449 Thanks Branda, that's exactly how it's supposed to work, regardless of Bluetooth version. That said - Mac Mini has BT 5.0 on the specs list :)
Something that always bothers me with reviews is that i can never tell if people are using stabilizer (something like Lazynezumi) or if the tablets themselves lag. I'm someone who likes to draw without stabilizer and no delay whatsoever so I wish more people would talk about that. Like when he starts drawing here there is an obvious delay, but is it from the tablet or Photoshop? Ughh.
I think any device using Bluetooth instead of direct wired connection (USB) will suffer from more lag due to bluetooth protocol overhead and potential interference from other wireless devices. So, if lag is a concern, try wired connection. Also make sure there aren't other software or updates running in the background that can slow the response time.
From the video, it's obvious that the lag is awful. This guy is putting a really positive spin on it "I have to use it for more hours to get used to it". I have an XP-PEN StarG640, (mini-usb connection) and the lag is about the same and I find it completely unusable for my application (teaching). I used to have a Microsoft Surface 2 and there was no lag; it was instant. Manufacturers really should publish lag time as a basic specification, and any review has got to test the lag as a bare minimum.
Ok I have a question: What is the pro here compare to the much cheaper (actually less than half the price in my region) Deco Fun L.. Wireless is a nice gimick but I plan to work on a desktop so not big of a deal to me; buttons.. well I have a keyboard so unless it would have a poti it is not really an asset.. The price does not bother me, but what do I get for an extra 50 bucks here? And I feel the comparison between the wacom pen and this one was to short - is there really a noticeable difference? I have a burning question, I got a deco Pro off amazon and tried it, and it felt.... A bit oof Too much friction actually. Might be rare to hear that but I've gotten used to using an s pen with a hard plastic nib on a smooth touchscreen surface. And it feels like the pen squeaks on the surface its like on the edge of squeaking like chalk on a chalkboard Is the deco LW any different? Give or take this model is 2 years newer than the deco Pro and I was pretty nonplussed by the wierd pen problems (I can't seem to single click, no matter how fast I tap the surface of the tablet with the pen I can't open any menus without it closing itself right after)
Hi, I've been considering to buy one of this, but I still wonder about the bluetooth thing, is that device “discoverable” from the ordinary bluetooth without the dongle?
do you think that brands like xp-pen and huion will render wacom useless?, do artists really need to get a wacom in their career to feel the top of the line? or is it even noticeable anymore?
I think the wacom experience is the standard that other companies are attempting to reach, but from what I know (I've never had experience with anything other than one xp pen tablet), I think the gap is closing a lot and I don't think having something for the brand name has ever been worth it tbh
@@theperiidot as someone who uses a Cintiq 24 Pro daily for work, the feeling is far better than on even newer XP pen tablets. That being said, they are pretty good for most kind of digital art, a good artist can do anything on one as long as they have the skill. It's just about the feeling and specs in the end of the day
Wacom is really good in many aspects, but I don't think the cost of products as intuos pro are justified. Recently I bought an intuos pro and it made my work easy, but sometimes the pressure doesn't go well, few instant but it happens, or suddenly it doesn't work and after unplugged it works again, and I have just a few days with this tablet. haha And also there is the problem with the nibs, and I already bought some replacements. So I don't think it worth the price. But also I couldn't find a better option, so... it's a good tablet, the quality in my lines looks amazing, but I hoped for a better experience. 😕
@@pinkstarknight there is also different needs. For example I use my phone for digital art and Wacom doesn't have the best support for it. I was gifted with the cheapest intous and for months I haven't used it because of the small drawing area for the phones.. it's uncomfortable. Recently bought the XP pen Deco mini7 and instantly so much more space. Different feel and quality but much better at comfortability
@@hihellothere9569 Exactly, totally agree. I bought the previous xp pen deco and sadly I didn't realize it was time to change the nib until it had already been super scratched :( So because of that ive been looking into this one to see if it would be right for me! Thank you for your review Brad!
Basically it uses the same EMR technology with - Staedtler Noris Digital stylus (both normal and jumbo versions) - Wacom One pen - any Samsung S Pen So the drawing experience would be more or less similar with those
I know this video is a year old, but putting the table on the laptop keyboard doesn't press any keys? Just wondering as I usually use my tablet with a desktop and was thinking of wanting to be more mobile.
Hi. I’m new to this technology and I have a question you’ve probably answered a hundred times already (apologies in advance!) when using these screenless tablets, how do you know where your pen is on the screen? Do you get a mouse like icon on-screen before you start a line or is it guess work/training your eye? Thx and great videos!
i'm only just getting into drawing with a tablet again and looking to buy this product. From what i remember if the pen is close to the surface of the tablet you will see the arrow cursor wherever you hover the pen on the tablet without actually touching it. This was years ago though lol not sure if it has changed since then.
So I ordered the XP pen 12 pro on Tuesday, and my mom doesn't trust that the company is from China and that is where the manufacturing is too And now I'm worried that it'll take forever to get here, or won't come at all. I want to know what other people's experiences with shipping from xp pen to America is like and if there have been any issues.
Hi Brad, Love your reviews great job btw Is there any review comming about Asus z13 flow, would love your review about it, as I was looking at it to buy as my main drawing and sculpting device on the go
How can you learn to use pen tablets? I have one long time ago, but I cannot use at all, because I am looking elswhere *monitor/ , not the pencil itself. I tried to use as mouse, but still cannot draw with. Is there any trick or technique to learn to use it?
Yes! At first it feels unnatural, but keep using it! Use it as your only mouse from now on, and also do some drawing exercises everyday for 20 minutes, fill a whole page with small uniform circles, draw squares and fill those with lines that stay inside the square. Practice the amount of pressure you use by alternating between thick and thin lines and circles, stuff like that :) Hope it helps! Just keep going at it and you will get more control!
My addition to other comment is to draw the initial sketch traditionally at first, then try "tracing" it digitally to have some sort of guideline when practicing, and then start drawing from scratch on digital once you feel confident. It takes a while to get used to it, some ppl take 2-3 weeks but I personally took 1 month-ish myself to fully adapt to the hand eye coordination. Just dont rush it and take it slowly, its all worth it in the end!
@@Kogami the main problem is I cannat draw vertical. Horizontal no problem. I can draw line horizontal. But when I want to draw vertical line it is not straight. So I cannot draw anything. I know, draw from shoulder not wrist, but on that pen tablet it is just a mess. My patrner tried too, and same issue. Not the pen tablet issue, because I have 2 different pen tablets, and both I cannat draw vertical lines.
Thanks for the video. A question: While writing, can I see on board what I write OR do I need to keep looking on my laptop screen. I am actually looking for some device which I can use to write and save my study notes, like normal pen and paper.
All the videos I'm finding of artists and people recommending these kinds of drawing tablets seem to say the same thing, they'd have to get used to it, practice for days or months to build hand eye coordination, etc., and yet they all still recommend the beginner artist start here for entry level. No one I've seen can actually put anything worth a damn together. It almost seems like some Karate Kid-esque advise, learn to draw blind, feel the line young grasshopper, and meanwhile the "masters" don't handicap themselves like this..
Your laptop there looks super slow. Perhaps that's what is causing the wavy lines? I see you're running a lot in taskbar which makes me think are you even using High performance mode or optimizing Windows for performance?
I can confirm - cpu speed has nothing to do with line wave. You can get smooth lines from a pen tablet on a potato. Also, this looks like last year's Dell XPS 15 - not a slow laptop by any means.
if your device has bluetooth module built-in you don't need that adaptor, that adaptor is useful for desktop PC without Bluetooth since most laptop/tablet has Bluetooth built in

I have a burning question, I got a deco Pro off amazon and tried it, and it felt.... A bit oof
Too much friction actually. Might be rare to hear that but I've gotten used to using an s pen with a hard plastic nib on a smooth touchscreen surface.
And it feels like the pen squeaks on the surface its like on the edge of squeaking like chalk on a chalkboard
Is the deco LW any different? Give or take this model is 2 years newer than the deco Pro and I was pretty nonplussed by the wierd pen problems (I can't seem to single click, no matter how fast I tap the surface of the tablet with the pen I can't open any menus without it closing itself right after)
I hope that companies will start producing small pocket graphic tablets for use with a smartphone - with a decent active field, not 5 to 5 centimeters
Yeah, it called Palm Pilot. The pro version is the one to get ;-)
2 olddddd
Bluetooth drawing tablets are a surprisingly rare breed. Not having any cumbersome cable is a real treat
Hi, I've been considering to buy one of this, but I still wonder about the bluetooth thing, is that device “discoverable” from the ordinary bluetooth without the dongle?
Are you able to use this tablet on google slides? Also, can you use it on zoom? Thanks
Could you please update your website's "The Best Wacom Cintiq Alternatives" page?
u can directly connect via bluetooth dont need to used the wireless receiver if the connected device has built in bluetooth
when is the galaxy tab 8 ultra review coming?
do you think that brands like xp-pen and huion will render wacom useless?, do artists really need to get a wacom in their career to feel the top of the line? or is it even noticeable anymore?
I'm working in my first picture book and I was working with an intuos drawing tablet, but I thought it was time for an upgrade for my tablet, I thought the intuos pro was the next step, and its pretty good for drawing, except for the things I mentioned in my previous comment.
It's great you found an excellent option for you. Probably in my case, I was afraid left my confort zone with wacom. 😅
Man that means 0,1,2,3 and the 3s works for going down or up! Make your canvas biger or smaller. Thats why they are pointing in diferent direction! Very clever desing! Come Brad use your drawing super powers!
Hi mr brad. I have a huge problem. I’m getting my first drawing tablet and I’m not shore which on to get. Should I get the XP pen deco LW or the HUION hs611? Which one do you prefer?
Same, what do you end up to buy?
@@Amin-xj9yh I ended up buying the Huion hs611 and it is amazing
Are you tested it with android, is it good too, can you use all active area on it without glitches?
@@Amin-xj9yh I’m sorry I took so long to respond. It works amazing. Everything works and it’s super responsive! But if you like to move on the go the deco LW is wireless but there’s only one chord on my drawing tablet and it is amazing. The top two buttons on the pen have a little lag to them but the pen is very good and does not feel cheep!
Thank you for the video, what computer were you using the tablet with?
Can you use that tablet in portrait mode? I want to use it with MS Office and writing on PDF files
The dots on the keys are called "braille", it's a system of reading by touch used by blind. In case that we are focusing on the monitor, we don't have to look at our pads and look for a key.
Can’t wait for the S8 Ultra review with the updated S Pen tech.
guys just a question why cant i find huion sketch? it comes up waith a fake?? plz help me
Hey Brad, love you reviews man!
Btw on your website in your list of iPad and Adroid devices I couldn't avoid but to notice that you listed iPad air 5th generation ( did you meant 4th gen?)
Hi Brad, me again... I am planning to buy my first Pen Tablet. Could you please let me know which one you recommend? Deco Pro MW or the new Deco LW or any remendation around this price range?
How you you replace the mouse scroll wheel zooming in 3d apps like 3ds max with this kind of tablet and pen?
This does have a direct Bluetooth... We have to press the top button till the blue light flashes and take to paring mode.
i am doubting about getting xp pen deco L(without bluetooth) or huion rtp-700, what is your opinion?
What would you suggest for a student like me with MacBook air m1?
Deco 01 V2
I bought the previous xp pen deco and sadly I didn't realize it was time to change the nib until it had already been super scratched :( So because of that ive been looking into this one to see if it would be right for me! Thank you for your review Brad!
Excellent video like always 😸💕💕
Brad,a question,i can buy an ipad 9 or an ipad pro 2017 10.5,what ipad would yo recommend me?
hey brad, please help me out. Which one should i buy for note taking? huion rtm 500 or xp pen star 03?
Do they sell for left hand users?
Hey Brad, waiting on your s8 ultra drawing review man.. Keep up..
i really like this one , i am getting one soon .
Waiting for your tab S8 review !
Bro do you recommend using 10moons g10 tablet?
Hello Bread,
Could you make a video of the LAMY AL-star EMR pen?
Basically it uses the same EMR technology with
- Staedtler Noris Digital stylus (both normal and jumbo versions)
- Wacom One pen
- any Samsung S Pen
So the drawing experience would be more or less similar with those
this one or huion hs611/ Xp pen deco 01v2?
It's pretty much the same quality but personally im a fan of huion
Waiting for a review for the new note!
Brad, Samsung just released their new Tab 8. And yours is the review I'm waiting for. ✋ As always!
too bad it does not work with fireTV apps. I want to draw while sitting on the couch using a big screen TV.
I know this video is a year old, but putting the table on the laptop keyboard doesn't press any keys? Just wondering as I usually use my tablet with a desktop and was thinking of wanting to be more mobile.
should i purchase xppen deco 01 v2 or xppen deco L genuienly suggest me
@@MAGODEOZOO great, that makes things a lot easier then!
So I ordered the XP pen 12 pro on Tuesday, and my mom doesn't trust that the company is from China and that is where the manufacturing is too
And now I'm worried that it'll take forever to get here, or won't come at all.
I want to know what other people's experiences with shipping from xp pen to America is like and if there have been any issues.
Do you need that wireless receiver?
Late but, no, at least I didn't when I used it with my MacBook. I guess it's for devices without bluetooth?
Hi Brad long time lurker here. When could we expect a Samsung Tab S8 Ultra review from you if at all?
Hi Brad, Love your reviews great job btw Is there any review comming about Asus z13 flow, would love your review about it, as I was looking at it to buy as my main drawing and sculpting device on the go
No affiliate link?
I’m thinking about buying the XPPen Deco L, does anyone know if it works with photopea ? I’m too poor to afford photoshop 😅
Tsss. Hey, guys. Huion hs64 or XPPen Deco mini 7?
superb
Brad, you should try Veikk 2200 pro, man
is it bad?
what laptop is that?
I just ordered xp pen deco 01 V2 last month's
how does it work i was thinking of getting it
@@sapphiregamer8166 works good and fine
Does the tablet also work with an iPhone 🤔??
nice 👍
For studying and note taking, I'd go with a tablet, iPad or android, it works by itself, unlike this pen tablet which needs another device
Waiting for tab s8 ultra review
thanks
All the videos I'm finding of artists and people recommending these kinds of drawing tablets seem to say the same thing, they'd have to get used to it, practice for days or months to build hand eye coordination, etc., and yet they all still recommend the beginner artist start here for entry level. No one I've seen can actually put anything worth a damn together. It almost seems like some Karate Kid-esque advise, learn to draw blind, feel the line young grasshopper, and meanwhile the "masters" don't handicap themselves like this..
Can’t you connect via Bluetooth without the dongle???
STOP using tablets on top of your laptop they might have magnets that interfere with drawing performance PROB WHY THE WAVE UR GETTING FFS
Nice how much.
Also, this looks like last year's Dell XPS 15 - not a slow laptop by any means.
you should do a review of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 that just released
What laptop is Brad using?
Figured it out. Several videos ago he identified Dell XPS15, same laptop as this video.
lol the second time you had to re-record a xp pen product
Yeah, I'm just bad with cameras 🤣
ugh having to have a bluetooth dongle in my computer port for me is a no no.. I thought it really just worked with bluetooth.
Why does it matter, still no cables
if your device has bluetooth module built-in you don't need that adaptor, that adaptor is useful for desktop PC without Bluetooth since most laptop/tablet has Bluetooth built in

Hey Brad, review 'reMarkable'
, i think thats wut its called

Hah braille on a drawing tablet would be pretty ironic.
Oh my God
