Thanks for the vid. Just replaced mine on an 08 F-150 STX - same setup used this as a guide, spot on. Also some additional info for any one interested... I had a rough idle, but no problems accelerating or cruising on the highway. Codes were P0402 and P0106. Originally I was going to take apart the throttle body to clean it and inspect for any build-up instead of shelling out the money for a new EGR unit. Decided against it due to time constraints. Amazon has it for about $100 (Standard Motor Products EGV1136 EGR Valve) vs autozone almost double the price. Replacing the whole unit worked in my case, idling is back to normal. Like the video says all you need is: 8MM socket - for the fluid bracket to free up room. 3 bolts, top facing, super easy. 10MM socket - for the EGR unit. 2 bolts with extensions and a pipe for leverage worked. 1-1/16 open wrench OR Crescent Wrench - for the metal pipe going into the lower part of the unit. I was able to pop it with a crescent wrench but was on top of the engine with all my weight on it. Balled up a towel and put it on the end of the wrench handle t save your hands. You can take the two 8MM bracket bolts off too which will pop out the EGR port(?), it's basically a metal tube that points down into the intake/throttle body. Mine wasn't clogged but definitely had some carbon build up. Although careful as to not warp the bracket from all the torque needed to crank off that 1-1/16 metal exhaust like I did. Warped so much the two 8mm bracket bolts don't line back up >:/ could only get one bolt on for the time being - holds steady though.
While you were in there did you check the EGR port to see if it was plugged? I am hoping that the part that the EGR controller bolts to comes out for cleaning!!!! I have a 2007...but this is the FIRST video that I have found on the newer one-piece EGR controller! Thanks!
No I didn't, I just removed, and replaced. The light eventually came back on, but I honestly haven't tried diagnosing it. I well eventually removed part, and inspect further. 👍
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Canaan Maison thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Editing would have been nice. Skip the extraneous dialogue next time and cut out the in between stuff. Other than that, glad you took the time to make a video.
nice man just in time. been trying to find videos for days on this. the nut on my exhaust valve is so stuck. i sprayed wd40 and let it get hot from my engine, and it wont move. I tried using a crecent wrench like you but no matter how tight i make it, it strips before it comes off. I used a pipe on the wrench for leverage. It also bends the egr and throttle body from all the torque. any ideas?
My bad, I believe you're talking about the nut that takes the 1 and 1/16 wrench. Well use that spray "nut buster" and let sit for a few minutes, then use a large and heavy pipe wrench considering the nut is stripped. It should work
Christ you did a lot of unnecessary talking, just walk us through the job. I'm almost 5 minutes in and you're still hardly doing anything besides talking and talking about your tools. Can we talk about something like replacing the egr valve?

Thank you for your feedback. And glad the video helped. 👍
Super helpful comment.

@Canaan Maison It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass !
@Warren Harley Happy to help :D
Fine job
I appreciate it

Thank you for watching.
Its easier to remove the bolts off the plastic housing from the throttle body!
what does that mean ? Or what would that do ? Thanks
Thank you sir! Just replaced mine and this video was very helpful.
That's good to hear. Thanks for watching.
Did you have any ticking going on before replacing?
No ticking
Did you blue light go off after replacing this ? I have same problem
My service engine light stayed on.
Hello there.
Have you find the problem yet?

Impact wrench if you have access to one.
If you have a compressor you can rent an impact, or take it to a hole in the wall shop and have them loosen the bolt for a few bucks.
My bad, I believe you're talking about the nut that takes the 1 and 1/16 wrench.

Did you fix the egr! Was it giving you a p0446 code? I'm having the same problem
@@gime8148 the initial issue was fixed, but now I have a P406 code.
Great video but bro you literally made an extremely loud mechanic ASMR
Will it be in the same place as the '09?
Not too sure. But generally in same area.
09 is different body style, but should be in same area.
Ok...thx!!!
Same as my 2010
Talk too much get to the point

LOL. Thank you for watching. I do love feed-back because it let's me know what I can do better next time. 🙂
