  • Days after 19 children and two teachers were killed in Uvalde, Texas, GOP leaders at the NRA convention rejected efforts to overhaul gun laws.
RELATED: NRA convention in Houston, Texas begins, prompts rallies outside • NRA convention in Hous...
The nation’s largest gun-rights group had seemed on its last legs. Leaders of the National Rifle Association were accused of using its funds to pay for car services, private jets to the Caribbean and other personal travel. The New York attorney general filed suit to shut it down.
The organization filed bankruptcy. One gun control group said it had become a "shell of the juggernaut that once held dangerous sway." Another proclaimed last year that the NRA was “broken,” its leaders “on borrowed time.”
But this week, even as a gunman mowed down 19 fourth graders and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, the NRA is drawing A-list politicians to its annual convention 300 miles away in Houston. Former President Donald Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. Greg Abbott had been scheduled to speak Friday at a leadership forum set to kick off the gathering, according to the NRA web site.

      @brandonf24 2 года назад

In my best Sam Kinison voice: yeah because a drunk driver hops into the car going, "By golly, I hope I plow into a family of six tonight!" This is yet another fkn dumb, false equivalency argument...heard them all...rocks, knives, cars, planes, etc. A car fair doesn't benefit from fear-driven increases in sales with each tragedy. Nor are cars supposedly an instrument to hunt, feed, and protect a family, or mobilize to fend off the threat of a hypothetical tyrannical government. The latter of which I can't reconcile when you're supportive of increased military spending, a strongman executive and demagogue that purposefully debases public institutions, exploits working class anxieties with the "other", and wholly undermines a political system and the public trust in its electoral process while vilifying political opponents...but I'll leave that 🦇💩 powder keg for another time.
I will grant you the depravity of human beings to find interesting ways to kill others, but firearms make it easy and any know-nothing or layman would know how they revolutionized warfare from Pavia and Granada to the Somme and Stalingrad. Some nut will have a harder time knifing 70 or more people in a fkn theater for instance. Moreover, I bet that car fair doesn't have the assets or political influence as a lobbying force in legislative chambers nationwide. Cars are also regulated in everything from safety belts, collision tests, airbags, automatic sensor-braking mechanisms, in addition to speed limits and traffic laws, driver's licenses, tests, registration renewals, and mandatory liability insurance coverage in various places. 💩, you can't even drive with a taillight out without getting pulled over. Wonder what things would look like if we did that for firearms. Additionally, firearm deaths have surpassed motor vehicle deaths...but that doesn't fkn matter. None of this does, which is why nothing will ever change. So with my own iteration of that Carlin-like disillusionment, I'll just sit back and watch it 🔥 and hope that it doesn't include my 9 and 5 year old boys. They've had enough to contend with...they seemingly lost your support after birth. Their young family struggled with the cost of neonatal care, meager welfare support, loss of free school lunches, cut educational grants, right-to-work pink slips, reduced unemployment benefits, loss of housing subsidies, and more.
As for the school, I guess God wasn't in the classroom in a different sense, huh? Just like he wasn't in the grocery store, mall, movie theater, college campus, and yes, place of worship. Now either he wasn't there to begin with, we are abandoned, or there's a message being sent. Even if God were to appeal to your better angels, you would not act. You'd rather your underpaid, overworked, disposable, and taken for granted babysitter of a teacher become a security guard so you may have the pleasure of playing with each of your seven guns while tragedy becomes an American pastime...fk baseball...and the flag is regularly at half-staff. See you all at the next one! Hope they have hotdogs and prayers to distract from addressing the problem.

So we have new food recalls today. And I have to ask... what is the purpose of the FDA, USDA, and all the alphabet agencies, if our food production is resulting in poop contamination of our food. They can label the problem in so many different names but hygene has not been present under this administration in our food production factories. It's bad when I had enough .
It bad when I want to defund the education department, scrap it, and start over. For years we have been taxed to the gills , to educate and keep our children safe. And time and again, new plans are set and we are taxed more. For what? Seniors not knowing how to read and write? Incidents like uvalde happening time and again? Our schools failed to keep our children whole, educated and safe. Teachers are not allowed to defend themselves.
But let's be honest. We have waste and occupied seats... twirling their thumbs... while ignoring their phones ...in government . This is at every agency. Employees with god complexes. Public buildings becoming fortresses. And we are now the enemy if we don’t conform to their ideology.
I am even for defunding the federal reserve by defunding the IRS.
I'm becoming a radical rebel. A liberal of sorts. Taking the Lewinsky plan and stuff it down their throats rebel. I realize my petticoat is on fire. Even my bonnet was not spared.
I am even for defunding the police, if they are only occupying a police car and not serving to protect. I think neighborhood watches can be recreated to fill the need to protect our neighborhoods and the value of life. You be surprised the number of veterans that would step up, step in, if needed.
I just happen to see the problems we have from a different point of view. I'm not for anarchy. I'm not for kaosss. I am not for overthrowing anything. What I am for is State Rights. And the right to live according to our conscience. According to our faith. And when there are elements that infringe my right to live to seek happiness and to prosper... we have re-examine and rethink our problems for solutions. Enough things have occurred that places destiny in our hands. Its time we reclaim . It’s bad when even my phone is acting like our government. I just want to type without autocorrect dang nabit. I think enough is enough.

This is disgusting that they did not out of respect cancel the event. Profits over children. We know it was like a trade show, lots of gun companies showing off their wares. Where are the women particularly the ones who are so attached to guns, what are their thoughts. Disgusting.

Why would they cancel a trade show over the acts of a madman? They had nothing to do with that deranged person.

@@rondohatton7292 Out of respect and particularly because they are the ones responsible on some levels for this. If this was your child that went through what those children went through you might feel different. As a woman, a mother, a grandmother out of respect and then listening to those speakers. Mental illness well if he had mental illness and we had a good back ground check system things might have been different. Easy to say it is a deranged person. He was 18 still maturing as a society we are all responsible. I wonder if you see it that way.

Personally I don't believe the election was stolen. You have your opinion and I have mine. The bottom line is to vote out useless politicians no matter the political party.

The new call to make the age 21 is dumb. The argument is that if they just wait a few more years, that they won't want to commit mass murder yet.
Ignoring mental illness and things that drive people to commit these types of acts. In favor of playing politics and trying to limit or take rights away.
Get with reality already, solve the real problem and quit being afraid to address mental health on a national scale.
