It's funny to hear that a lot of people fear making comics because they're not good at art, whereas for me i'm good at art. It's the storytelling aspect that i'm not good at. At least with art, practice makes perfect. But what can be done about bad storytelling? I low key envy people who are good at storytelling.

Thumbnails are key to improve story telling. They don't have to be elaborate, but do think about angles and clarity. Typing paper, a sketchbook, doesn't matter, it's just the raw story. Show them to friends, get some feedback as to whether they can understand what you want them to see and feel. They're easy to fix, then when you're happy, transfer what you arranged to your final artwork.
      Hope that helps.

My proccess as a lone webcomic artist:
I've written all of my plot points and ending in a small summary.
I don't have a script. I go with the flow and reach my plot points organically. I only make thubnails and figure out the dialogue on top of the thubnailing proccess. It's really quicker and gets you working faster without losing motivation.
    Atleast works for my webcomic!

My issue is just trying to motivate myself to work on it. I have so many ideas floating around in my head, characters that I love and have backstories for, and plot lines, but I can't ever get myself to sit down and work on it. I always end up getting distracted and drawing fanart instead of original content. I sort of got one comic started, but it's only the first 10 or 11 pages over the course of 2 or 3 years. I don't know why i can't ever get myself motivated to work on it. I love the characters and ideas i have(even if they do still need a lot of work) and constantly daydream about the characters, but I have no energy to get it all out of my head. I just end up drawing fanarts instead. I'm not sure if it's because my fan content gets noticed more than my original content(which even then my fanart doesn't get that popular) or what. I never thought i cared about being noticed but perhaps that's it after all? Or perhaps i just need more self discipline and force myself to work on the comics anyway? But then if i do that i'm afraid of having a burnout and no longer liking the comics.
Edit: Your video was super helpful. I think part of my issue is that I'm mainly working straight from my head, no script or anything. It's just a story and characters me and my friend briefly talked about a few times, so maybe a script or list will help. And maybe starting on a smaller comic (the two me and my friend have are pretty much full blown series' lol). I also definitely will need to draw the characters more because other than two simple wolf characters i have't drawn the main cast of either comic that much.
I'm definitely going to give some of your tips a try and see where things go. Hopefully i'll be able to get myself motivated to work on the comic.

I've been drawing my own comics for YEARS, but never had the courage to post them. One story my sister and I have been working on sense 2009 lol. I've re-drawn it so many times, changed how pages look, taken things in and out of it and added and taken away plenty of characters. I came so close to posting it not to long ago, but ended up yet again changing the opening two more times! I've told my sister if I try to do it again to slap me. Anyway watching you draw and talk about your own comic really motivates me to keep working, and all the tips you give are very helpful. So thank you, and good luck with your comics! And to everyone else working on their own as well!

I've been working on a webcomic for a few years now, and still haven't worked up to courage to actually start it, so this was a good watch. Hopefully I can actually get off my butt and start posting it this year ;-;

I’m so glad this video was recommended to me. One of my big projects this year is finally getting started on my webcomic. I have an idea of the story, certain scenes, the characters fleshed out, etc. What I need to figure out is a general cohesive color scheme/feel, the actual layout of the panels, thumbnails, the script, oh god the scripts.... I get so overwhelmed so fast! This video REALLY helped with the layout in preparation up to me even drawing the first page. I feel like I have a plan now and already have much less anxiety regarding my eventual web comic! Thank you so much. I’m terrible at being way too critical of myself but your reiteration of “it doesn’t have to be perfect” will come in handy:)

I want to say thank you for this video.
I've been working on a comic idea for about 7 years - aimless and unsure what I'm doing, and being pushed forward only by the love and care I have for my idea. I've been in the same boat, searching for someone to tell me how to do this, and I've only just now got to a point where I'm confident in posting it. A lot of my character sheets and ideas have become an embedded mental thing over time, but I thank you for this. It is helpful, and helps me feel less scared to take the jump.

also i started reading Pretty Mouth and i love it

Ah this came at the perfect time! This year I've been resolved to start working on my comic, I managed to create a snippet for a class I took but man it's been so hard to find the confidence to commit to the whole story. But you're totally right, you just gotta jump in with both feet. I've got a few endeavours going and it's mainly because I just threw myself in it, didn't necessarily make allthe first attempts available to the public but yea, starting lol

I'm happy to have found your video. I was 18 when I decided to start a comic. But because drawing was a hard thing for me, I focused more on the plot and story narrative than the drawings. I did practice a ton of drawings and I am at least on the level of drawing full body pictures for character sheets.
I'd hire hardcore re-readers (who would also be my editor) to look around past content and make sure that what I'm currently writing doesn't contradict what was established in the past (aka plot holes/retcons)

(You people in the comments don’t have to pay attention to this it’s just for myself)
    1) get an idea, character ideas, basic story idea
    2) plan the plot points and layout/outline of the story
    3) mood board (does it feel right?) you could always make a checklist of al the things you want to include
    4) character design, character sheets
    5) script it
    6) panel layouts, then full panels
    7) read the damn thing
