Love your videos so much! Thank you for showing a second example with tips, and without repeating previous information. Your words are so concise and perfectly chosen! :-) I love that you took the time to show the results of your grafting. Wow. I'm going to start my own grafting adventure with a much better chance of success! Thank you!
you probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Maxton Kyrie i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is great. My landlord is building his new office right where my fig trees were, so I had to cut then down and start a bunch of cuttings. Probably 100 or more. I figured I'd plant most of them and graft in different varieties as I was able to acquire them. This looks like the ideal way to replace the entire tree.
This takes some practice, but if you get a good " Take" it will grow quickly. Thank you Mr JS . I watch many of your grafting videos , multiple times, especially right before I go grafting .
@@JSacaduraYeah, I've been watching how you hold the blade when cutting, etc. Still studying your saved videos focusing now on that part of the equation very carefully. I really intend to put safety first so I'm observing a pro like yourself, and then when things green up alittle more, it's on to trial and error. 👍 I've got this👍. Thanks to you. Appreciate your videos tremendously, and keep up the good work. 🌳
Be sure to check my video on using the grafting knife safely - ruclips.net/video/-AsaxoqzU88/видео.html. Using these techniques is very important to avoid injuries when grafting.
I don't use this technique in apple trees as they respond well to bark grafting, unlike other fruit types, but they probably will be good candidates for practice runs, if the sap is flowing well and the patches can be removed easily.
The best season is summer or end of summer while its still warm. Over here its a bit warmer than the UK, so I can do it in the Autumn, but its not ideal, as the bark must be slipping well.
Olá, Emanuel. Infelizmente, o pouco tempo disponível não me permite ser mais prolífico no que respeita aos vídeos. Obrigado pelo comentário e pelo apoio.
Amazing! I've tried your other techniques on fig grafting onto a root stock of a different species(Ficus umlifolia), they work really well cause I have trouble growing figs directly on ground. I'm thinking of using that large native fig growing in my backyard, instead of cutting it down, i could graft a fig via patch budding to make it somewhat useful. Thanks for giving me ideas!
Hi. I'm glad my videos are helping. Be sure that there isn't any delayed incompatibility between different fig species before committing further into your inter-specific grafting project. I had a few incompatibility problems grafting a hybrid variety (F. carica x F. Palmata) into Ficus carica, that's why I'm raising the issue. Thanks for the comment.
@@JSacadura thanks for replying, I had about 60-75% success rate using this stock(F. umlifolia) the best result from any other native fig species in my country. While I like to prefer the common fig(F. carica) as my stock, they grow really slow and a lot of them fail during the rainy season.
I have a question. What's the best way to prune a pomegranate. Do you have videos about pomegranate? I just found this channel and I'm mesmerized by the way you present facts. You are the best.
Thank you for this marvelous demonstration, of this patch graft. I am going to try it. Can this type of graft be done for all type of trees, including non fruit trees?
Great video Congratulation ... I just want to ask if it possible grafting with different tree like apple to cherry tree or to figs to figs only I mean in one tree in the same tree. It can be with different trees please... Thanks
Great video! I tried a patch graft on a mulberry tree this past winter but it failed, I think I'll try it again now that it's summer and see if I get different results.
I have FLF and I have accidentally remove the husk about 6 inches. What will happen to the stalk now that is already naked. Will my FLF die soon? As of now it has no foilage.
What type of parafilm do you use? It looks different to what I can buy in the UK. The type I have won't allow a bud to burst through, like you describe.
In the peak of summer, with the heat, a single bud might not make it. A patch protects the buds a bit more effectively, that's why this technique is used instead of budding.
Hi I'm new to grafting so I have a question which is more viable a patch bud graft or a chip bud graft or a wedge scion graft? Also how would a beginner know which type of these grafts to use to clone a desired tree?
This is awesome! I’m definitely going to try this method ASAP, thank you for sharing Jaime! One question, is late summer okay for this method in cold winter areas? I would be doing this method on a potted tree that will be brought in to an unheated garage for the winter.
Hi, Jamie. As long as the tree as the sap flowing well and the patch can be removed "easily" (without breaking it in pieces) the technique can work, even in late summer. Also, bringing the tree inside will help, but there is a chance the bud won't start growing until next spring, even if the graft takes, if the weather starts cooling down (not a problem, since its inside and protected).
Do you ever have grafted a chestnut? This technique you are using in this video should work. If tryed a lot of techniques and different time of the year. It never worked.
Sir, will you please make grafting & pruning videos on persimmons? The scion on our tree died & now we have a big native american persimmon with root suckers growing several feet around it. I want to graft some Asian persimmons on the suckers & maybe some on the lower branches.
You can use the Whip and Tongue technique already covered in several of my videos, with persimmons. Just be sure to do the graft after the tree has the sap fully flowing (Spring, Early Summer) or it will fail (don't do it in the Winter or Early Spring). Nevertheless, I will add your suggestion to my video list ideas.
I have seen several of your videos all well done, you are a great muster, compliment, i just want to ask if you have got some video about wallnut grafting, because i want to chance varietà,thank you very much, i call frammenti South Italy.

I have always used a regular swiss army knife, and some people swear by craft knives (the ones with the replaceable blade) Any sharp knife that is a comfortable size will be fine
The bark lifting and sliding under to hold the patch in place is genius! Thanks for that!

Can I graft to a mango tree in the month of February, where the temporatures here are more than 30 degrees centigrade?
You might be successful as long as you protect the grafts very well. Otherwise, they will lose moisture and dehydrate quickly, causing failure.
Do I need to have buds in my scion for successful grafting? Or can I pick scions without buds ( but have 4 to 5 nodes )?
Please reply 😊
