    Great, now you got me reminded of our Paladin player in Curse of Strahd.
    He actually had a pretty cool character idea, a prince that was raised to become a general for his kingdoms army while his older brother became king, but the older brother died so the crown fell to him. And he realy didnt want the crown, so he convinced the council of the king that he needed to prove himself by winning the war against an ancient enemy that they had, but not had any contact with for a loong time, this being Strahd. So he marched in to Barovia with an army, effectively resupplying the area with well armored zombies. This was great since we were getting up in the levels and the opposition was getting a bit weak. He even went so far to first deliver a new proclamation of war to Strahd himself to do things the "right way". Good stuff.
    But then, after he had delivered the letter, he met up with us at the tavern, saw that the tavern keeper was a lady and proclaimed that they were in fact at war now, and in war rape happens, so if she would just bend over, that would be great and we could get started on the raping and pillaging that comes with war.
    I think he was trying to make a funny. He did not succeed.

      Sebasculin Plus it also comes with the fact that most people want to do whatever they want because they feel there won’t be consequences. That’s why it’s important for DMs to punish acts of evil. Such as groups of mercenaries hunting them down for a bounty on their heads. Thus evil characters would try to be more careful rather than “I fIrEbAlL eNtIrE tOwN lOl”

  • @HyperIonMake
    @HyperIonMake 5 лет назад +3

    I just let my players do whatever they want. In my groups at least, I have found that by refusing to ever step in and force something to happen (ie, meta gaming as a dm) or refusing to prevent a player from doing what they know they have the physical ability to do, they seem to take on the moral responsibility for their actions. When they fuck it up, and hurt the game for everyone, they feel bad because the out of game party is mad at them. Important point: play with people who would feel bad in a situation like that. When you have a group of people who you are actually friends with, and you force them to deal with the reality of their choices, they get in line real fast.
    I also make sure that the players understand my concept of allingment. Ie, lawful means strong "code" (doesnt have to be good), good means "for the greater good", evil means "selfish and self serving (but can extend to the party versus the world)", and chaotic means fluid in "code" not random and illogical. When they really understand this, no one even tries the "i shoot the npc in the back because im chaotic evil HAHA" because they know a real chaotic evil character wants everyone around them to THINK they are good, until they the the opportunity to get what they want.
    Alternatively my character is a lawful good who plays as chaotic evil in casual circumstances. He doesnt want to be seen as the heroic type so he "acts" the part of a fuckboy prince who doesnt give a shit about the world. However when it comes down to important encounters, protecting innocents, or anyone coming to harm his true morals come out. In my opinion that leads to the best roleplay potential because you can be chill with the NPCs (unlike so many stiff clerics) but still be a hero.

    Played a campaign last year as a chaotic evil, elf, anti-paladin, the other chaotic evil character was an orc barbarian that was so dumb his role play gave his wife and some other players headaches. Between the two of us we killed the father, son, and grandmother of a gnome family. The grandmother I had flayed all the flesh from her waist area so that it hung on her like skirt, and then hung her as a chandelier; still living mind you. This was actually something I had planned for another player; female, half elf, prostitute, druid. A couple of failed rolls and a desire not to be mauled in my bedroom by a transformed dire bear ended that plan. Oh and the orc barbarian ate every one of the gnome's we had slaughtered.

    Are you playing these game sessions through Skype, or another online gateway? Or are you playing them in person? If it's online, please inform me why you are still dealing with these players. It makes for great stories, I admit, but I can't see why you would want to keep playing with them. If it's in person, leave. I once left a group because of how the DM house-ruled a few things. I even liked the people there, but I wasn't having fun playing, so I told the group and left after wishing them well. And no, not ironically, I meant them all well as people, but not as players. There are always more people to play with since this game has gotten a lot of attention in the last year. I found my current gaming group through a post on the hospital message board where I work. And that was three years ago and we're still going strong. Ask those who already have common interests with you, like co-workers. Ask people you already interact with on a weekly basis. Ask the guy that makes your coffee at Starbucks, the girl that's your cashier at Walmart, or whoever you interact with a lot and see again and again. Those people have interests too and they might like to play the game with you.
    Again, I have to admit, I do get a kick out of your tales of irritation from these encounters. So either way, keep playing your character;)

      When I talk about my main group, I've told them about it, all the rest have no idea as far as I know. I don't advertise it because I'm afraid they will try to do things to get into the videos, and that's never good.

    So... Have you considered asking your DM about PvP? As a Paladin, you're kind of obligated to thwart these guys, even if doing so means violence.

      Of course, though I do have this thing where I don't like looking at my finished product. Actually this video is one of the ones that convinced me I really need to check out the finished product before I upload.
