    I bought a pair of satin white Silver 200 yesterday. WOW. Amazig, best speakers I have ever had! Im so happy with the tweeter, mid range and great bass!!!! 😍😍 Im using the hybrid digital NAD C388. Previously I have owned Focals, Dali, Cerwin Vega, Sonus Faber speakers. are these better them Concept 40 AV Speakers?

  • @user-gz6tx6yp3v
    @user-gz6tx6yp3v 3 года назад

    I wonder if the Arcam AVR 20 would be enough to drive these for 2 Channel music as well as for Home Cinema. My other option is the T778 from NAD but I suspect it may not be enough to drive these properly, especially in the low end. I know you cannot compare an AV multi channel receiver to a dedicated stereo amplifier etc, but I need a one box for all type of setup.

    Well, I just bought a Rega Brio and was looking at purchasing the Silver 200 but now are you saying that would not be a good match? In what ways?

    • @itsmorphed6416

      Hi there . Did you purchase the ma 200s for the rega brio ? I have a spare rega brio in the bedroom and was considering these speakers

    • @Edcarpenter67
      @Edcarpenter67 4 года назад

      @@itsmorphed6416 Actually, I ended up selling the Brio because I decided I wanted an amp with digital inputs. And I didn't like the remote, either. I didn't buy the 200s either. I bought a pair of PSB Alpha 20 speakers and about a year later I bought a pair of KEF q350 speakers just because i've always liked having two pairs of speakers. I think they're both terrific speakers but if I could keep only one, it would probably be the 350s. For the amp, I took a chance and got the Denon pma 600ne, at only $399. I can't compare it side by side with the Brio, but I really don't think there's any difference, soundwise. And it's got the digital inputs I wanted and a much better remote. So sorry I can't be any help regarding the 200s,

      Why the hell would you need 450 watts, do you have an arena for a front room? I run these on a Denon PMA 1600ne rated at 75w per channel and I cannot get my volume control past 11 o'clock without it being very uncomfortable.

    Hey friend all I can hear is bass and mid, no treble! so I hope that's your mic. I am very interested in getting these but I can still get a very good deal on the old silver 6's (only heard them on youtube so far) so ..are these definitely more refined, warmer and sweeter than the old model silver 6 and the bronze 5's. I had the Bronze 5's, took them back after 2 weeks as the treble was very nasty, edgy and cold sounding. Love the bass power and presence with MA speakers but awful treble always puts me off.

    • @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey
      @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! They're a great pair of speakers when you listen to them in person, you should book a demo sometime and listen to them yourself before considoring buying a pair, they're certainly different to the Bronze 5's. How has your search on RUclips gone so far?

    • @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey
      @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey  7 лет назад

      Hi they are both different sounding speakers. It would be a personal preference. I found these particular Monitor Audio's to be more neutral sounding than previous versions. The bass seemed a lot more controlled too especially when using a more powerful amplifier. The Kef's are very good as well they seem to have more detail in the mid range but I didn't feel they had the bass control that the Silvers did. It is a personal thing for sure. If you wanted to discuss this in more detail give us a call on 02476 525 200.

      @khallgrimsen 7 лет назад

      RICHARD ARTHUR im wondering the exact same thing. Monitor Audio say that they will work well between 20-35cm from the back wall. They are getting 18-20 at my place. Considering buying these as a upgrade from Dali zensor 5.

    • @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey
      @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey  7 лет назад

      Hi Richard, these speakers would be very well driven by the uniti star. I haven't noticed any issues with having these speakers close to the wall yet. It wouldn't be the ideal but these speakers are provided with bungs to calm the bass in these sort of environments. If you want to give us a call on 02476 525 200 I can go through these speakers in further detail with you and suggest other good partners such as the Kef R500 in a similar price range.

      The Yamaha R‑N602 Amplifier would drive these speakers okay but it might be worth looking into the Rosksan Blak Amp, but that's quite a bit more but run these speakers beautifully. One of our sales guys might be able to help a little more with amp recommendations, if you drop them a call on 02476 631 707 or just drop sales@hifix.co.uk an email and they'll get back to you asap! Thanks.

    I'm toying with a 6 month old pair of these to replace my Silver S8's - I'm very much into modern jazz and wonder how well they perform? - I must say your music choice is shite to my ear's and yet I grew up on Hendrix, Focus, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Soft Machine and more.... - Maybe I'm getting old but if you want to promote hifi speakers then at least play something that displays the range of their audio spectrum!

      I have to agree with the music, not to my liking either haha!
      I would say, if you can, go to your local Hi Fi Dealer and take a listen. i believe this particular model may have been discontinued now so you can get them at a decent price, we however, sold through our stock.

    Don't trust the reviews. Monitor Audio= Big marketing, with big margin, and in reality the used drivers are cheap chinese drivers with PLASTIC basket! And if 1 driver go bad, the new driwer sold so much you'd do better if you buy a new one. Don't misunderstood me i was a big M.A. fan, it was a good brand till the 2000's, but now it's not that... Nowtime the big margin (profit) which remains with the merchant/traders allows many test writers/reviewers to encourage them to form a good opinion of the product and thus encourage them to buy, but in the reality this profit, whats land by the traders they are saved on the quality of the product, and thats not good for the buyers. Trendy outfit, big profit, from this profit they can "buy" good reviews, and cheap cinese plastic product. This is the new directive by the Monitor Audio. I personally newer buy again from this brand.

    • @mgsamps

      I would agree to some extent that Monitor Audio of old (circa 1980's - 1990's) used better drivers, I had some R652's up until recently and had them apart a few times. But I would NOT say the drivers used in the silver 200's and similar MA models are cheap crap plastic affairs, they are very well engineered as are the cabinets and the crossovers. Monitor Audio build their drivers in house and because of this are able to produce high quality and well engineered parts while still keeping the costs down. I've owned many pairs of speakers over the years and can tell you right now the build quality of these are excellent as is the sound quality, you'd be hard pushed to find this kind of performance and build quality for less, they even come with 5 year warranty (unlimited on more expensive models) I would agree that some speaker brands are ripping off customers in a big way (PMC come to mind) using just average and sometimes very cheap parts and charging customers $4000 is really not on, MA have a large selection of speakers to suit all pockets and needs and I do feel they offer decent value for money. We mustn't forget though that they are in business to make a profit and is the reason they are still in business today and doing quite well whereas many great speaker brands that started around the same period as Monitor Audio have sadly fallen by the wayside.

    I can't wait until we, the UK as a country, can realise that shirt and pressed trousers is entirely too formal to sell me a pair of speakers. Please go and put on a hoody or something so I can take you seriously.
