Kensington Market is definitely the perfect place to visit to experience the diverse cultures and foods in Toronto in one spot! A must-see/eat indeed for tourists. Proud to be Canadian/Torontonian! 🇨🇦❤
Back in the ‘80s and ‘90s (and prior) Kensington Market was the neighborhood for vintage fashions/shops. Still is, but less so now. Queen St. W. (close to Kensington Market) used to be like that too, but sadly, that area has changed and the big retailers now take up much of the space (I’m guessing due to the increasingly high rent). The unique privately owned small shops are now mostly gone. It used to be the hip neighborhood for edgy fashion, the arts and music vinyl collectors and musicians for decades.
Growing up in Scarborough in the ‘70s and ‘80s, there were a lot of Chinese-Jamaican/Caribbean students in my school.

Hi David. Still happy to see how much you enjoyed your time here in Toronto: a city that is so diverse where you can meet people from anywhere in the world living here. A place where you can also find and eat foods from any country in the world as well. Kensington market used to be a real market, but now through your video, I see how much it has really changed. How times have changed. Anyway, I hope that the rest of your visit in Toronto was a pleasant one, and, as you can see, the people are friendly too. Be well and be safe wherever you are.🙏🏻❤️ BTW, was that Nathan playing the piano? Very good.

Judy! Toronto is an incredible place and I see why you love it. It truly is one of the most diverse and unique cities I've been to. I look forward to going back and to also explore other cities in Canada. Thats so interesting that Kensington Market was a proper market at one point, I would have loved to see it back then. It truly has changed. I've got a bunch more Toronto videos coming out soon so definitely stay tuned for those as well. And yes, Canadians and people in Toronto are incredibly nice. Its definitely nothing like here in Miami lol. And yes, thats Nathan playing Piano! He is classically trained in Piano and has a music background. One of these days I'll have to show a longer clip since he's a talented musician if it fits in a video. Wishing you a peaceful and blessed weekend and always so glad to see you here too.

@@Davidsbeenhere Thanks David. Weather is good and starting to cool down a bit. It would be nice if you re-visit Toronto. This whole city has changed a lot since the first time you visited Toronto, as I'm sure you have seen. Upward mobility, concrete and steel, but I think it has changed for the better especially in these times. I did not know that Nathan was a trained pianist: very well done. Looking forward to the rest of this series. Sending love and blessings to you, Nathan, Brandon and your entire family. Mucho amor 🙏🏻❤️

Not sure what it is David, but compared to your older videos and series, this Canadian series feels a bit meh...
    - I feel that the people feel a lot colder/disinterested to be in front of the camera in contrast to your style that is so friendly, outgoing and boss...so much so that I use YOU as an inspiration for my presentation style for my videos!
    - OR maybe it could be due to this new editing style where you don't have a lot of background music?
Either way, the energy feels a bit flat and its not from you; its just the location I guess. I got the same feels from the First Markham Place vid. I like that you've added so much information in your newer vids tho; super kudos for that!
Additionally, Chef Dev is cool! Funnily enough I stumbled upon his work very recently through a mutual acquaintance so I was surprised to see him on here!

Yeah head to Montréal for sure. I grew up in Toronto but go to Montréal often. Ontario is diverse but Québec has a powerful cuisine of its own ... from the world's best fast food that tops American to frou frou to straight of the land indulgences. Plus the more casual vibe is such a contrast from the insanity of Toronto and NYC.

What? You didn't go to Amadeus?? Why not? It's a market institution, known until the 80s as The Lisbon Plate. Portuguese country food, much fish and seafood. I worked in the market almost 35 years ago. It's changed dramatically. Very few fruit and vegetable places anymore. The tofu place on Kensington is still there, and they do great rolled tofu with baby shrimp.

You should only ask the older immigrants where they are from, most younger children of the immigrants were born in the US or Canada. If you asked them where they are from, they will give you an unfriendly answer "I am from here". I bet your great grandparents were not born in the US either. Hope that makes sense.

    Great videos.
There is a message written in us of only which you could discover.
Everyone wants to know everyone's business thinking the food on their table is my by his or hers own two hands.
And abuse the food they feed themselves and absolutely do not respect nature.
David you seem like a good guy and does not expose or whistle lows for his or hers own gain. That is greed.
Business is business in some people's eyes. And love is lost.
Do some history lessons, and make those before you and after you lives more happy and easier.
Everybody wants to know everyone's body make up and do not know how to speak English anymore.
Not a hate comment but an educated comment.
The problem in everyone's life is within him or herself.
A lot of wasted time, and not enough saving lives.
But this channel is about food, so feed your brain and pulses because mental health and health in general health matters.
Just looking out for you and your channel.
