  • 💧 This video serves as a cautionary tale. This car is back with another leak after we fixed it before.
Previously, we found that one of the door membranes was leaking. The adhesive which holds them on hardens, dries and shrinks over time and becomes less sticky, meaning the membrane can come unstuck and let in water.
As all four-door membranes are likely to be the same age, and will perish at a similar rate, we always recommend that if one is leaking, you should replace or reseal all four.
Unfortunately, replacing four costs four times as much money as replacing just one, and some customers decided to take a chance and just do the one that has a problem.
Cars do come back with additional leaks, it's just the nature of this business, and if they do, we will re-dry the car for free, but to take advantage of this, they must follow the recommendations on the inspection report.

The videos shown on this channel are taken from inspection reports, filmed for the customer who has paid for a diagnostic inspection, which comes with a video report. We share them here for informational purposes because the hardest part of fixing leaky cars is finding the leak.
After the initial inspection, if the customer agrees to have the work done, we film progress reports for the customer and will sometimes include them here.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: We don't know. That's why we do a diagnostic inspection. We cannot answer the question of how much it costs to fix before we know the extent of the problem. Prices for our inspection and hourly rates can be found on our website.
Q: Why don't you show us how to fix it?
A: This isn't a DIY channel, we are sharing videos we take for the customer as part of our inspection process. Furthermore, the vast majority of the fixes are simple, and if you need to ask how to fix them, you probably should let a professional deal with it. See below:

⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain airbags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.

Just found the same problem with my passenger side rear door. Not long had the rear windows tinted so guessing they would have removed the trims to get the glass out? 🤷🏽

It could be worth asking them if they did. It's entirely possible the membranes weren't put back properly if they removed windows.

I've got this issue on my drivers door for a 318 touring .
The water is (sitting ) like you mentioned on the drivers side well.

I have the same issue with my rear door, so it is leaking from the same hole. First, I thought that it is membrane, but it wasn't. How did you solve the rear door leaking issue? what am i supposed to do with that small hole?

I’m in the exact same boat. Rear drivers footwell (RHD) coming thru the bottom hole closest to the hinge, membrane is intact and bone dry but there’s water coming thru the hole. Can only assume it’s the outsides seals that have perished and letting water in where water shouldn’t get in. The seals aren’t expensive but apparently removing and fitting new ones is a horrible job

@@blackmaxbrannin7813 I have solved the issue by using gaskets. You need to buy a few gaskets that fit the door cover's clips, and install the door cover. the gaskets stop the water leaking.
