I'm 6 foot and I could barely reach the rear of the rear valve cover. You made this look super easy. 6 hours later I'm ready to put the rear cover back on. Hats off and thank you for the vid.
Dude, I want to thank you for showing the process and not jump cutting and just talking about it. Also for not wasting 30 minutes with BS talk about you personal life story ( unlike other videos).
Thank You for the video. Man what a job. Your video helped a bunch. That wiring harness on the rear valve cover was a pain. 👍 Done 2 months ago and still working good. Take your time and do it right. Don't wanna have to do that again anytime soon.
I'm glad I found you video. I got everything apart and asked myself why I even bothered. I had just as much trouble as you had. I still have to adjust my valves and put it back together. The wiring harness doesnt leave much room.
I came here to find out how to disconnect the wires from the back bank and you cut that part out! Hahaha Dammit. At least i know it can be done now, since i cant see anything back there, i wasnt sure. Kudos for not cussing the entire time. I was cussing for you just watching you screw around with that cover. This is why i dont think i could make youtube videos working on cars. They’d demonetize me and have to put an explicit waiver over it just for the language.
If you’re going to attempt this job be prepared for the rear wire harness to make you almost regret doing this yourself. Make sure to check all the spark plug tube seals for alignment on the tube. I used a small flat head and mirror to get them on right. Take your time and watch this whole video.
Thanks for the vid, oddly couldn't find another one 2nd gen Pilot specific. Are you using a topside creeper or something? I've been looking for any excuse to buy one.
RTV should only be used on the corners of the gasket and/or stepped casting areas that have a gap. Using a small amount of RTV will fill in those areas to assure a leak-free assembly
Hi, I tried to change the pcv valve but the tip stayed inside I was able to put the new one but I don't know what problem I'm going to have with the part that stayed inside
That’s exactly me; tried to do it the night before a trip and it broke off. I know there are pieces still inside, so I’ve rented a car and the valve cover is coming off after I get home. I’d guess that if the little pieces didn’t blow through the engine and tear it up, it would at least cause a blockage. Neither is good. Very interested to see the underside of that valve cover.
yo tengo un touring de 2011 y tambien tengo que cambiar los valve cover gaskets pero también quiero adjustar las válvulas. ¿Cuéntame es el mismo proceso que los Pilots mas antiguos?
Doing one today. Can you believe that valve cover replacement for both bank book time is 2.2 hours. Valve adjustment with gasket replacement is 3.5 hours total by Alldate.
I wish I could have seen better what you unclipped and/or removed to loosen the wiring harness on top of the valve cover itself. Unfortunately, we got a beautiful shot of your elbow for that section 😂 l do appreciate the video though as I will also be attempting this this week. I’m an extreme amateur with cars so wish me luck!
Ok. I see people like this vid. I see the wiring harness on the back. Guy says "unhooked wires in back" . I have absolutely no connections that I can find to disconnect. Every single time I had difficulties this vid only shows PURE FREAKING MAGIC. I don't know what was on the end of his bundle but I got a solid conduit wedding dick thick going to the hub of hell on both ends.
I am doing one of these now...what a joy. Honda has some great engineers, but they also have some major idiots making key technical decisions. The entire eco-drive system is worthless complexity for NOTHING. The cost vs benefit is horrible. You really should disable it ASAP. Next, designing engines that require valve adjustment, but preventing clear access to the valves is equally stupid. All car makers should be required to design the car for reasonable maintenance. It's really NOT hard when you are designing from scratch. Come on Honda, you can do a lot better! Same with timing belt changes.
Yea I loosen the wires, but I realize small little black Bracket on the valve cover still. 2 bolts holding it. After taking bracket off I was able to pull it out.

remove the two fan connectors along with all he disconnected, and the wiring harness will flip over completely out of your way on the front
I don't who's ingenious idea it was to have that ignition wiring on top of the valve cover. It's a stupid desgin.
IKR. I love Hondas, but even they're guilty of BS.
Thank you to God you saved our life's literally 🙏🙏🙏
Your welcome I’m here to help

Nice video, on these J-series V6 I prefer to start at the rear bank since it’s the most difficult.
Fantastic video! I will be doing this same job this weekend and this is the BEST video I've seen so far. Thanks for making it.
Thanks man I’m here to help 😁
Does the throttle body need to be removed? If so I need a new gasket.
@ramblinman7153 it does I don’t think you need new gasket just make sure is good condition 😉

Thank you so much for this video. One question. What is the silicone for and where does it need to be applied?

Yes 👍

Did you replace tube seals in this video? I don't want to watch the whole thing, but I gotta replace mine.
I did

Sorry man for my elbow . There are two bolts number 10 holding the bracket on both valve cover tops . Clips are easy two remove . Good luck 👍
What's the average price for this job? Thanks in advance

By looking at it, I don't even want to do it.
You can do it 🎉
Having hard time getting back valve cover off
Make sure to loose all wires harness

Alrededor de 450
@@fixitquick hi! Would that be just parts or would that price include labor as well? Just wondering 😀
