- YEA BABY! This map's got the poka-dots! It also makes the video file for this map big because compression REALLY dosn't like lots of tiny dots. A video this long shouldn't be 3 and a half gigabytes.

a cognitohazard of a surf map
I used to play a ton of surf/minigames/deathrun and jail in css. Seems like this is an austin powers remix of surf_rebel_resistance_final2, good map that one. Had loads of fun in it.
I know there is a very similar-looking map out there and it might be rebel resistance! I had a quick look and there are a few differences, if I was to take a guess it's that TheInvoker probably copied and pasted parts of it.
Yeah I thought I recognised this map from back in the day but without the Austin Powers theme
Just think, these movie ad textures could very well be the only easily accessible copies of those promo ads online now due to the passage of nearly 20 years

Sad how movies now just come and go without fanfare when 20 years ago there'd be fast food tie-ins and licensed video games for almost every blockbuster.
i am in favor of surf maps being covered in this series
A list of maps that I think would be interesting to see you cover (Added a few more since my last comment)
1 - Growing Map (Started off tiny but the author kept adding in new rooms suggested by comments on the workshop page.)
2 - gm_gmall (Really well made map full of fun little secrets.)
3 - de_apehouse (Absolute classic map. There is also a Christmas version that's quite nice.)
4 - GMod13_Hotels (One of my absolute favorites, just so interesting to explore. Would really love to see a longer video looking over this one.)
5 - gm_novenka (Has a similar feeling to gm_mobenix_v3. Really big sandbox map sorta deal.)
6 - supersizeroom_v2 (Another classic map, just a wonderful relic of Source.)
7 - HomeTown 1999 (Really comfy map of a small town, has a bunch of shops and stuff like that to explore.)
8 - sb_omen_v2 (Spacebuild map where you can explore each planet in our solar system, plus there's an end goal to go for. Can't forget that there's a few secrets around the map as well.)
9 - gm_liminal_hotel (A map that's a recreation of a real hotel that's gotten posted around a lot because of the whole "Liminal spaces" thing. Outside of the liminal aspect it's definitely an interesting map.)
10 - gm_goldencity_v2 (Similar to something like gm_bigcity, just a very large city map to explore except with a pretty rad look to it all.)
11 - Not a single map, more an idea for a whole video. A video looking over every version of gm_construct would definitely be interesting. A pack of every version called gm_construct history was uploaded to the workshop a little while back.
12 - gm_maze (The name says it's a maze, but it's more like a LOT of rooms that each lead into different ones. And every room has a completely different design to it.)

@@Whomobile some maps you might be thinking of with similar design: surf_rebel_scaz, surf_rebel_resistance, surf_congo_black, surf_elites. None of these are identical to this map but it may be a mandela effect situation
Knew I was thinking of congo_black, the spawn areas are basically the exact same
I actually remember playing a map similar to this also without the eye cancer actually quite recently, like around 2 to 3 years ago.

When I think I know all the weird surf maps in TF2, another weirdly complex one shows up lol. I'm pretty sure no one runs this anymore unfortunately, so it's understandable I've never seen it.
This series is so enjoyable. It's quite nostalgic to see all these bizarre Source maps.
I'd recommend gm_the_facility for this series.
"Used to frequent a forum where Austin Powers became a meme." Seeing the old Facepunch layout gave me a real nostalgic moment, there. I started posting regularly on the forums around 2009 when the meme started to take off. Good times. I miss that place.
Your vids are documenting things that could have been major parts of my life, I feel like these could have easily been something I played for hours afterschool when i was a kid and I never saw it. It feels like in a weird way I'm seeing what could have been an alternate childhood I could have had. Again great vids, I binge all of them love everything you make man.

Fun fact, I decompiled the original map and looked at the logic for the Codes, and they unlock based on a sum of values.
The keypad on the right unlocks with 2169, or any other combination (for example 2691) because the numbers have an attached value:
Key1: 10
key2: 100
key3:1000
key4:1000
key5:1000
key6: 500
key7:1000
key8:1000
Key9: 1
And that keypad is setup to unlock when the sum of the pressed numbers is 611.

pretty sure this is just a reskin, I've played the original plenty of times back in 2010-2012, it used HL2 Citadel textures that were all various blue tones.
