Hey Matt. I have a question answer to which I couldn't find anywhere. At 9:55 u said that AIM9 seeker will now automatically be slave to it now. Does it mean u don't have to press cage/uncage button anymore? I tried to test this myself. Cage/uncage seems to do something still, BUT rocket will still fly towards the target even if I do not uncage it.
With all those Aim-9 subvariants - why not add "rear aspect" or "all aspect" description into the dropout loadout menu ? Bombs already have additional descriptions, would be nice to Fox 2s aswell. Not everyone has the memory to remember all the versions. Cheers.
Personally, because the way it's done makes the display names look cluttered, especially when they're inconsistently formatted and sometimes even wrong. Besides, shouldn't this be the function of the encylopedia? Perhaps it would be a good idea to directly link the encylopedia entries for x weapon (like what Command Modern Operations does), or maybe have a window pop-up which provides additional information (like War Thunder or the more recently added fuse menu).
Hi very nice video and nice F-16 upcoming features , please keep in mind that the in DOG FIGHT Switch (3-position)-dogfight -missile override switch when we have lock on MRM or NAV mode the target keep locked in all 3-positions of dogfight switch but i think "WAGS" mention it that + Nice FCR TOI CAGED Correlated Target AIM-9 arrow symbol :) on HUD

Most references I've seen have the dash. Thing is though is that how DCS names things is definitely not the best. In some cases it's inconsistent with regard to what information is provided, how it's formatted and sometimes it's wrong. More recently a new system replaced the old one which in some cases made certain entries more ambiguous despite being much longer. To name some examples: - Sometimes variants are given (such as GBU-31(V)3/B) and sometimes it's left ambiguous (like GBU-24) - Sometimes weapons are given their name and sometimes they're not (GBU-24 is called Paveway III, but GBU-12 isn't called Paveway II) on another note, where the name is given is also inconsistent). - Sometimes the full word is used and sometimes it's abbreviated. - Sometimes acronyms/initialisms are expanded (such as HARM and SLAM) and sometimes they're not (like AMRAAM) - personally though I think I'd rather this one be left out and just use the acronym/initialism - this is what the encylopedia should be for. - Sometimes weapons will be given a name corresponding to a particular version, when that version isn't what's depicted (Mk 5 Walleye II is actually a Mk 23 Walleye II, Kh-41 is actually a P-270/3M80 (Kh-41 is air-launched, only the ship-launched version exists in DCS)). - Sometimes information is IMO, redundant (do you need to tell us that the AIM-120 is an AAM when it's found in the AA missiles category? Do you need to tell us the Mk 82 is a bomb when it's found in the bombs category?) - The training/inert version of the Mk 82 is given its correct designation (BDU-50), but the training/inert version of the Mk 84 is not (BDU-56). - The Tomcat's drop tanks are listed as being 300 US-gal capacity, when they're actually 267 US-gal capacity. - Sometimes NATO reporting designations are incorrect: the HY-2 is referred to as the SS-N-2 Silkworm, when Silkworm is neither accurate to the HY-2 (which is Seersucker) or the SS-N-2 (which is Styx). SS-N-2 is also inaccurate as that's the NATO designation for the ship-launched P-15, not the HY-2 (which is CSSC-3). The 9K338 Igla-S is also referred to as SA-18 Grouse (as with the 9K38 Igla) when it should be SA-24 Grinch. It doesn't just stop with weapons either: - The U-boat Type VIIC U-flak isn't a U-flak (it's just a circa 1944 Type VIIC or VIIC/41) - The Chieftain Mk 3 isn't a Mk 3 (if it was intended to be based on the Mk 3, then it's a Mk 7/L) - LS Samuel Chase has the markings of the Arthur-Middleton (PA 25, Samuel Chase was PA 26) - Everything with Ural-375 in its name actually depicts a Ural-4320, not a Ural-375. - Names for things like SAMs were made longer, but also made ambiguous (it used to refer to the Buk as 9K37M1, now it's just 9K37/SA-11), it also has strange formatting. Believe it or not, I could go on.

@@dillonwoolley5262 They very much chose this particular viper version because it's by far the easiest to sell Viper II upgrade packages with. There are a solid two rough generations ahead and behind it while this particular variant has the fewest novel weapons and systems relative to their existing code base. I guarantee there will be a Viper II in a couple years with APKWS/SDB/JASSM. I understand the desire for reliable recurring revenue streams, I just wish they were honest about the roadmap.
The scan angle for LSS in the F-16 is extremely small compared to other jets using the same litening pod, it seems to be only ~2 degrees compared to almost full coverage in the A-10 and a decent angle in the F/A-18. This makes it impossible to pick up a laser spot unless you already have the pod almost right on the position. Is this correct? Why would the same pod be limited in scan angle so much as to be almost unusable only in the F-16?

Yes! More viper love! Any word on when the 2024 and Beyond video drops?
Is anyone having an issue with the TGP TMS controls? My TMS down works, but designating a target with TMS up or switching between area and point track modes with up and right doesn’t work either. I have it SOI, a weapon selected, master/laser as needed, everything and I’m confused
Fix update: if you are on controller and/or use the axis for rdr cursor slew, add some deadzone, and you may have to unbind and rebind it in your controls
Wait isn't the LST already in the open beta? I'm pretty sure I used LST for a long time in the Viper and it worked just fine... or am I misunderstanding something here.
Significantly changed
Is there a setting in DCS that allows me to fly the high detail aircraft like this F-16 in the simplified model, such as the F-15C, MiG-29, etc? I have purchased a couple of high-fi aircraft, I just don't have enough spare time anymore to try to learn these beautiful aircraft. Thanks for the video!
No there isn’t but the f16 is as simple as it gets it takes one button to dogfight it takes two presses to fire a fox3
i will be looking forward to the other videos which you fly with Turkish F-16
Get well soon.....maybe i get the F-16 add some point :). I am more in to simpler Planes....Viggen, Fishbed....
Started flying the F16 this month. Nothing simpler.
Is there an update on the flashing screen fix, it would be nice to use the TGP again but, since 2.9 it's been unusable. I'm not DCS bashing but, a sitrep on the situation would be appreciated.
Not seen it myself but any updates would be on our forums.
Love to fly F16(in dcs). Awsome plane !
Does the automatic Sidewinder lock still kick in if the AIM-9 is set to BORE mode instead of SLAVE?
looking good!
Nice updated, I was hoping for APKWS when I saw the small rocket pods.
That would not be accurate for the year and OFP.
@MattWagner the APKWS is designed to be a backwards compatible weapons system since it only needs a laser source, have you taken this into account?
@@dillonwoolley5262 They very much chose this particular viper version because it's by far the easiest to sell Viper II upgrade packages with. There are a solid two rough generations ahead and behind it while this particular variant has the fewest novel weapons and systems relative to their existing code base. I guarantee there will be a Viper II in a couple years with APKWS/SDB/JASSM. I understand the desire for reliable recurring revenue streams, I just wish they were honest about the roadmap.
Is the Greek skin in the video part of the aircraft module or a downloadable one?
I'm just going to like this video due to the HAF F16
Love your videos Matt hope you get better soon! Keep up good work!
Yes, it is correct. You’ll need to ask the pod manufacturer.
Just waiting on the frag rings on the TGP now
That would be later for the Sniper ATP.
Any news on the broken gun piper jumping positions? Real annoying in a guns only DF.
No such issue, here. If you see after the next update, please use the forum to report with a track file. Thanks.
Its been happening on all the DF multiplayer servers, others are seeing it too. It is on the forum ATM Matt. All the best@@MattWagner
I’ll ask the test team
Amazing, thanks for the hard work@@MattWagner
Great additions! 2 questions tho. As far as my knowledge goes. Im already using LST for months in the viper on A/G missions with my wingman to spot / track eachothers laser. Where some changes made?. Also, When u had the AIM9 on slave mode on the SMS page. It already slaved to your radar lock correct? (then u could switch it to BORE trough either the SMS page or when press and hold ENABLE to lock it on manually) Or am i misunderstanding something here. The change with going from MSL/NAV to DGFT and maintaining the lock is a amazing addition. Thanks as allways, 2023 was a amazing year for DCS
LSS/LST have changed significantly as seen in the video. I did not have AIM-9P selected. From the HUD, you had to manually cage the seeker before.
@@MattWagner Thanks for ur quick response. That clears things up. Thanks!!!
An extra like for the Greek skin. 😉
Great Vid, thnx Wags :)
great video as always, but will we get sniper pod too? thanks!

@@MattWagner Thank u very much
Hey if anybody reading has an answer I really need one; for some reason when I put a ground force on the mission editor it doesn’t load into the mission, do any of y’all have a fix for this?
Please use the forum here: forum.dcs.world/forum/79-mission-editor/
I want to see GS(F-14) vs Wags (F-16)
Can't wait for the end of the year news for 2024...
You assume such a thing is coming
why my has shows nothing? nav does not work how to fix it????? only in hot it works but when cold dark cant see anything on hsd
If your HSD is blank, please remove all user created mods and run a repair. For such items, please use our forum here: forum.dcs.world/forum/118-dcs-f-16c-viper/ If you mean just not seeing any datalink contacts, you probably did not align properly.
Hey Mr. Wagner. I was always wondering, if the FAC is your voice. It sounded so familiar. Hearing them so close together, I´m now very sure it is. Am I right?
Yup
I read somewhere the f15e getting gbu 39 , is there a chance of the f16 getting them too ? maybe tape upgrade as well?
No, that would not be accurate for the year and OFP.
@@MattWagner Yeah thought so too but i had to ask anyway , great work guys keep it up !
@@MattWagnerwould it be appropriate for the year F-18 we have?
Nope
@@MattWagner ✔️.
Is the rwr hand-off function coming close to reality?
are the lau 131 laser guided or not
Not, APKWS would be inaccurate for year and OFP.
thanks @@MattWagner
Is the viper roadmap updated? Will you continue developing after roadmap finished?
The roadmap is current and will change as needed.
I don't know if it's the f16 block 50 works with tgp or in game bug, but everytime I change steer points the targeting pod changes its target relative to it, very annoying while doing a2g
As it should operate with this aircraft.
only if you change the bombing modes (CCIP/CCRP). I notice on CCIP, the TGP is free floating. When I select CCRP it slews to the active steerpoint.
Any news about dogfight having a significant delay with the EEGS pipper and funnel? This was a more recent bug
Not seeing any such issue. Please use our forum with a track example. Thanks.
wait so we didnt have buddy/jtac lasing in the viper before? or if we did how is this different?
It's been around for ages; the video demonstrates how to use with the new LSS/LST system.
