How many people are alive today because of environmental regulations? What about clean water and viable food stocks? And how many humans are decently educated and have high quality lives because of liberal policies, even if they don't become rich or powerful. Liberal policy is "progressive" meaning it attempts to prevent catastrophes that may happen in the future. These regulations or investments are expensive and give little payback and we may never know if they actually worked. How many pandemics have been stopped in the last 30 years by early monitoring systems? How many crashes have been averted by financial regulations? How many people are alive today because of environmental regulations? What about clean water and viable food stocks? And how many humans are decently educated and have high quality lives because of liberal policies, even if they don't become rich or powerful. The balance is letting the market compete, innovate, and destroy one another and the planet while reigning it in when it gets out of control...I can guarantee you by the year 2050, you will wish we'd been more liberal.

I would like to hear Sowell's opinion of Trump after his 4 years in office. Trump practically did what Sowell recommended by cutting taxes and eliminating regulations. Trump may have been an egomaniac but at least he loved America.
