  • Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
    - a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
    - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
    - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
    - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways
    - a far-side impact test, the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated by two dummies in the front.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.
All details on the Euro NCAP Website:

Well designed center airbag. Provides ample protection, but deflates after the crash so it doesn't trap the driver in the seat, and doesn't slam into the driver during inflation.

Modern technology would make a vehicle too heavy to be safe in that speed range.
The heavier the vehicle, the greater the kinetic energy, and the more dangerous the vehicle becomes.
Safety standards are getting stricter year by year, and if we assume a collision at high speeds, the relative speed will reach 200~240km/h.
This is why collision prevention technology is attracting attention along with collision safety technology.

      @@zakokiem1914 check your facts. The NX450h does 0-100 km/h in 6.2sec, cars like the X3 M40i or AMG GLC43 do 0-100 in 4,4sec

    • @Victortrotska
      @Victortrotska 2 года назад +2

@@kristians2704 You are correct it is not below 5secs but it does less than 6.2secs. Japanese manufacturers are known to claim "worse" than reality: the Lexus NX450h+ does below 6 secs on a wet day with eco tires, not performance grip (like it was done with the car you mentioned).
But to me, the NX450h+, X3 M40i or AMG GLC43 are no fun: they are just heavy elephants able to accelerate fast in a straight line...
I would have more fun with a cheap MX-5 on a twisty mountain road than going fast in a straight line back and forth on board a 2 tons SUV. But to each their own...
This NX450h+ I like for comfort, environment (its pure-electric range is enough for 90% of my daily trips being up to 90km in a city being careful), and practicality (boot space & rear seats) with enough punch to move it faster than a semi-truck.
