i’ve been studying from your tutorials from the past couple days so this is coming out at the perfect time for me ! i know you’ve shown your speedpaint for eyes but i would love to see a video on how to think about the construction of the eye so it’s easier to create different kinds of eyes. and thank you for sharing your skills !
I just started using Clip Studio Paint and I'm just amazed by the amount of tool it provided , definitely worth the investment. Your tutorial whenever its about your arts style or about CSP tool is very helpful. Thank you.
I'm happy that I made my artworks more amazing with your tips, you are very good at this so I hope you never lose motivation. You should get more than you deserve :)
Oh gosh thanks! It's actually always a bit uncertain what to make next after I finished working on a video. But I hope to find some new stuff to show ^^
I never thought of using the lasso tool like that! I'm not that good in digital painting (though I can draw and paint well traditionally) so this really helped me get some ideas on how to render when digitally painting.
Actually being able to master drawing in general, either digital or traditional is the key to draw. I think it's easier to make the jump to digital coming from traditional. So that's awesome :) thanks for your comment!
I never really realised how great the lasso tool was until I started doing much more detailed pieces (even then I only ever used it for one thing). thatnks for sharing these methods of using it and sharing your methods online! have a nice day :)
Whenever I would see a speedpaint or a time-lapse from artist i follow, some would use selection and my attention would spike. I could see it helped them with edges but never found a good video talking abt, until now. This channel is amazing
oh kuro this was super insightful !!! i used to be very intimidated by the lasso tool but now it’s one of my absolute fav tools in digital art !!! i use procreate and the functions may vary compared to csp, still the lasso tool’s been such a lifesaver 😩 as always, i love the way you pay attention to detail when explaining things, it’s kinda simple and so easy to understand !! :D also, the neuvi pose at 03:34 is so so cool like i gasped so loud !! would love to see the final piece :D
What thanks for this sweet comment! That's actually very wonderful to know. Yeah Procreate offers similar functions But honestly I haven't quite understood this app. And the Neuvillette will be finished, one day, I promise xD
I only recently found your channel and it's been one of the best tutorials for helping me understand the tools in Clip Studio Paint! I've been having trouble getting into digital art because I barely understood the program, and I was looking for tutorials. I found some, but they didn't help me personally somehow, despite them being good videos in and of themselves. Your format has been helping me understand the program in ways I haven't been able to before (Like formatting my UI to have a reference page and an overview page!) And it's been helping me explore the UI of the program and understanding what I would want for my own projects. I'm still going through the rest of your tutorials (Your art style is so pretty, I love it!) but I just wanted to say thank you for these straight and to the point videos. I normally don't learn very well from voiceless tutorials, but this was just what I needed! Thank you again, and I hope you have a good year in 2024!
Wow you don't know how much reading this comment means to me. Seriously that's such an honour and shows me that what I am doing isnt that pointless. I understand all your points. I found it hard to look for specific tutorials which just answer one question but assume you know everything else of a program. Also voiceless videos are a good point. I live when someone is talking while I dont have to look at the screen all the time. So these things made me unsure about the format. But learning a program while drawing and don't separate these 2 things was the best way to get the hang of it. So I wanted to share this despite not having a voice over. Anyways, thanks a lot for your lovely words. I wish you a wonderful year 2024 and good luck with csp, it's actually a lot of fun :)
I just wanna say thank you so much! your videos are really a a lifesaver for an artist like me who's currently figuring her ways in digital art so helpful!!😔🙏❤❤
I haven't had the chance to properly test your art process from your other videos since it's the holidays and because I think my art skills are still lacking. But, I'm making it my new year's resolution to do more high quality drawing pratice so will definitely give this lasso tool a try! Thank you for the helpful video as always!!!!
bro i. thank you for this video, i never thought the lasso tool could be THIS useful holy- like i rly do wonder how i never thought about doing all these creative ways of using it during my decade of drawing digitally, but now i am VERY much enlightened KHJADGFHJK THANK YOU HOLY CRAP HAHA THESE ARE SUCH TIMESAVERS FOR RENDERING your illustrations are also absolutely stunning !! im definitely giving you a follow :DD
Aw thank you for your comment! I am glad it could provide some new insights ^^ I always think the Lasso is underrated and a pretty overlooked tool. Actually there are so many hidden features of other tools I haven't discovered yet in csp, including settings for the Lasso. So maybe I can explore more of it as well^^
Thank you so much for this guide! Lately, I've been seeing a ton of artists who use the lasso tool and I've always struggled to understand how it always looks so nice for them and never does for me. So I appreciate your clear explanation for how you use it! I'm so impressed seeing you render the leg with only the lasso tool and the airbrush! 😊I will definitely be studying the techniques in your video.
Oh thank you! It's really a game changer in working faster and drawing with satisfaction lol somehow it's rewarding deselecting after finishing airbrushing haha but true, many artists work with Lasso and it looks so easy. I think of the Reels Loish publishes when they're drawing backgrounds and sceneries. That's really impressive ^^
oh wow these are amazing! i had never considered this way of rendering, ill have to try it! ive been meaning to use the airbrush more, and you use it masterfully. what an inspiring art style! one thing i will mention is that the lasso tool you mention that auto fills comes default with CSP- its in the "shapes" section- you can also edit how smooth the edge is which makes it very useful for pixel art. ill be sure to check out your other videos!
Hey I’ve been drawing since March this year and your videos have helped me so muchhh ❤❤ I like using the lasso tool to build shapes and clothing first and then line art, so this way I’m kinda building the character and their clothes in colors and a base layer at the same time. Idk it’s kinda relaxing using the lasso tool hahaha have a lovely day ❤❤
Oh god thank you so much! That's actually a really interesting way of working to start with the Base shapes and add lineart afterwards. I am wishing you all the best for your art journey and a lovely day as well :)
You dont know how much i commend you for the effort you put for these tutorials! I just bought CSP and i cant wait to draw ^^ just need to get used to the tools since im used to the simplicity of procreate haha
Wow thanks for your kind comment! Getting started with a new software can be intimidating but also very exciting. And once you get used to it it feels pretty natural to use ^^ I really love the versatility of csp. Have fun experimenting and drawing! Wishing you all the best 😌
Subscribed. I always see amazing speed paint processes but naturally don't get the explanation through simply slowing the video down. I aspire to your level of art! 💞
I use Procreate, not Clip Studio, but this video was very helpful. I've always struggled using the lasso tool, but this really helped me understand how to use it effectively.
I wasn't sure how Procreate handles the Lasso Tool but I had in mind that there a similar ways and methods possible. Thanks for your comment. I am glad it was helpful in some regard :)
My biggest fear when I wanna use lasso is those hard and clunky edges T-T whenever that happens I lose my motivation and can't progress anymore Thanks a lot for creating this video, you deserve the world
hey thanks for making this video, cause i'm still trying to make friends with lasso tool haha, am def gonna use it for my next ark work, btw thanks for sharing the assets you use too, hope ya have a nice nice nice 2024!
I always admire the precision artists have with the lasso tool because it's super difficult for me, the select lines end up all wobbly and they leave the borders of the lineart. So it's amazing how you can contour an entire silhouette without coming across this problem. I don't believe in myself to have that exact precision 😢
How to use lots of lasso line at the same time 😭? I try to make lots of lasson line like when you use to render the hair but it keep disappearing after i draw a second line. I'm bad at english so I'm sorry if my explanation is confusing
You are such a big help, i startet to draw/paint 1 month ago and your videos are just perfect for everything! I just ordered a new xppen-tablet since ive been using a non-display tablett?idk if that makes sense. i want to commit fully to digital art. Iam curios if i can get good or atleast like 5% as good as you
Aw that's awesome to hear! Their tablets are nice to work with, so have fun drawing. Getting new tech is exciting and motivating. I am sure you'll doing amazing :3
i love the lasso tool and also your art!! this tutorial was amazing and taught me a lot of new ways i could use the lasso as well, thank you so much! 🫶🫶
How did you get that kind of workspace? I don't need the full thing but it would be very helpful for a separate window that has a flipped canvas. Also thanks so much for the lasso tool tips!
It really depends on how often you use it and how much of a basic tool it became in your workflow^^ Also a pen display tablet makes a huge difference. Thanks for your comment :3
Thank you for always sharing tips with us T^T they are really helpful 🫶🩷 (btw, there's a default instant lasso fill in Clip studio paint :3, it's in the "figure" sub tool palette, it's called "lasso fill" ^u^🌸 )
Question, when i use my lasso tool to do anything the edges are extremely rough, with a lot of saw tooth all around, ruining it completely, any way to fix that?
i’ve always wondered how skilled artists selections with the lasso tool looked like there was smoothening- so this whole time there was no stabilizer but just adding and deleting from the selection until the shape is perfect huh 😅
Some people have a really steady hand and can wing this. And a display tablet makes this so much easier. But yeah, shaping the selection like that is a huge thing :)
As starting artist with medium skill, I need to ask. Are there any options to find more followers on twitter? :< Maybe draw only fanarts or hype arts... It would be interesting to know from artist with a lot ot experience!
Hey. Honestly I don't know anymore. The cool thing was that tiu don't need a big following to gain attention there. The algorithm has changed since then. I see fanart of hyped shows and Ships are doing well. Also process videos. But I haven't been really successful on that platform for months. Also I think it's more important to keep doing what you love to do. This will work out the best in the long run.
Has it happened to anyone else that when using the lasso the colors mix with whatever is outside the selection? For example, I wanted to use it on a t-shirt with orange and blue stripes... but when I used a tool that had that option to mix colors it would mix me with the colors that were outside the selection
Yes. This really depends on the brush you're using I think. Some brushes are smudging the colours of the same layer. If you want to work with a brush which does this then a new layer would solve the problem because there's nothing to smudge. Or a standard brush. I hope this can help. I haven't encountered this too often but separate layers may be helpful :)
@@kurohshiro It happens even on separate layers... even if the background is transparent, a blending brush on a lasso selection is going to blur the color :C
Oh I am sorry to hear. I think Procreate and Ibis paint might have similar tools. Also Krita. And it works with a phone, tablet or small pen tablet as well.
I never actually use lasso tool unless I’m moving a specific part around - because the ibisPaint lasso tool absolutely sucks. The edges are always really pixelated, which I have no idea if that’s normal for other apps, but I don’t like it ahaha. Although, I recognise it’s really useful when shading parts adjacent to each other, or putting gradients in folds on the same layer. But it really doesn’t work with my lineartless art + ibisPaint unless I’m going for a seriously pixelated style - I’ll certainly adopt the lasso tool when I get a drawing tablet tho! Oh and merry Christmas :)
I see, I never used Ibispaint but working on a tablet or phone seems so challenging to me to begin with lol So respect for that. I hope you have fun when you get a tablet, it's a really nice experience^^ Merry Christmas to you as well!

To me, peak art skill is when someone can sketch with entirely just lasso tool. So metal 😁
Question, when i use my lasso tool to do anything the edges are extremely rough, with a lot of saw tooth all around, ruining it completely, any way to fix that?
thank you!
Thank you ❤❤
Hello, for some reason when I use lasso tool, my colors always bleed outside the line, do you know how I can fix this? 🥺
when doing shadows, should i only use multiply?
i’ve always wondered how skilled artists selections with the lasso tool looked like there was smoothening- so this whole time there was no stabilizer but just adding and deleting from the selection until the shape is perfect huh 😅
