- We drive across the causeway to Mersea Island and park in the Victoria Esplanade Car Park, West Mersea. We take a walk along the beach and see house boats, fishing boats and yachts. Later we walk to East Mersea and see a beautiful beach lined with coloured beach huts and an empty campsite due to lockdown.

Hi everybody, please note that there is now a height restriction at that carpark. Most motorhomes will not get in now. Had to park in a side street which sure the Council did not mean to happen!!
Thanks for the update, such a shame this is happening everywhere now. We need to keep lobbying the councils to keep these places open to us. 🙂 Trev
We found this, much to our disappointment, in July. We found a lovely little site a Tolleshunt D'arcy. From here it's so easy to get around, we made a point of packing our little old Elddis Eclipse for the day, for a repeat of the lovely, day last year, however we were disappointed, so turned around and went elsewhere. It seems so sad, the car park had a barrier already, which was supposed to be locked. The council employ some to remove the litter, is it beyond comprehension to get them to lock it too. After Lockdown, I thought seaside areas needed custom, not to deter it.
Just as an aside, Tollesbury is a quaint little place too, well worth a bimble!
One of my most favourite places on earth.
Been there many times.
Many wonderful memories. 😊
Mersea is a place that just keeps giving. Every time we go, we find something different 😀 Trev
Very scenic with all the boats on the water. Excellent videography 💕👍😊
Thanks for your lovely comments. I just try to capture what I see and how it feels. We still haven’t invented smellyvision and I forgot to mention the pong of fish near the fishing huts LOL 😂 Those houseboats looked like lovely homes but not sure about in winter 🥶 Trev
Hi guys what a pretty place, thanks for sharingTrev. 👍🏴
chrissey thank you for watching. 😁🚐 Trev
One of my favourite places to go. We spent over two years there on a seasonal pitch at Waldegraves holiday park. Spent many a happy hour walking up and down that beach with the dog. Perhaps we will make this our first run out to familiarise ourselves with the van. We are finding the car parks and charges very useful and will take away any anxiety I'm feeling about finding places to park. Thank you so much - Lin xx
Lin, there are different anxieties with a Motorhome to a caravan but I found the driving and setting up so much easier. Some people are very spontaneous and just jump in the van and go. We have to research where we are going and have a plan. It’s just the way we do it and it makes us happy. My step father always used to say “all roads lead to home” and he was a professional driver for years. This is certainly true in a Motorhome because you have your home with you. When touring, we have a rule. No more than 3 hours driving or 200 miles in a day. We occasionally break the rule but now we are retired it’s easier to stick to. Whatever worries you, it can be overcome. Whether it’s narrow roads or running out of gas, there is always a solution. You can always message us for help or ask what we do, we don’t mind 👍🏻😉 Take care and enjoy 🚐 Trev
A nice corner of jolly old England 🇬🇧 👍
Thanks for watching, we enjoyed our visit to Mersea 😁🚐 Trev
Hi both, what a beautiful place Mersea Island is. I had never heard of it before. Love having to cross a causeway which floods. Lovely beach and pretty walks. Also some nice properties and house boats x
It’s a little out of the way, tucked behind Colchester so is quite a sleepy little place but that is part of its beauty 😉 Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻 Trev n Sue
You've nailed it again Trev, captured a place! Thanks for bringing the Mersea to the Mersey 😊 Mart 'n' Jo
Mart & Jo thank you 😊 once again we had a lovely day. We never quite know what to expect when we set off 😁🚐 Trev
What a lovely place and I loved the music!😉 Thanks for sharing again a Trev & Sue👍🐶🐾😀
Thanks so much. We love putting these short films together even when we can’t camp on sites. Not long now though 😃🚐 Trev
Another lovely area you are visiting. You do have gorgeous spots to head to. No doubt you'll be away soon with your MH. Enjoy yourselves.
Thank you Karynn, sites open at the weekend but we are waiting until the following week to let the rush settle. We have lots of plans though. Hope you come along with us too. Stay safe 😁🚐 Trev n Sue
@@PoshcatsCamping Look forward to your future trips, take care.
What an amazing place. I am glad you’ll could do some day camping. Doggie walks let’s meet the fur baby. Love course sand.paradise thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing.
This is a place that I have not explored properly before even though it’s just 25 miles from home. We had some lovely weather in June and it really made these day trips a treat 😁 thanks for watching 🚐 Trev
Another lovely area to explore, you’re certainly getting the best out of the weather. Cheers Martin
Thanks Martin, it was nice on the grass car park. Really enjoyed the walks too 😄🚐 Trev
Another lovely outing! Thanks for showing us around.
Thank you Sue, have a great weekend 😁🚐 Trev
Lovely video trev and sue ..thanks looks so nice there. X
Thanks Debs, it was a beautiful warm day and the tide was high so really looked pretty. Sue and I had a lovely day 😀 Trev
Excellent vlog Trev lovely place thanks for sharing.
Thank you 😊 There is lots of open space on Mersea with a long coastline and country park. We only touched on it here and will probably go back again sometime 😁🚐 Trev
What a beautiful place to visit! Haven’t been here but will have to add this to the list.......again! 😀 You keep spoiling us with all these wonderful places! Such a shame to see the campsites empty ☹️ Not for much longer🤞Sending you both our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Thanks Keith & Michele it’s been a long time since we stopped on a site but we are on one of your recommendations later this month. Keeping it a secret for you 😉🚐 but we will give you a shout out 😘 Trev n Sue
Poshcats Camping Ooo, we’re actually revisiting one of our sites soon, wonder if we’ll see you there 😉🤗😀 Have a great trip, looking forward to your vlog 👍🏻 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Clue.... it’s the one with the mini VW for rent or use 😉
LOL, 2 suffolk boy's and both of us never been to Mersea Island before. Love the t-shirts.🙂Mark @ Coral
I have been on the island but never really looked around. Thanks Mark and Coral 😁👍🏻 Trev
I'm happy your able to go on a day trip! It looks quite lovely there! I love that boat full of flowers! Thanks for sharing Trev and Sue! Have a good week-end!
Thank you Susan. There were some beautiful private gardens too but it’s awkward to point cameras into people’s private spaces. The beaches were naturally very clean too which was very pleasing for us. 😃 Trev n Sue
Thanks for sharing Trev. Just a few more days left then we can all go away and stop the night...The van is all packed and on starting blocks.😀👍 Malcolm
Malcolm you say all the right things 😂 We can imagine your IH Van gleaming on the driveway, all packed and prepared 🚐👍🏻 stay safe in your travels, Trev n Sue
Love watching sailboats. I need one of those little round top cabins to live in lol. Another nice little day trip to the beach!
We enjoyed the car park at this one as it was nice grass and within view of the sea. Thanks for watching 😁🚐 Trev
Lovely day for a day out, loved the size of the house boats.
Yes the house boats were huge and some of the decks looked very inviting to sit out on 😁 Thanks for watching 👍🏻🚐 Trev
We love a place where you can just watch all the boats on the water. And I like the beach area too :) Hopefully those campsites will be full again someday soon.
Debbie - BluWave Odyssey
Thanks Debbie, Mersea was very pretty. Hope to camp on July 10th. Love to you and Bob 😁🚐 Trev
What a lovely location guys. thanks for sharing. stay safe.
Thanks so much for watching. It was a beautiful day too. Warm summer sunshine always helps but we really enjoyed Mersea. 🚐 Trev
Thanks for sharing Trev. We've been there a few times when we had our MotorHome. Stayed at a place called Waldergraves (or something similar) Ended up being a bit too popular and really couldn't get any sleep at night for people "enjoying themselves" until 4am. The last time I checked out I asked the receptionist "when did they move the f'ing site to Beirut" - I was tired.. (it was a long time ago and more topical then :-) ) GB
Waldergraves remains one of the larger sites and has seemingly hundreds of static vans. They still have the tourer fields too. We ran a rally at Fen Farm Touring Park in East Mersea, next door. It was always a little more up market I believe 😊🚐 Trev
Ah it looks lovely, seriously you're making our list of places to visit longer! haha thanks for sharing
Thank you 😊 Still a few more day trips under wraps. Our first overnight camp is 10th July 👍🏻🚐 Trev
I was thinking exactly the same. I think we will be getting plenty of day trips in over the next few weeks
Another beautiful location Trev. Thanks for sharing 👍🚐
Thanks guys, definitely worth a look. But be careful of the tides 😁😉🚐 Trev
Once again thank you for taking us somewhere we have never been to this is going on our list of places to go to as and when we can get off out again 🥂🐕🐾🐾
Thank you again for watching Anne. We have been thinking of you and other friends and family that have been shielding and we really respect you for the time you have dedicated to keeping yourself and others safe. We hope that you are able to get out soon. We found it quite strange on our first few outings, so we advise not to be too ambitious to start with. Sending you warm wishes 👍🏻🚐 Trev n Sue
Nice waterfront and beach area
It’s not a big name holiday resort but does have its own charm for sure. Thanks for watching 😁🚐 Trev
Hoorah for Mersea Island :-) Oyster time!
Yes indeed, we didn’t see many as it was high tide most of the time we were there 😁 take care 🚐👍🏻 Trev
We visit the Island twice a week, as we live in Maldon.....great video, thankyou......the causeway is sometimes called The Strood, and the Harbour is called The Hard.......next time, please visit Cudmore Grove Country Park at East Mersea, your dogs will love it there x
Thank you for watching 😃 We had considered going down to East Mersea and the Country Park. At the time, the visitor centre was closed and we were a little concerned about access with our big motorhome. Would love to visit though, great suggestion 👍🏻 😃 Trev
You chose a great day for it. Love how sandy the beach is. I didn’t realise there was sand in Essex. I thought the beaches were mainly pebble.
Quite a nice little find wasn’t it? We had good weather but really like Mersea just because it’s not “flashy” and commercialised. Yes there are tourist shops and camp sites but it’s retained its natural beauty too. Muddy at low tide but very nice for a short break in the van. Thanks so much for watching 👍🏻🚐 Trev
I wondered how long it would be before a Motorhome RUclipsr would pay a visit to Mersea. I was brought up on the Island and I'm about to move back!! Can't wait. I'll be living at my parents old house which is behind the Yacht Club ( I don't know if you made it that far) Great video, I dare anybody to visit in the winter!!😂😂😂
Oh wow, that is a great move. I imagine that it’s a bit “bracing” in winter, as grandmother would say. The island has a certain something about it. This visit was unusual due to the closed businesses but we really enjoyed looking around. There’s a challenge for us, a winter day trip 😉👍🏻 Thanks so much and good luck with the move. 🚐 Trev
Poshcats Camping thanks!! Next time you visit keep walking past the Tommy silhouettes to Wyatts Yacht Chandlers, opposite there is the Company Shed !! Google it or check trip advisor, it’s heaven if you like local fish food, eat in bring your own wine or take away. It’s the best👍👍
Trev no overnight parking they lock the gate at 8pm , if you come back at 9pm I surpose you get to stay the night, or is there a fine ?
Ah that’s not good. We were just there for the day which was ok. Great car park for that. Not sure I would want to overnight there as it’s surrounded with houses. Thanks for pointing out the barrier. 🙂 Trev
Very nice Poshcat Mammals! Sadly still only day trips allowed huh?
Yes the UK lockdown has been very long since March. We are soon coming out of human hibernation though 😉🚐 Trev
Hi, love watching your day out trips in your motorhome, thanks for showing us the car parks you use, am making a note for future reference so I know they are suitable for motorhomes. I live in North Norfolk and sadly some of our car parks have height barriers or are down very narrow roads. Just a question, do you travel out early morning to make sure the car parks are not too full for you? Thank you. Shazza 😊
We are bit lazy lately so leave home about 10am with a pre prepared lunch in the fridge and try to get to the car parks before 11am. We never do weekends. I always research the car parks to make sure there are no height barriers before leaving. We also have a plan B if we can. We know it can always go wrong this avoids disappointment. To date we have had success on all the day trips. Thanks so much for watching and your comments 😁🚐 Trev n Sue
We didn’t see previous comments but took a trip in Beni here today but they’ve put height restrictions on the car park now. Why ?!
It’s a shame that many of the car parks are starting to put height barriers up. Not only does it stop commercial vehicles and undesirable groups of caravans but us innocent Motorhomers get affected too 🙁 Trev
Victory Pub, Mersea Island.
Victory pub is located on Mersea Island. Directly behind the photographer is the Blackwater estuary, the black banner in the centre of the building read "A great place to sink a few" very appropriate bearing in mind its location.
Didn’t go in the pub as I think it was closed 😜 Trev
Thanks.
ps it is advisable to buy a Tide Time Table, then you will miss the traffic chaos ....arrive at the Strood at least one hour before the extra high tides.
Great advice. We will definitely do that 😉👍🏻 Trev
21st Century Coast Guards.
Yes indeed 😎
Thank you.
Nice one trev hope you and Sue r well looks a nice place nice to c Joe and is wife r well..I see u making the most out of the motor home as using it for days out which don't blame at least u can have a decent cuppa tea mm.... kev
Haha yes drinking loads of tea is fine when you have your own loo 😂😂 We had made it fun to do the day trips. Going home at night is a bit of a drag but hopefully things are changing 👍🏻 cheers Kev 🚐 Trev
There's old WW2 Pillboxes on Mersea Island.
Yes they are all along the east coast 😃👍🏻 Trev
Thanks.

DORLING KINDERSLEY DK EYEWITNESS GUIDES Book of PIRATE.
Discover the world of pirates - from the barbarous corsairs of the Mediterranean to the bloodthirsty buccaneers of the Spanish Main.
In association with THE NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM.
Will look it up 😃 Trev
Sounds intriguing 🤨 Trev
Thanks.
Pages 58 & 59.
The pirates defeated.
AFTER FLOURISHING FOR 5,000 years, organized piracy and privateering finally ended in the 19th century. When the century began, privateers were still a dangerous nuisance - yet the navies of big maritime powers no longer needed the help of privately owned warships.
So in 1856 most maritime nations signed a treaty, the Declaration of Paris, banning letters of marque.
New yechnology also helped to end piracy. The 19th century was the age of steam power, and the British and U.S. navies built steam ships that could sail almost anywhere, even on a windless day.
Pirates, who still relied on sail, were easily trapped by the steamers. By 1850 only small pirate bands were left.
Rule Britannia.
Yes indeed 😂
Thanks.
