    I really don't know why but Ian reminds me of the Mayor of Townsville from the Powerpuff Girls.

    No great fan of Mitchell, but the police _definitely_ lied in this case. It was also rather disingenuous of Ian Hislop to focus on Mitchell "admitting" that he swore - I'm not sure he ever denied it. It was whether or not he called them "plebs" that was at issue. We'll never know.

    • @ilikethisnamebetter
      @ilikethisnamebetter 8 лет назад +2

      He clearly _didn't_ deny that he swore. He said he didn't "swear directly at the police officer". It's debatable whether or not the words he used should be construed as swearing "directly at the police officer" (the fact that the police officer interpreted - or claimed to interpret - the swearing as being directed at him does not make it the case) - but the fact that Mitchell made the qualification "directly at the police officer" is a clear implicit admission that he _did_ swear.

    • @ilikethisnamebetter
      @ilikethisnamebetter 8 лет назад +1

      If he had not sworn at all, or if he had wanted to give the impression that he had not sworn at all, that is exactly what he would have said. The fact some of the media reported him as denying that he had sworn at all is just sensationalist, sloppy journalism. I didn't say that what Mitchell said was not directed at the officer - I agree that it was. However I _don't_ agree that the policeman's opinion of whether or not it was directed at him should be regarded as infallible, which is the impression you gave in your first comment.

      @ilikethisnamebetter 8 лет назад +3

      You are apparently not "available" to contradict the obvious truth that Mitchell implicitly acknowledged that he had sworn.

    Apparently Mitchell has had several alterations with the same police officers. Clearly we have a case where Mitchell said something he would regret, as it's not politically correct given his position, and then the police decided to use that against him even with officers testifying who were not even there.
    What we are witnessing is a shocking waste of time and resources on two parties who have had been butting heads against each other until one of them says something that can be used against them to cost them their job.
    This is our authority. How shambolic.

    Going to be funny if elon shows my social media to show I tried to warn you how the disabled people had been dying from neglect of care from the state. 130,000 from 2011 to 2017. So it's going to look bad people who covered this up. First people I went to was the last leg. If you don't think 2 billion pound spent on coreners inquest for 2000 austerity linked suicides then maybe us disabled people have become a burden and are now seen as expendable. If I come across as rude I am sorry. But if you was in fear of the state making you homeless and letting more people die I am sure you might understand my alarm. Or was Francesca wrong about those numbers on question time up in Edinburgh.
