Good instructions! When using the same color, there is no need to cut, just slip stitch to the center of the next chain 2 space.
I’ve been crocheting for a couple years but never did a project with granny squares. I was so confused as to why we needed to cut lol
Otherwise it’s a cool tutorial, my aunt wants me to make her this hat and this was the only vid where I liked how it looks

craft bestie!! i looove this tutorial but my hat is too big, i used a 5mm as well, is there somethig i can do to make it smaller?
size down to either a 4.5mm or a 4mm hook. or you can use a lighter weight/thinner yarn.

Hi! Love your tutorial. please how did you achieve your ruffles to look like that? Mine keeps looking extra and dramatic like all the regular ruffle hats, and the back of your hat you showed in the video. Did you not increase it, just normal double crochet no increases?
