  • (SUPER IMPORANT AS WELL - THIS METHOD MAY NOT WORK WITH ALL YEARS OF THIS MODEL!!!!)
Don't forget to disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery !!
No need to drop your gas tank for the 2003 Chevy Tahoe. It is true! BUT THIS IS A LONG VIDEO! I left it uncut so you can see my pain!
I had a lot of issues when compared to my other 2003 Tahoe! My other Tahoe was easy when compared to this. Crazy connections and prior replacement by a "mechanic" was poorly done.
Very entertaining. Had to struggle quite a bit for two reasons. I could not get the connections off the two gas lines at the fuel pump (had no issue with this on my other 2003 Tahoe!). Likely should have used a fuel line disconnector tool of some type but I didn't expect an issue as I didn't have one with the other Tahoe. The other Tahoe had the original factory Fuel Pump, this one had an aftermarket pump in it and the mail part of the connectors wouldn't let go easily. The other issue was that the mechanic that installed the last fuel pump, gouged up the mating surface of the lock ring ( how and why, I haven't a clue! ). I finally realized this was the cause and took a razor blade and cut off the plastic pieces that were sticking up and managed to smooth out the surface and lock the ring in place. Also the last mechanic did a lousy job of connecting the new electric connector. Had to redo this as well. If you live in the east coast, I highly recommend you order a new lock ring as well, because it will be heavily rusted. Keep your shop vacuum handy as you remove things. Try to avoid particles entering the tank. Again, I do this for entertainment purposes so do not repeat this procedure as really bad things could happen! One spark can be a disaster so use a good mechanic to handle this job for you by simply lowering the tank!
