Goth:Middle child-sister.Very graceful,poetic,dark,romantic.Has kind of an "old soul".Has a "lovers" persona. Emo:Youngest sibling-male/female twins.Sensitive/emotional(which is where the term "emo" came from)
There are a few festivals in the US. Convergence is by far the biggest. There is also the Dark Arts Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah. I've been to that one. There are a few others, but I don't remember their names off the top of my head.
Cyber-goths, leather-rgoths, vampire-goths, fantasy-goths, retro-goths, victorian-goths, apocalyptic-goths, military-goths - I love 'em all! Never leave this earth!
oh btw: amphi festivals takes place in cologne (germany), wgt (wave gotik treffen) in leipzig (germany) and m'era luna in hildesheim (SURPRISE! also germany xD) there are also some "mixed" festivals like essen originell in essen, zita rock in berlin-spandau and the walpurgis rock in bad grund (really small village), all three of them also in germany. where are you from? probably not usa, if gothic clothing is that hard to find?
I agree that goth is something that you stay forever, in heart if nothing else. I hate when people call someone a "weekend" goth or "club" goth. It's not easy being dirt poor & dressing the way that feels natural or partaking of conversation or interests that u love @ the workplace. You can't have pretty hair & clothes & work anywhere... you do what you have 2 in order to keep a roof over your head & food on your table.
@RavenzInWonderland yeh! I went to mera luna for my first time last year too, god it was amazing! saw all my fav bands, came from australia and was very lucky to get backstage pass! :) might go again next year depending on lineup...

The closest thing we have on the east coast to a gothic festival or is the BDSM fetish nights scattered throughout the coast. purgatory was a big one but that ended so now it's just having to know the right people in the underground to know where the next event is:( I watched this and said out loud ,"Man, I want to go to a goth festival. That would be epic. Wish there was one near here. I;m in NC
i dont know what it is like to be a goth but i attend a number of events monthly and well i wonder what these people are like in real life and whether they have normal jobs and all. i personally dont have the guts to dress up like they do make-up, high platforms and latex outfits im too self-conscious to do it LOL. i admire them and it is true they dont have to look like that every day maybe with teens who have nothing to do but other than that i like the scene and the music.
@orangepulp13 well i don't claim myself to be a Goth, but i have friends they r and wat i can tell u from what i read / experience etc , being Goth is not a PHASE , so like u said , its more of a permanent thing , Goths / other ppl called it subculture but i also thinks being a Goth is a lifestyle

well nice clothing is quite easy to find like on x-tra-x.de or darkages.de but if you wish to go to some festivals, probably meet other goths, go to a gothic disco or party, see goth bands in concert or anything like this, there is probably only one way: emigrate to germany and no, i don't think i'm gonna kill you for this questions ;)
@Casshern1100 are they dark? because the only thing i see when im looking a goth its just a person with black clothes who likes different type of music... i think theres no difference between "normal" people and goth people... (i dont want to make anyone angry this is just my opinion... enlighten me if im wrong)
See what I don't get is why people talk about the "scene" dying off.....sure not everyone goes around dressed to the nines but being goth Dosnt mean you always have to look like that.....it's a state of mind
@31312313131 Goth doesn't have to be expensive :) D.I.Y, charity shops, etc etc. Goth shops online aren't that expensive anyway :) Unless your going for the Victorian thing, then it might be a bit expensive.

Taco Bell isn't a real job in my book lol. actually there are a lot of jobs where appearance doesn't matter. Mostly working with computers like working at Apple or Google. A lot of jobs in graphic design too. There are plenty of jobs where you don't have to be suit and tie. and that pay a lot too. Also education is another jobs. I've had teachers with plenty of tattoos.
I want to go to this magical place.

Legendary Pink Dots are the grandfathers of goth, imo. Beyond image and style, instead delving into the psyche of being an outcast and beyond.

Goths are just like you and me,we have normal jobs and fairly similar lives,we just have VERY different tastes

Goth festivals are really cool, its a great place to be yourself without people throwing crosses at you. Also you don't feel so unique nor alone.
