Real estate prices in the Seattle area are through the roof over the past few years, at this point they would have to either build it way out in the sticks or spend tons of money just to get the land.
I live in Seattle and was a season pass owner from 2012 to 2016. I stopped getting a season pass because I was tired of going to an amusement park that seems to never change and frankly gets worse almost year by year. There has been no new rollercoaster since 2004 and no real rides since Brain Drain in 2016. The park is very neglected which is shame because it is the only real park outside of the Puyallup Fair in the Seattle area. Literally two coasters could change this place dramatically and they don't even have to be good. For example a Vekoma Suspended Family Coaster and GravityKraft junior coaster could literally double attendance but the owner never want to put any money into the park. Your face at the end describes how I have felt for the past 5 years about the park. Great vlog and commentary. You hit it on the nail with this place.
Part of me wonders how parks like this one and Alabama Adventure even stay in business sometimes. The pandemic has certainly hurt the industry, but the fact that some of these lesser-known smaller parks are still somewhat kicking after nearly a year and a half of the pandemic (which is becoming somewhat of a joke now) amazes me.
As a Seattle native, this is an easy question to answer - this is the only non-fair amusement park anywhere close to the Seattle metropolitan area. It's about a 30 minute drive from downtown Seattle. For reference, Silverwood is a 6+ hour drive. Since Wild Waves has no competition, they have little incentive to make big investments to improve the park. And most people are primarily there for the water park anyway, which is a decent but fairly typical water park (more than good enough on a warm day!). While it sucks that Timberhawk wasn't open, it's a pretty lame ride. The classic wooden coaster at the Washington State Fair is a much better ride, but that fair is only open a few weeks out of the year.
The Northwest's main attraction is it's outdoor activities; hiking, camping, water specific activities, things like that. I was just at the park a couple days ago and the main coasters were running. It just depends on the time you go and also taking into account that COVID is happening.
Hellcat was also the name of the Dells S&S before it was torn down, Avalanche was it’s original name. The S&S woodie in Clementon still stands as well.
@@Fapperman84 It does, though pretty beat up. I can see it getting a good restoration job though, and I believe it's under the ownership that indiana beach now is. Hopefully funds won't be spread too thin and it works out well. Another coaster and more rides, but fixing Hellcat first would really help-it'd be a good candidate for GCI or GG to add an inversion, new trains, etc. I'd rather not say RMC solely because a basic raptor would make more sense, and it'd be a downgrade if RMCed then a total restoration to me. A shame 2 out of 3 NJ wooden coasters are taken care of poorly, aside from great white in wildwood which is usually pretty great maybe getting better soon.
As of this past Sunday, Timberhawk was back open. It's a decent ride, nothing to write home about. But yeah, having their only standout attraction closed on your visit could not have done the park any favors.
Grew up going to the water park every Summer. Six Flags owned Wild Waves for a very short time, then walked away. You were correct to call it a shell of a park.
Went here in 2014. So sad to see it in such a lonely and depressing state, compared to then, when they still had the ring of fire, food trucks, ice cream shops, fully operational rides and lots of excited guests. That was nearly a decade ago, and the park looks like it hasn’t gone through any refurbishment...
Love seeing your park visits. I was just at my home park (Worlds of Fun) over Labor Day weekend. It was a great visit and the only Coaster that wasn't running was Spinning Dragons which was ok with me. I do wish that they would RMC the Timber Wolf coaster though because it's a great layout, but it will knock the fillings out of your teeth. I rode Patriot 1st, TimberWolf 2nd, Mamba 3rd, Boomerang 4th and finally Prowler. I love Prowler because it makes you feel like you are flying close to the ground and the way it hops and switches directions quickly make it a great ride.
As a (reluctant) Wild Waves season pass holder, I really wish someone would buy this park and actually invest some money into it. Six Flags owned it for a few years and actually added a number of rides (most notably the Disko) but divested it when they went bankrupt. The whole theme park side is crumbling, but on the times we went this summer the water park side was packed most days, which I assume is the main thing keeping them going. That said, the Kang A Bounce is surprisingly fun for a flat ride. I'm sure you can find those in other parks though.
I went to wild waves a few days back, Timberhawk was open and I rode it. I skipped out on the one with loops. And Axe, Log and that ride that's been down since 2017 we're all closed. The log ride was drained, it honestly felt kinda creepy. No one was up there except for one employee.
@@zanewebb2665 I've actually heard it was one of the best woodies in the midwest due to its fast pacing, but the roughness apparently was too much so idk.
at 6:07 Tyler got the fact wrong. 3/4 of the wooden S&S coasters have been in the US, of which 2 are operating, and those are Timberhawk (This one) and Hell Cat @ Clementon Park. The Wis Dells ride that Tyler had stated was known as Avalanche, which operated at Timber Falls Adventure Park until it's removal in 2018.

Hi Taylor Wild thing is exactly the same layout what we have in New Zealand we call it the corkscrew at rainbows end. One time I was sitting in front row and the staff member never lock the restraint we lifted the over head restraint all the way up they didn't stop the Costa until it got to the top of the chain lift Hill then a staff member came up & locked it.
The conveyer belt on the side of the hill is probably a “Magic carpet” and the hill is likely used as a sled hill. I haven’t been there but there is stuff like that where I live
I went to Wild Waves maybe 5 or 6 times from around 2005-2013, it was never an incredible park but it kind of seems to have gotten actively worse. same thing with Playland in Vancouver. not only have rides been removed but there’s basically been no new additions. with all 4 coasters running plus some of the removed attractions like the Rainbow, midway open, etc. it was usually a good time. the water park is pretty solid too
Wild thing makes me sad, it was originally at what wouldve been my home park (rocky point in RI) and wouldve been likely my first inverting coaster had i been 10 or so years older. The park closed a year or two before i was born 😩 so disappointing
I live close to this park but have never been, just because none of the rides appear to be great. It's a bummer that us PNWers really only have Silverwood as a great park in the entire region

I thought, hey at least a small theme park is close by. Got season tickets and got bored really fast. I'd go just to get a fun thrill on Timberhawk, Chill in the hot tub, then go home. Really made me miss being a few hours away from quite a few really good parks.
It’s very smooth, actually. It does run more like a family coaster, though. Night rides speed up a lot though and it gives some solid airtime in the December and October months
That’s so funny, i follow your channel and always wondered if you come to the northwest. I worked at Wildwaves 10 years ago, the hill was a dry tubing hill (downhill tubin) opened the same year as the zip line I believe 2010. The wild mouse is pretty off and on, the park has definitely gone down hill, hope they improve it and keep making content man!!! Lol PS Seattle needs a good theme park besides silver wood up here.
Strange, I thought this place had been taken by six flags, like not with the name everywhere but partially under ownership. Last time I heard they gave 2 circulations on the arrow looper all the time too. It's a shame when it looked like it was getting restored it has closed stuff all over and things taken out. Reminds me of the Atlantic City Boardwalk just a lot more tolerable (that place pretends to seem restored/nice while rides seem like they can't even get enough power and too many are closed, a total dump basically).
I visited family in the seattle area and went here around 2006 or 2007 I want to say. It was fun but definitely seemed pretty empty outside of the waterpark stuff
It’s so weird seeing these videos, because I’ve been to these parks a lot. Last time I went was in 2019 and everything was open besides the log flume and the wild mouse. I went on the Timberhawk about 5 times because nobody was in line Edit: I remember the ring of fire from a while ago, it was popular so I don’t know why they removed it
I live about a half hour from there. The timberhawk definitely is the main attraction. I am used to amusement parks like cedar point and kings island. You are totally right! The park is lame. They removed so many rides…that park will definitely go under.
I went to Washington and Oregon for vacation which were that last states of my 50 state quest. I went to Wild Waves on August 17 2021 and Timberhawk was open. I rode on it twice and the second time it got delayed for 20 min for maintenance or something while I was in line . I rode in front row and its a good coaster. Its really rough which I'm assuming that could be the cause of it breaking down all the time. the log aka boat ride was closed that day. The park feels Half Abandoned as there's several lots of land that could be used to put another coaster there. On wiki most of there rides closed in 2020 due to Covid which makes it look abandoned.
I bought a season pass to this park for the 2022 season and regret it!! Timber Hawk has been closed the last two weeks as have most of the rides. Lumberjack Falls and the Timber Axe were also closed! This just makes the lines for what few rides that are open insanely long. I’ve stayed less than two hours both times I’ve gone and at this point I have no desire to renew my season pass. Wild Waves is way overpriced for a park where half the attractions aren’t operating. Also, the maximum weight for ALL the water slides is 250 and I’m 255, so the dry attractions are the only ones I can do, but most of them are closed. This park is so poorly managed!
Timber hawk is one forceless woody that I have ever ridden. I was stationed up in Bremerton so I brought a big group of sailors out there and the best ride was the axe flat ride.
Wild Waves, like most theme parks, employs children, even as ride operators and lifeguards. One of their lifeguards let a man die right in front of him. The wrongful death suit was expensive.
@@maxladue993 Divide a wrongful death payout, and the resulting increased insurance premiums, by the number of employees in safety-critical positions, and I'm pretty sure they could be paid more.
I'm embarrassed that this dumpster fire of a themepark is my local park. So much potential being wasted. We went a few weeks ago and they only had 4-5 rides open. Pretty sad for the price if you arent doing the waterpark.
Agreed. I hate this park but it’s all we have, sadly. I’ll take a ride on Timberhawk when I can get one. It’s rough but I still enjoy myself on it. Hopefully the manager of this park sees this video and makes some changes. Wild Waves is pathetic (waterpark section is halfway decent…ish)
@@fighterXmusic Hate to say it but the owners dont care, for them its just money and they dont give a care in the world about the park's potential or reputation or physical appeance. Its sad but its true :(
Sadly this is my least favorite amusement park. It mostly consisted of kids rides so I didn't feel like there was much to do and the Klondike Goldrush coaster was closed. The waterpark was great though and Timberhawk is one of my favorite wooden roller coasters but I am not sure if that's enough for me to want to go back.
Taylor, are you going to Vancouver to ride the wooden coaster at playland or is it impossible due to Covid? Edit: Also what has been your favorite ride on this north east trip?
Wild Waves is a very lackluster park and is only about 30 minutes away from where I live and it is honestly way more worth it just to drive 4 hours and go to Silverwood. Wild Thing is pretty average, the Wild Mouse is a Wild Mouse and even at its peak business Wild Waves is still a pretty empty park and you're never waiting more than 30 minutes for anything. Timberhawk is one of the most boring wooden coasters that I have ridden and you really did not miss much, I know it's a nice credit because of its rarity but it's really nothing worth writing anything about.
This park is crap now they have no employees to run any of the rides and the maintenance staff is not great at keeping the rides running. One of the worst ran parks in the country now. It was great when I worked there for a few years and when six flags owned it was when the park flourished the most. They need new management to run the park it’s sad to see it start going into a spot where it might just go away all together
What is going on with a lot of rides being closed at amusement parks this year? Also what's with all the accidents this year with the rides seems like more than ever? What the heck is going on in the amusement park industry? Ridicules!
all amusement parks don’t have enough staff to operate all the rides. also when rollercoasters that have been sitting for a year finally start up again, problems are bound to happen. rollercoasters need to constantly be moving
Coaster enthusiasts enjoy getting the most credits as possible even if the ride or park isn't good. I personally only want to get the most good to great credits but that's just me

I think that conveyer belt thing is for mountain tubing
Strange, I thought this place had been taken by six flags, like not with the name everywhere but partially under ownership. Last time I heard they gave 2 circulations on the arrow looper all the time too. It's a shame when it looked like it was getting restored it has closed stuff all over and things taken out. Reminds me of the Atlantic City Boardwalk just a lot more tolerable (that place pretends to seem restored/nice while rides seem like they can't even get enough power and too many are closed, a total dump basically).
I was at Knotts today, it was empty but all the good rides were closed
you should come back its been good this year
Sad lil Park, thanks for going, now we never have to 😂🤷♂️
I visited family in the seattle area and went here around 2006 or 2007 I want to say. It was fun but definitely seemed pretty empty outside of the waterpark stuff
It’s so weird seeing these videos, because I’ve been to these parks a lot. Last time I went was in 2019 and everything was open besides the log flume and the wild mouse. I went on the Timberhawk about 5 times because nobody was in line
Edit: I remember the ring of fire from a while ago, it was popular so I don’t know why they removed it
Ikr they destroyed it with a excavator I have a vid of it :
@@bigburgerboi2005 wow, do you know why? It was a fine ride and it didn’t take up much space
@@animatroniccrazy5460 unfortunately I do not, maybe a motor or vital failure?
Wild Mouse since the late 2010s: "tHiS aTtRaCtIoN iS tEmPoRaRiLy ClOsEd"
It’s so odd seeing what’s left of a Larson Super Loop
Didn't you visit Great Escape too?
Yes
Taylor, when are the re-reviews coming back? You were doing them before. Bring them back!
They’ll be back soon I promise!
I was here in July and they had every waterslide open, but 4 thrill rides open, not including timberhawk
3:30 so dose diamond back at frontier city it sucks that they have to do that
I’ve been to wild waves, not very good… mostly known for its water slides
Ah yes, the amusement park that I want to rename Mud World because of Mud Lake right next door.
Timber hawk is one forceless woody that I have ever ridden. I was stationed up in Bremerton so I brought a big group of sailors out there and the best ride was the axe flat ride.
Fun fact, as of posting this comment, this video has not been published long enough for anyone just on RUclips to have watched it all the way through
as of posting this comment the video has now finished for those on 2x speed
And now the video has finished for me
As of posting this comment, nobody cares
@@JulianDale94 You are indeed correct
@@VarietyEntertainmentStudios eyy fun seeing you here!
Oh well It's sad that all of the rides at Wild Waves Theme Park didn't open. But at least you did had a very good time though.
Wild Waves, like most theme parks, employs children, even as ride operators and lifeguards. One of their lifeguards let a man die right in front of him. The wrongful death suit was expensive.
i meen what grown adult is gonna do it for $10 an hour
@@maxladue993 Divide a wrongful death payout, and the resulting increased insurance premiums, by the number of employees in safety-critical positions, and I'm pretty sure they could be paid more.
@@riparianlife97701 unfortunatly ceos can be ruthless
@@maxladue993 It's funny. You wouldn't let a 16-year-old kid operate any other public transportation vehicle, but a roller coaster? No problem.
Its sad but its true :(
Didn't even know this park existed.
Yeah it’s gone down hill the last 5-10 years it was great when six flags owned it and now it’s just collapsing
Blame the cheapskate owners that only care about money and no maintenance or new things!
I went to wild waves one time but it was 110 degrees outside so I stayed in the waterpark
Timberhawk is easily the best part of the park, lame it was down for you
Sadly this is my least favorite amusement park. It mostly consisted of kids rides so I didn't feel like there was much to do and the Klondike Goldrush coaster was closed. The waterpark was great though and Timberhawk is one of my favorite wooden roller coasters but I am not sure if that's enough for me to want to go back.
3:59 A 4D Freespin could be built there if Six Flags regains the operating rights to this park
This was my home park growing up. It’s depressing. It’s really that terrible.
My home park
Also, this is my home park and I'm definitely NOT proud of that. The Seattle area should get the next major park in the country
Taylor, are you going to Vancouver to ride the wooden coaster at playland or is it impossible due to Covid?
Edit: Also what has been your favorite ride on this north east trip?
just a FYI for anyone going to Vancouver to ride Coaster: it’s closed for the remainder of the year
@@TRDrums dang that sucks, thanks though
The parks reminds me of keansburg asmusement park in NJ,and do no go there. P
This park was in its prime around 99
You forgot the S&S woodie Hellcat at Clementon!
I'm down the street from you...just go to the puyallup fair (Washington state fair) wild waves is a dump
This park is crap now they have no employees to run any of the rides and the maintenance staff is not great at keeping the rides running. One of the worst ran parks in the country now. It was great when I worked there for a few years and when six flags owned it was when the park flourished the most. They need new management to run the park it’s sad to see it start going into a spot where it might just go away all together
blame the owners they only care about they money!
This park hasn't changed since I went there a decade ago, it's kind of ridiculous
I went there in the summer in 2021
“That’s kinda creepy…”
Pretty much like Cedar Point this summer. Charge you full price at the gate, only to realize half the park is shut down once you get in.
Day 4 of asking Taylor to rank fav night rides
What is going on with a lot of rides being closed at amusement parks this year? Also what's with all the accidents this year with the rides seems like more than ever? What the heck is going on in the amusement park industry? Ridicules!
all amusement parks don’t have enough staff to operate all the rides. also when rollercoasters that have been sitting for a year finally start up again, problems are bound to happen. rollercoasters need to constantly
be moving
@@MaryLab2930 yeah I heard about the staffing issues hopefully they can hire more people for 2022
Why would you even go there? Unless you didn't have the credits there is no reason for anyone to go to Wild Waves.
Coaster enthusiasts enjoy getting the most credits as possible even if the ride or park isn't good. I personally only want to get the most good to great credits but that's just me
Definitely was an interesting visit for all the wrong reasons
