Issues might not be really apparent till later in life. Sleep is your bodies only time to drain neurotoxin buildup in your brain via your spine, if you don't sleep you arent able to properly detox yourself. Lack of sleep is often linked to alzheimer's as well.
My job has messed up my sleeping patterns. I used to do over nights but started doing 4 am starts instead. Now I get around 5 - 6 hours sleep a night and even on days off I can't sleep for longer than 6 hours.

Why do we sleep? In reality we can’t really ever know completely. There are some theories that have some merit though. One is that it gives time for your body and mind to be repaired, and for your brain to process information. The other main one is that it keeps you quiet and helps you hide from predators in the night (hence why people who are paralysed still need sleep). Though there are some correlations between lack of sleep and alzheimers.
to be fair to ironmouse, black pudding would probably be a rare enough thing in the Caribbean so would be incorrectly cooked, or have too much spice in it, and taste horrible
There's balut in Vietnam. Just don't know what it's called. And the presentation of their balut is more decent. Because balut is a street food and yet, its a delicacy.
Sleep is necessary because prolonged time without sleep causes chemical imbalances in the brain and body. These imbalances cause hallucinations, lowering of cognitive ability, and in extreme cases damage to internal organs and potentially death.
