shampoo making starts at 1:51
OMG.....THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Thank you.
Thank you for posting this. I was so happy to find it. I just made mine yesterday and used it for the first time today. I really do love it. This is definitely my new shampoo now. My hair feels soft and in great shape.
And it smells amazing!. I made mine with the water and jojoba oil. I doubled the recipe and added in 20 drops of Ylang Ylang EO, and 10 of Lime. Together, I LOVE the smell of my new perfume. And it worked great as well.
Thank you again for this.
Thank you so much for sharing!! That sounds like a wonderful combo! I am glad you are loving it!
Do you have a update on doing this? Been thinking about making the switch!
Watch the video first
¼ cup of Castile soap
¼ cup of water
½ teaspoon of coconut or jojoba oil (optional if greasy hair)
15 to 20 drops of essential oils in total
Replace water for coconut milk if want a creamer mixture
How long does it last?
@@dianaganduli1305 how ever long u want it to.
@@esthermanzo5144 i think the question is the shelf life? coconut milk must go rancid?
@@dianaganduli1305 Coconut milk: abt a month
Her essential oils that she used are Peppermint, Thyme, Lavender and Rosemary to thicken lengthen hair and for hair loss.
Can’t wait to try this, thanks! It not only gets rid of chemicals but it cuts down on using plastic!
Yes that too!
To reduce waste further, I replaced liquid soap with soap bar. I cut soap into small fragments and melt them into boiling water. Soap bar doesn't come with plastic bottle and it is lighter which means taking less energy to transport.
Is still being transported long distances....
@@cecilitaH doesn't it come in large plastic clam shells?
@@faith7641 that I don't know
Save lard from cooking, mix with water and lye make your own bar soap😃 every little bit and helps as you implied
😂
Patchouli oil is also great for less hair fall out and dandruff💪🏼 🌻🌱
Thanks for the tip!
I know I'm late here but incase others like me come and see this, I'm going to try it with rice water, since it's free for me instead of coconut milk.
How did it work for you? Did the rice water turn out well?
I too wish to know how it turned out
Very interesting, the reason I believe people have oily or dry hair is sodium Laura sulphate it is an irritant. It can either dry your scalp out or cause you to produce to much sebum. Also after reading comments there is a difference between oily hair and dirty hair. I go to the gym every day. After the gym I shower and use the water and scrub my hair and scalp to remove the sweet and dirt. I don’t use shampoo as there is no need as long as I shower straight after. I only shampoo my hair twice a week to remove, the dirt and oil that is not needed. 😃
People with oily scalps need to wash their hair often. An oily scalp is caused by over-reactive sebaceous glands on the scalp. The oil attracts dirt more easily and the sebum glands clog the hair roots and may cause excessive hair loss and dandruff. The biggest cause of an oily scalp is hormones, usually has nothing to do with products they are using. I have extremely oily hair and at 43 it has no signs of stopping, mine is hormonal, caused by PCOS. People have always tried to tell me it is caused by my daily washing but working in dermatology for 12 years, the doctors have all assured me it has nothing to do with products I am using nor washing every day. I actually develop clogged pores and sores on my scalp if I skip more than one day.
Essential Oils can be literally used for anything! Thank you for the idea
Yes they can! You're welcome!
Except eye drops.
Thank you for your ebook to get started making my own safe products ..
Gonna try this, i havent been able to find anything homemade yet for my hair. I have thick long hair(over 3 1/2 foot long) so ill give it a try. Thanks
Oh wow that is a lot of hair to wash!! It def takes time to get use to it. I noticed that the less I wash it the better.
i really want to go plastic free and i think this is very useful!thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you so much I’ve been wanting to go to a natural shampoo and start my daughter on one once she get a little older I’ve been using the baby wash you or your sister made I can’t remember who posted it but I love that I’m putting a safe product on my baby girl
Aww yes that is great!! I posted that a few weeks ago but she may have a similar recipe on her blog. We both make baby soap!
My hair has been falling out for years since I was 22. And it significantly thinned. Im ready to try natural shampoos
1/2 tsp Carrier oil
15-20 drops essential oil
1/4 Cup Castile soap
1/4 Cup Water
Thank you
Hi ! Can you tell me where I get Castille soap?

I would love to see a water based all natural beard wash to make at home 😊
Honestly you should have more views!! ❤
Thank you!!!
My mum loves dottera essential oils . She has a whold wardrbe of them!
Isn’t that an MLM?
❓Question!
I'm having a hard time rinsing the soap out of my hair. I have hard water. Not sure if that's the issue but I'm really struggling to get all the liquid Castile soap off of the length of my hair. I do use an apple cider vinegar rinse once I (think) I get the soap out.
Hi, I want to make this shampoo but I was wondering if you know the ph? Thank you
I use 10 portion of water and 1 portion of apple cider vinegar as conditioner to balance out ph
You can always measure the ph with some litmus paper (ph paper). You can find them at any major supermarket, pharmacy, or even a pet store.
ph strips dont tell an exact measurement, but can give a close estimation of how acidic or basic a solution is. For down to the decimal measurement, you can get a lab ph meter but they can be expensive and constantly need recalibration and maintenance.
@@angelinal.6307 do you rinse it after?
Your hair looks nice, straight and shiny! 😍
Thank you!
So do you only use this to wash your hair, or do you also have some sort of conditioner recipe too?
I have a conditioner recipe too! ruclips.net/video/-mtlruius5Q/видео.html
My question is, with the addition of water, will that go bad since water harbors bacteria?
Thanks for a great video! What's the reason for adding water? If I want it creamier, can't I just skip the water and just get the creamy consistency of the soap?
if i wanted to use herbs with the shampoo how would you do that. I have rosemary and lavender in my garden.
I love your channel; I will be trying this tonight. Thank you so much.
Vegetable Glycerin making that foaming a lot of shampoos have that ingredient in their shampoo it’s good for hair too
where to find vegetable glycerin?
Hi! Thank you for the video. I would like to try this recipe, but I have a question. Why had not you diluted the essential oils in fractionated coconut prior to adding them to the mixture?
You can do it that way if you prefer!
I made this and used it for the first time. It was great. I am going to use it again but notice that the oil part is sitting above the water. Is that fine? As long as I stir it again before applying, it should be fine right?
I'm so glad you like it! You can shake it before each use.
@@ouroilyhouse Thank you
@@ouroilyhouse Hello, what is the shelf life for this shampoo? My scalp is getting irritated
Im trying to get ideas for all natural shampoo and conditioner, as i have recently developed a bad eczema problem. Thank you for sharing this.
You're so welcome!
I made it and it is working great on my hair and my fiance says my hair smells great as well
Yay I am so glad!
I'm looking for a recipe for a residue-free shampoo (truly residue-free, not just in the name). And interestingly, it's hard to find. I suspect that not enough people need such shampoo (or, more likely - a lot of people need it, but they just aren't aware of it, and/or they don't know that the reason why their hair are in bad shape is because of the residue that virtually every shampoo on the market leaves).
Well, I guess I'll have to wait when "residue-free" will become a popular key word...
love this! I'm wondering what the shelf life of this is since it is water based?
One month
I keep mine in the fridge and i have it in an amber bottle pump. When using i take out fee hours before hair wash and have it in the warm shower this will make it warm and the oils will not be floating
@nannat4510i have heard people putting distilled water for longer shelf life.
I have mine in amber bottle as well due to the essential oils.
Thank you guys!
This isnt going to leave my hair feeling hard and brittle is it? I need a moisturizing shampoo. Castile soap alone does that.
It doesn't to mine. You can follow up with conditioner to add moisture. I have a recipe for that too.
I love this video & your homemade conditioner video!!! I am transitioning into making more homemade products, as well as becoming more eco-friendly! :)
If I wanted to use the coconut milk instead of water for the creamier consistency, how long will that shampoo mixture last for? A month as well? Or shorter?
Thanks for making these great videos!
Shorter with coconut milk, unless you store in fridge.
@@ouroilyhouse thanks so much again for these recipes! I cannot wait to try!
How long can I store it using coconut milk? Should I store it in a fridge?
Hi, for how long will it stay without preservatives? or should i add few for long term usage? Will be good for oily straight hair too?
3 months
Can you use carbonate of soda instead of Castile soap?
Or what would a shampoo need if I didn’t want the foamy consistency?
Thank you!
Morning Laura have just made this see what you mean by training your hair it's bit heavy feeling have made dry shampoo also should I wash my hair several times a week for my hair to get use to this formu!a quicker. Have made all your products and have had great success enjoy your channel very much thank you for the face moisturiser .wondered if you could come up with cleansing water as i don't use soap on my face like a miscellar water. Also sorry lot to say with the laundry detergent the soap added is quite expensive could you by the melt and pour bar and make your own soap using essential oils to add thank you again x
Washing it more will produce more oils so I wouldn't do that. I have a few face wash recipes on here you can check out! Also, you can get the fels naptha soap bar for less than 2 dollars at wal mart.
Hello it’s my first time with this shampoo. My hair is dry. I put some oil after, but it looks nice. Do you think is because is my first time? Or maybe put more water? When should I wash again? Thanks
Hello from our farm in New Hampshire. New subscriber to your channel. I saw one of your videos on making a face cream. I would like to use feverfew oil. Can you recommend the amount to use in a 6oz jar? I ordered shea butter, but I would also consider just adding the feverfew oil to an ready made face cream. It helps to reduce redness. Thank you. Looking forward to following your channel. ~ Diane
Thanks!! You can use any carrier oil.
What is the difference between regular coconut oil and fractionated coconut oil please? Can we use the regular coconut oil instead?
Fractioned coconut oil stays liquid, where as regular will turn solid over 76 degrees. So it is best to use FCO so it doesn't get clumpy.
Your baby is sooooooo cute . My mum has that along when she had my youngest sister .
Thank you!
Your welcome
By the way I meant my mum has that sling
Hi! Love your work, so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Can I use the melt & pour glycerin soap instead of Castile soap in this recipe? I thought I’d make coconut milk at home and then freeze the mixture to use as a shampoo bar. Can I get your advice please?
I have a shampoo bar in the making, stay tune!

Hi really enjoyed video on your simple shampoo. Thank you. Do you know how to make a simple liquid conditioner?
Castile soap usually contains coconut oil. Do you have a substitute for Castile soap? Thank you
You are doing a great job, less wastage,by following these recipes one can cut down on plastic usage. Thanks a lot. Keep up your work.
Hello!! I love this video and I’m glad I found it because I have been thinking of making my own shampoo!! My only question is this: I wash my hair once a week because my hair is prone to get oily. Hack even as bad as hug clumps of oil around the roots!! If I put any of the oils in this mixture, would that make my hair more oily?? That’s the only thing I’m worry about 😅 anyway, awesome job!! thanks for the video, you get a new subscriber💕
Thank you fro subscribing!! I don't find essential oils to make my hair more oily, in fact some can help with that! You can make it without them too if you want and add them later.
Awesome! I really enjoy your channel, thanks for sharing all this info. I have been wanting to make my own shampoo and conditioner for a while ❤ God bless you ❤❤
I need to do this because my hair gets greasy easily and I can never find the right type of shampoo to use so I will try this
If i use coconut milk to replace the water. Does it have to stay in fhe refrigerator? If not, how long can it stay in the bathroom before going bad?
So I have oily hair and very fine hair. So I would not use that Castile oil?
Awww your baby is so cute!!!
Thank you so much!
Can I use tea tree oil in addition to the oils you mentioned in this recipe? I have dry itchy scalp at the moment and some dandruff.
Yes, absolutely
Our Oily House Thanks so much for responding so quickly! New subscriber, love your channel!
How long does the one with coconut milk last? Because coconut milk goes bad a lot faster than shampoo.
coconut oil, not milk - you want fractionated coconut oil not the cooking kind
Dooley H yes I know the difference between FCO but she mentioned coconut milk in the end to make it more creamy.
Montserrat Elechiguerra Chávez you could store it in your refrigerator 🤷🏻♂️
@@bennyboiart7781 i could but honestly with the way my head works I would never EVER remember to take it out and back whenever needed.
I have been using Calia shampoo and conditioner, which is an all-natural and natural shampoo and conditioner are all I can use on my hair. I can't use drug-store shampoos or conditioners at all.
I can never wash my hair only twice a week I live on a tropical island and it’s literally 34 degree celsius every day, add that to super high humidity levels and you get stinky hair by the end of the day
Ohh that sounds dreamy though!
Our Oily House honestly sometimes it can get really tiring because you can just be going out to buy lunch from a place that’s literally across the street during the afternoon. By the time you get your food you’ll get sooo sweaty and gross that you’ll have to take a shower.
Can I use castor oil instead of jojoba oil?
What do you store the shampoo and conditioner in after it's made? My experience with essential oils in the past has been that you can't put essential oils in plastic. It will eat it.
I use glass or metal for all my oily DIY's
@@ouroilyhouse Ok. Thank you!
Sounds good. Do u have a conditioner/detangler? Because my hair will not survive this without it...lol. Thanks.
Yes I have recipes for both!

Great video but you mentioned that this recipe might take a while for our hair to get used to, would hair shedding be one of the symptoms of transitioning since Castillo soap tends to be a bit alkaline????
It is just so different than regular shampoo my hair took a while to adjust to natural shampoo. Now it is great!
Thank you for sharing this. How could I make a big batch? Say for a month or a year. How much do I have to use then?
It only last one month.

I'm growing my natural silver hair and looking for a natural shampoo which effects like purple shampoo. Can you give me a little advice? Thanks
Is it okay to use the lavender scented Castile soap? Or does it have to be unscented?
Yes that is fine!
How long can I keep this mix for usage??
Wow really good and very easy to make thanks a lot for this video
Glad you like it!!
Laura.
For some reason my hair has a weird ruff layer on it after i wash it every time i skipped the oil because i have oily hair. I only put essential oils.
It feels like durty wet hair
How long did it take for your hair to adjust to this recipe?
About a month when I switched to natural products. I used a lot of dry shampoo during the transition.
If you use coconut milk does it need refrigerated? How long would it last?
Very good,thanks for this.
Thank you too!
My hair is very dry do you recommend other ingredients? And how to preserver it against mold and bacterias need anything else to add please?
If we add the coconut milk store it in room temperature or fridge please reply
Fridge for longer shelf life
Laura,
Do you fill the rest of the bottle with water? If not, how long does that amount last you?
can you make without the essential oils?and what would be a good preservative to use
Yes you can use the same recipe and just omit the essential oils if you wish.
A good way to add some preserving benefits you could use vitamin E oil in place or part of the coconut oil. However it's not going to store much longer than a month or two. You could always half the recipe if you don't think you'll use this amount in a month or two.
Andee T thank you 😊
Hi! I’m just seeing this and surprisingly this is the same recipe I use for my foaming hand soap except for less essential oil’s added in lol.
So my question is that I have super dry hair and only wash every 2-3 days. Do you happen to have a conditioner recipe?? I need conditioner otherwise I can’t brush through my hair 😢.

can i use almond oil or other oil? how much is the volume of the shampoo u will get with this recipe? how long is the life span?
