Thanks for a great video. We got a Mk2 Yaris last October and the only thing about it we didn't like was the boot wouldn't lock/unlock with the central locking. We weren't sure it was supposed to until seeing your video.
I opened up the old one carefully using a Stanley knife to persuade the cover off. The little electric motor was extremely rusty. I did try clean it up but still could't get it to work so got a second hand replacement for £15 and it's fixed thanks!

Don't throw the old lock away, you might be able to repair it and stick it in your 'stash' of spare parts you'll never use again!😀

My 02 Yaris the back brake keeps seizing up I keep freeing it up and took the back hub off and spraying WD-40 in it but it's only ok for a week then it makes the back right wheel go very tight again the engine can't pull the car because the one back brake keeps tightening do you think I need a back break hub

Yes your rear drums need to be looked at... probably seized or shoes worn. Please change as it's not safe like this

After this can you open up door by using a key?

No - I decided against changing the barrel (it seized) as it would've meant another key, but in short the barrel also needed changing to fully complete this. I Prioritised getting the actuator to work so that I could lock the boot and due to age of car happy to live with barrel like that.

Awesome, thank you for your help 🙏 & good question
@sutsi, I am wondering if you have a clip on your channel to see that vid that you are mentioning in this reply? If you changed the barrel?
Would you be able to link it please? 🙏😊
I am not sure if it will suffice for me to only exchange the white lock system.
      Thanks mate 👌

So it only sufficed that you changed the white lock part, as you did in this video, for it to work properly?
I'm asking because I have the same problem, but I only think it's the white part that is the problem.
I'm just trying to understand what parts I need.
I can't open the trunk with the automatic lock key, or the analogue way to open the trunk with the real car key inserted into the trunk key opening.
My trunk started to malfunction when the batteries on the automatic car key started to go low.
I tried inserting the analogue car key the manual analogue way.
After that I messed it up and couldn't open the trunk either way.
The shite car owners before me had put a string on some part of the lock instead of repairing it.
So I don't know how they saved it with a string of line to make it work.
      Anyways.
I think I will try with changing the white part first, as you did here in this video.
If it doesn't work, I might need to change the other trunk lovk/barrel.
      Thank you 🙏

I wish I find a vid where I see how the panel is removed... The lock is an easy fix compare to this fragile piece of plastic!

    • @sutsi
      @sutsi  6 дней назад

@@roundaround2448 the panel is fitted with those plastic tabs/plug screws...you just pull those out and the panel comes off
