THANK YOU for showcasing how fun carpet track can be. Hopefully this video inspires a whole new generation of racers to come out and play. Its so much fun!!!
Kev I've been a fan of yours for over 5 years, I also got my first hobby grade rc car when I was 10. On my 10th birthday my dad bought me a traxxas bandit and it was such a blast. About 2 years later I got a brushless setup for it with a 3s lipo and I managed to get 70 mph which was alot for the time. The feeling of driving that car was unbelievable and ever since then I've been hooked on rc cars and now I have over 10 cars in my collection. Thank you so much for all the content you've put out not just for me but for all the amazing people that support and watch your videos, keep doing what you do. You dont know how much you've tought me about the hobby but all I can say is that you've taught me everything I know. Again kev, thank you so much for the videos, happiness and joy you've given me throughout the years. To many more videos and knowledge, i say cheers!🤘🏻
I'm 3 yrs older than you Kevin and I remember the prices being insane to have an RC car that moved with any speed, now I have the JLB CHEETAH and I'm fully satisfied with the speed, performance and the comparatively low cost.
It was 32 dollars for the grasshopper back in 1986 and that's in Canadian lol usa must have been like 20 bucks lol but your not wrong 20 bucks back in the 80s was alot lol I rember for 5 dollars I could get a hamburger and pop and some fries lol
I totally get it kev My first RC car was a grasshopper and I also had a manta ray and a lunchbox "Showing my age" Those were the days or tuned brushed motors and Tamiya hop ups Enjoyed this video thanks kev
As a big Tamiya fan This is probably one of my favourite videos . That top force evo was flying. You were taking that right angle jump like a pro!. Well done. I’m tempted to buy a rere Evo now after selling mine .
Yeah, Jason looked to be having a nice little relaxed day until Kev burst in like a Hurricane, lol. Touching everything, looking at everything, opening boxes and stuff like a hyperactive adult child🤣🤣 Although I bet Jason makes a bunch of money from Kevin’s hobby so I’m sure he doesn’t mind, lol
Kevin, on the project 203MPH you could maybe get an fpv camera and mount it on the car so you could get even further range. if it reaches that long. the videos are the best too!!
I was visiting London with my dad and we went to Hamley's and he bought my first RC car: The Grasshopper II. I have great memories from that trip. Cheers from Brazil!
I had a Manta Ray too Kev, I’d wanted it for so long and when I finally came out the model shop with it in hand I was the proudest kid on the block so I completely understand your soft spot. They always looked epic! I wish I’d kept mine, manual speed controller and all 🤣
I had a Manta Ray as my second rc car. I didn't realize it was hobby grade! I was 12... Now I'm 43. That car was awesome until someone stepped on it and broke the suspension. I was too young to realize I could fix things like that 😩. Now I bought a Traxxas rustler for my 8 year old to learn on. I'm saving for an XMaxx for myself! Love the videos! You're the reason I got back into RC again!
Kevin must be 40yrs of age. Good to see that older people enjoy these toys. If you grew up with toys, you tend to enjoy them more when you grow up and can do more fun things with them.
I really wish I had the RC culture in my area like you have there. The closes track to me is like 3hrs away. I'd love to do some indoor racing like that. Looks like good, clean fun.
My first car that was hobby grade was a Kyosho Javelin! I got it when I was 14 years old and I did not have the money to buy batteries and radio until I was 15! I still have the original also but I got the new upgraded one so I can use the new systems with out shredding a 200 dollar belt every time I hit the gas! Your Manta Ray looks bad ass too! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
It was a Manta Ray that got me into RC racing..... after practising around my patents garden I joined my local club and won my very first club race... as a 12 year old I thought it was the best thing since discovering a Cadburys Twirl.... amazing car to begin with..... brings back a few memories......
I just watched your video "in debt 9-5 job" you made 2 years ago. How inspirational. I'm over here across the pond, in the land of opportunity finding myself in the same rut. Thank you for your words of encouragement. May the Lord bless everything you wish.
My first RC car was the Sears Lobo II I had the purple/blue 49mhz and my brother had the Red 27mhz car... That was my favorite Christmas gift as a kid for sure!!!
My first good RC was a Kyosho Raider 2. I was 13 yrs old racing it at a RC track in Southern California called Outlaw RC. Outlaw RC had a large dirt oval for 1/4 scale Sprint cars and Pro stocks with a offroad track in the middle. 1/4 scale dirt oval is amazing but tracks are hard to find. Would love to see Kevin get a 1/4 scale Sprint car!!!
Hi! First of all, love the channel, the vids and the energy you give off in every one of them, its pure fun all over. Just wanted to mention that I just got back into the hobby of rc restoring a 1987 Golden Arrow from Radio Shack, finished it just this week, took out all the electronics and stuffed in it an ecs, brushless motor and new servo, had a bit of a hard time finding wheels so I finally opted for Tamiya Thunder Shot, Terra Scorcher, Grasshopper II tires that worked perfectly. The thing is fast as hell and fun to drive around. Cheers for your channel!!!
Man this bring back memories. My first RC truck was a traxxas rustler. I was maybe 10 and I went all in on that truck. I had the race bag, truck stand, tool kit, extra tires, spare oils and parts. I remember when I was young I would beg my parents after school to take me to the hobby shop and I would go to the track and I even built a track in my yard. I ordered that truck from tower hobbies out of the catalog. Man that was a Christmas to remember.
Like it when Jason has to show something. Sadly the rc shops nearby me was all closed :( When i was out of the hobby my hone village got one i was like why you couldn't be there 10 years before.
I’m really enjoying these indoor racing videos you have been doing lately. It’s another side of the hobby that you don’t see much. Looks like really good fun. Thank you for all the hard work with the videos and the editing. Keep it up.
I had the tamiya quick drive ,it had a switch on the back of the motor, high and low drive, and the same body as the mantaray it was the extreme budget version, but I loved it....
Wicked video Kev, and nice to see you using Tamiya in a suitable environment rather than trying to send it. I had a hornet in around 87/88 and while never into racing (it all seemed a bit too serious for me and I couldn't afford any of the racing kit), I loved what bashing was back then and the hornet was ace for that. Roll forward a few years and lock down got me back into RC. Went down the Tamiya route again (TT-02B) and was very underwhelmed. The build was okay (a bit too easy), but the driving experience was meh. Took it to the BMX track where I used to go as a kid and the jumps have had a bit of an upgrade too. They are now mahoosive - I can barely walk up them. The poor little Tamiya didn't stand a chance. Pimped it up to the max and went brushless and it still struggled. Not to mention it's not really designed to fly 10+ feet in the air. This then led me to RUclips to do some research and I found you doing silly stuff with that big ramp on that long grass field and launching cars miles into the air. While I didn't necessarily want to go to that extreme I saw that bashing had moved on massively and I fancied some of that. Got myself an RTR brushless truck and it's fast, reaches the moon with no problem and it's built like a tank. However it lacks soul and character that the old Tamiya kit had. While I would never want Tamiya to become Traxxass or Arrma, or any other of the extreme bashing brands, I wish they would move on a bit and build perhaps 1/8th scale kits. Let's face it most of us outside of Japan only used Tamiya for bashing anyway as other brands built better race cars and it would be nice to have something a bit bigger that could handle a bit more power and abuse. Anyway I'm waffling on now. Keep the vids coming, they are great, and looking forward to seeing the monster truck in action. Also what's happened to the 200mph car?
Kevin Sir I have seen many of your segments..& this one hits home I have been in the R.C. industry since 1967 Tamia was way ahead of their time I have many of there cars some have never been driven I still have two working first futaba radio's for R.C. cars.. still have my first plane radio Heath kit.. u had to build it..
My 1st RC that i can remember the name of was the tyco Fast traxx. I know i had others before that but i was so young is cannot remember which they exactly are. Its amazing how much fun that car was!
My first Hobby grade RC was the Aristo-Craft Kangaroo. It sparked my love of RC until this day, it just had the worst speed controller placement in history, lol

I’ve never been a fan of the buggy style rc bodies but that manta ray does look pretty sharp. Been considering picking up “the frog” or “grasshopper” and just throwing some insane motors and stuff to it and seeing how uncontrollable I can really make it lol
Im resisting hard buying a plasma edge right now that kit reminds me of an rc car I had as a kid and ive been itching to build another tamiya kit and its cheaper of the kits too... must resist lol
THANK YOU for showcasing how fun carpet track can be. Hopefully this video inspires a whole new generation of racers to come out and play. Its so much fun!!!

I feel ya bro having nikko as a child lol 😆😂🤣
Good car
I agree. I still have my 1989 kyosho big boss.
Rc cars were never very expensive. Still aren't very expensive.
It was 32 dollars for the grasshopper back in 1986 and that's in Canadian lol usa must have been like 20 bucks lol but your not wrong 20 bucks back in the 80s was alot lol I rember for 5 dollars I could get a hamburger and pop and some fries lol
Nice to see some Tamiya content on the show Kevin!
haha thanks bro!!
I totally get it kev
My first RC car was a grasshopper and I also had a manta ray and a lunchbox
"Showing my age"
Those were the days or tuned brushed motors and Tamiya hop ups
Enjoyed this video thanks kev
Same here my first rc was a grasshopper too
As a big Tamiya fan This is probably one of my favourite videos . That top force evo was flying. You were taking that right angle jump like a pro!. Well done. I’m tempted to buy a rere Evo now after selling mine .
Love the support for the local hobby shop 🙌
Yeah, Jason looked to be having a nice little relaxed day until Kev burst in like a Hurricane, lol. Touching everything, looking at everything, opening boxes and stuff like a hyperactive adult child🤣🤣
Although I bet Jason makes a bunch of money from Kevin’s hobby so I’m sure he doesn’t mind, lol
The next one i have is about 70km away ☹️

You're the reason I got back into RC again!
Kevin must be 40yrs of age. Good to see that older people enjoy these toys. If you grew up with toys, you tend to enjoy them more when you grow up and can do more fun things with them.
Love this one dude ❤ Sand scorcher for me. The original was amazing. Sledge body fitment is next level isn't it 💪 Stay awesome 💥
I really wish I had the RC culture in my area like you have there. The closes track to me is like 3hrs away. I'd love to do some indoor racing like that. Looks like good, clean fun.
Sounds like your in a good place to open a shop and start a club.....👌👍
This was also my first “proper” rc car. It wasn’t quite as fast as my friends more expensive kit builds but I upgraded the heck out of it!
Behold the Tamiya Manta Force Evo-Ray
This is more fun to watch than the bashing.
Just here to say you are not bad for the RC hobby. Carry on good sir.
My first car that was hobby grade was a Kyosho Javelin! I got it when I was 14 years old and I did not have the money to buy batteries and radio until I was 15! Looks WAY COOLER with the while wheels and knobbly tyres mate! Nostalgia overload
yes!!
@@KevinTalbotTV looks like the cool tyres ain't as sensible as they are cool. 🤔 oh well! Nothing wrong with a bit of style over substance sometimes 😂
I LOVE these older model vids! She loved that track regardless of the tires you used
Surprising the Manta force... top ray did pretty good for such a old buggy.
Cool to see how the older rc cars compare to newer ones. Great vid!
Yeah it is but I wish he’d use the original motor, batteries, esc etc etc then we could really compare
Older is more scale perfection.
I think this video is absolutely EPIC!!
I love your videos bro. I have almost watched them all. You are the reason I got back into the hobby
Kevin absolutely fantastic driving! Not an easy toy to handle on a Tight indoor track Aaa…
Thanks 👍
Hi Kevin I just want to tell you you are a big influence in the RC community world wide!!! Thanks for all the Funn !!!
I just watched your video "in debt 9-5 job" you made 2 years ago.
How inspirational.
I'm over here across the pond, in the land of opportunity finding myself in the same rut.
Thank you for your words of encouragement.
May the Lord bless everything you wish.
My first rc hobby grade car is fms Suzuki jimny when I am 13 years old

Honestly it's a Testament to how well it was made in design it's a super old chassie and it's still holding up the newer buggies
Pretty cool when Jason of Redfin Models shows what's new at his shop. Wish I lived closer.

I use to have the Holiday Buggy in 1983,took me ages to build.
Man this bring back memories. My first RC truck was a traxxas rustler. I was maybe 10 and I went all in on that truck. I had the race bag, truck stand, tool kit, extra tires, spare oils and parts. Nice to see the original RC that got you into the hobby
Like it when Jason has to show something.
Sadly the rc shops nearby me was all closed :(
When i was out of the hobby my hone village got one i was like why you couldn't be there 10 years before.
I still have my first car too. It's an Associated RC10-T3. Loved it and still do. Need to pull it out again and get it running.
Please make more racing vids! I do it too, and it’s very funny to see u try 😂 maybe 1:8 scale next?
maybe 1/10 SC Truck
25 years ago I had a Tamiya Lamborghini Countach. was an absolutely great car and had a lot of fun with it!
I’m really enjoying these indoor racing videos you have been doing lately. It’s another side of the hobby that you don’t see much. Looks like really good fun. Thank you for all the hard work with the videos and the editing. Keep it up.
i got a hornet back in 1985 and it's still one of my favorite cars... something about those tamiya buggies that just can't be matched...
I love the Borat impression! It's funny as hell
Just subbed to the channel. To see a grown man with, I'm assuming, the same energy and enthusiasm as when he was ten is just awesome to experience.
When i was 4 years old i started watching this channel now that im 10 FINNALY i got a hobby grade rc car
.
What did you get? I have a traxxas slash 4x4 and my 11yr old brother just got a latrax teton
I had the tamiya quick drive ,it had a switch on the back of the motor, high and low drive, and the same body as the mantaray it was the extreme budget version, but I loved it....
YES! You finally picked up a carisma gt24! Those are the some of the best 1/24 scale vehicles! I love mine!
My first rc car was the rustler VXL
5:46 I just thought you were sporting wood from being around all those new RC's. 😂
I love it when he goes, *3..2...1.. BOOM!*
That was really cool. Good to see an old buggy out there with the new ones.
That basher queen carbon fiber kit to switch arrma over to the traxxas clip style is sick
Wicked video Kev, and nice to see you using Tamiya in a suitable environment rather than trying to send it. You never fail to impress kev. your my favourite RUclipsr and I can’t wait to see what’s next. I bet that it’s going to be ABSOLUTELY EPIC!!!
Wow, thanks
Those guys you were racing must be very good drivers because it looked to me like you were driving the absolute hell outta that Manta Ray.
Whatever the car, if Kevin controls it will always be amazing📈
No love for RC planes Kev! Would like to see you review the viper 90 from eflite
Ahhhh.... I remember my Tamiya Super Champ like it was yesterday.... :)
My 1st RC that i can remember the name of was the tyco Fast traxx. I know i had others before that but i was so young is cannot remember which they exactly are. Its amazing how much fun that car was!
Talbot. You want a room mate mate? Your love for rc is bad ass.
If i ever get to Europe im going to buy something from that store..
My first Hobby grade RC was the Aristo-Craft Kangaroo. It sparked my love of RC until this day, it just had the worst speed controller placement in history, lol
Man you're loving the "BOOM" lately! 😂😂😂
watching kev having fun AND doing well is nice...your driving has improved on the track a lot in the last few months :D
At 5:47 I thought Kev was just going to say he was excited to be at Redfin.
I raced one of those as a kid as well.
It was such a great starter RC car.
I bought my first NITRO RC in 2018, it was the Nitro Slash.
After learning everything. A Nitro Engine is Not that hard to Start & keep Running. My Mom pulled over to talk to me one day and i had a Full Tank of Nitro in my Slash. It idled through the whole Tank with out me Blurping it even one time. I was surprised.
The idle stayed the same until the Tank went empty. My Mom likes to talk & is hard to get away at times. I love Nitro. 😆 LOL!
I recon it looks absolutely epic!
I'm impressed with the performance of the Mantalution!
The tyres you got would've been great, if it was an outdoor track. Not so much on carpet. But it looked like a lot of fun.
And someone need to build a Stemp transmitter with an on/off switch instead of a throttle.
Finally tamiya on the channel!
When this guy uploads its like Christmas for me! Thank you
Honestly, I don’t care what kind of videos you put out, I just like YOUR videos. You did a really good job racing!
hi Kev, not commented in ages. loving all of the new content. I've changed my name from "the RC basher" now but I still watch all Ur vids
Kev get the massive carbon fibre RC car in redfin models time in video is 4:47 it’s the on the wall
oh hey i got one of those little gt24tr's basically the same as the gt24b. great little fun that thing is. stick a 2s lipo in it and upgrade the gears to metal ones since the plastic ones in it like to start stripping after some use. now if only there were tracks to race these things on lol
Ha that was Awesome! Get that associated car back out there, get some tires so you can see what the car likes on that Track!
I love these vids the most! For old tech the Top Force/Manta Ray did exceptionally well for its first outing. Bit more dialing in and who knows... Tamiya under dog FTW 👍
It’s actually going really good!
Hello!!
Hi
PLEASE REVIEW A MAVERICK STRADA/QUANTUMN!!! THEY DIRT DIRT CHEAP AND THEY COME BRUSHLESS
Long live Kevin Talbot. Thank you Sir!!
Kev obviously you have lots of crawlers but you don't have the best in the game and that is the vanquish Phoenix! You are not going to regret buying it! Guaranteed
Race day can be so much fun!! Thanks for the great video!
I would buy the Kevin Talbot edition Manta Ray- especially once you put the more modern racing wheels on it!
31 years then
Another awesome video, Kevin!
When you take it racing, are there restrictions to what you can have in it for engines/electronics?
I'd love to see that Serpent go vroom!
i wish i could be as happy as him when i think about my first rc car, but it isnt possible, because its a mini e revo... i paid like 700 dollars on it with all the upgrades, and it didnt get better at all! now it hangs on my wall and probably dont move ever again. i started rc driving 5 years ago, and finally found a good rc car. its an e maxx! im probably the only human on earth who likes this thing, but i never had anything that durable!
Kevin I think you were pitching a tent when you say you got caught up on the hook at the RC shop 🤣
Its nice to see an old tamiya like that hang with the new rc's on the track! I wonder if pulling the center driveshaft making it 2wd would have make the cornering better on that carpet track?🤔
I used to have a grasshopper and a midnight pumpkin back in the 80’s with a brushed reedy red dot motor 😁
Oh man. I had the ready to run version of this (46013) was super slow but i had hrs and hrs of fun with it when i was a kid. My first RC car
Literally just got my original sand scorcher out of the shed for lots of TLC ... excited to hopefully see it run again 🙏
Also, great job Kev! it's hard to go fast on corners like that.
Remember the ceramic heat sink blocks? :D
